what does you/your company do that sees productivity variance between cloud platforms? lol I get it if we're comparing on-premise against cloud architecture but your posts are subjective bias at this point.

What in god's green earth would be the reason for me to travel an hour to and from the office to do the same fucking work I can do from my living room.

Because the company has a lease on the office and if nobody is there it's money 'wasted'. Also real estate lease suffers, also your Starbucks closes, etc., etc.

I work in IT and just this morning my boss texted me saying he expects me in the office.

Promptly told him to fuck off (in a nice way).

I'm still in my job and I actually finished all of my work an hour before my shift ended.

Team comraderie, more effective meetings because you don’t have online meetings with tech issues, people not listening, or literally not there as most people don’t even go on cam or speak up. Doing files on the internal gear is much faster than doing VPN wifi from the dining room table, you have fun meeting people and talking to them face to face instead of being a hermit at home etc….

If the company has new prototype samples from the R&D lab how are people going to check it out or test it out if everyone is at home?

A lot of people working from home work at their own scattered schedule. Why would all the office people who will work standard hours want to wait for the wfh guy to get around to it after dinner? When everyone’s at the office, there’s no hiding and peoples work intertwine a lot better than a guy at home whose outlook status says away all day doing who knows what.
