Zoonami Announces Licensed PSP Developer Status

2005-05-10

CAMBRIDGE, England - 10th May 2005 - UK-based video game developer, Zoonami Ltd, today announced their status as an official licensed developer for the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) platform.

This announcement marks Zoonami?s first foray into the portable gaming market. Zoonami has confirmed that development of internal middleware tools and technology for PSP has been underway at their Cambridge studio since February 2005.

?We?re very excited to expand our development strategy to include this new and innovative platform,? says Martin Hollis, Zoonami?s founder and director. ?The PSP?s wireless and networking capabilities offer many intriguing possibilities for handheld game design in every game genre.?

Zoonami has not yet released any details for upcoming PSP products but has confirmed their commitment to becoming a key developer of quality content for the PSP platform.

Funkydilla was slated for multiplatform, this shouldn't really come as a surprise. It could be Funkydilla in fact... it's a music game which mightn't go over or work as well on DS if it uses high quality samples (and lots of them) etc.

I wouldn't be surprised to see such a small team do something on DS down the line though. Especially with the Hollis connection.

Who does a company like this get money from? Haven't they been in existence since 1999? Who is paying them to make games at the speed of Rare?

Maybe when they produce something, until then I'll still be waiting for "game zero" what a waste of time, they need to break from the "Rare school of timely game design"

IIRC zoonami was seen as the messiah after Nintendo sold Rare to Microsoft, because - so they said - the good people left Rare and joined zoonami to develop only for mother Nintendo. And now, almost 3 years later Zoonami not only hasn't delivered anything for a Nintendo console, but also has become licensed PSP developer.

Thats beacuse they've been working on a Revolution launch title for a whiiiiile now.

They have implied in interviews that they're working with Nintendo on something, but I have no idea whether that's still the case.
