Kill Duel Masters - blah blah yu gi oh rip off blah blah try hard

Kill Dragon Ball Z - It is literally the grand father of all bad shonen tropes and characterization, even if one was to like Dragon Ball (as a whole), Kai is still much superior along with DB . Also I just don't buy into the idea it deserves accolades for making Toonami what it was , I mean hey, Bleach and Sao could be praised for making Re-launch Toonami what it is now! and Sailor Moon helped old Toonami just as much and ostensibly has a bad dub.

Save Zatch Bell - cause somebody has to

Kill: Duel Masters
Kill: SD Gundam
Save: FLCL

Never really watched Duel Masters, but if it is anything close to Yu-Gi-Oh then it is instantly bad. I'm sticking on SD Gundam since I never got into it and what I did see was pretty bad.

I'm switching to FLCL because some people like voting out good things for no reason at all. Seriously, how is there any hate for FLCL? It is actually one of the best anime that has graced Toonami since it started.

for what it's worth, Duel Masters was basically a gag dub that knew it was a total rip-off and consequently the writers didn't give much of a shit.

I'm fairly certain most are aware, but it still was pretty terrible and kinda a waste of a slot on Toonami's schedule during its tenure. That's how I saw it anyways.

eh, i dunno, i think it's kinda getting thrown in the "looks like Yu-Gi-Oh but is not Yu-Gi-Oh" pile. it was a bit of a waste of a slot, but i'd sooner kill Blue Dragon and SD Gundam and Fantastic Four than Duel Masters.

Frieza is my favorite DBZ villain. He was the first to do the multi-form thin, although I think YuYu Hakusho had done it before. He was a bit androgenous with a bit of a diva attitude. I don't find him to be anything like orochimaru except for maybe the color scheme. I do think Frieza's looks were alright, except the silly form 3. First look was a bit geriatric, but he was just chillin so it was fine. Second form was like Capt. Ginyu 2.0 which was alright, and final form was pretty sleak. I won't argue that the writing is pretty simple for a lot of DBZ, but for a kid it doesn't always matter. I watched DBZ as a kid and it was great, except for the ridiculous waits between training and fighting.

I don't like Freeza's endless supply of trump cards ("I can transform! I can tranform again! I'm actually only using way less than half of my full power! I can survive in the vacuum of space, apparently!"). I prefer Cell since we know his entire story, The only real out-of-nowhere trump card he has is his regeneration into his powered-up perfect form. Cell told all about his transformations from the start, and by the time he self-destructed it was already established that Gero's robots had bombs inside them.

I can absolutely see your point. To me they're all pretty horrific, but I can understand the appeal if you found the dub amusing for being intentionally bad. There are definitely some of those floating around in the anime-sphere and some of them are downright hilarious. I don't know at this point though. Some people seem to be trolling. Some seem to be legitimately picking based upon their tastes. Some seem to just want to play the survivor game. I have trouble telling anymore.

Edit: Fun little DBZ story to share, when I was in high school and DBZ was airing on Toonami, I think it was during the Namek arc and the "5 minutes until the planet blows that lasted two or more weeks worth of episodes" that after watching the show every day, my mother finally came to me and goes "Good lord, what is all of the grunting about?! All I hear day in and day out AGGGGGGGGHHHHH UGGGGGGGGGH GGRRRRRRRRRR UAAAAAAAAGH". Just a fun little thing I remembered with everyone talking about DBZ. It is a very awkward show for people not watching it with you.

Kill: Duel Masters
Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

These are just stupid shows and shouldn't have even aired.

Save: Outlaw Star

The protagonist is amazing. The series is mature. Lots of good life lessons.

Kill : Duel Masters
Kill : Dice
Save : DBZ

Duel Masters is a shameless rip off, good enough reason to kill it off. Dice i'm actually not familiar with, but I can get behind it's elimination. All in the name of DBZ the golden boy of Toonami.

I think it's funny that some people are calling Duel Masters a Yu-Gi-Oh ripoff. Outside of it being a show about dueling monsters, how exactly is it a clone? Has anyone here actually bothered to watch the show or play the TCG? If Duel Masters is a ripoff of YGO is YGO a ripoff of Pokemon? In fact, that claim reminds me of all the misinformed people who said Digimon was a Pokemon ripoff just because they both had monsters who fought.

If you want to kill Duel Masters because you thought the story was weak or hated the borderline parody dub that's cool but I can tell that the people claiming it's a cheap imitation of YGO really have no idea what they're talking about.

I just started rewatching FLCL and it really captures the spirit of late-night anime pretty well. Just the right amount of action and surrealism that's good to watch when you're half asleep. Really hoping it gets top five.

The dub is pretty shitty though.

the dub kinda grows on you. but yeah, it's pretty flat.

The FLCL dub is incredible.

Anyways I know now why DBZ must die. It caused the ratings ruin that has plagued Toonami since. If we kill DBZ (not devour, just kill) we can take it apart and use its immortal ratings to end the Ruin once and for all.

Kill: Zatch Bell
Kill: Duel Masters

I never really watched either show, but I do remember Zatch Bell might have been interesting. I could be persuaded to change that vote.

Save: DBZ

I couldn't wait until Goku arrived.

Kill: Duel Masters - Eugh. Card game tv shows.
Kill: Duel Masters
Save: Dragonball Z - Amazing show with tons of mass appeal

Kill: Batman: The Animated Series
Kill: Batman: The Animated Series

B:TAS deserves all the critical acclaim it got but to be honest, there are just a lot of other shows I enjoyed more. It was both fantastic and overrated. I think a show that truly represents Toonami deserves to win more than a show that just haphazardly got thrown onto the block even though its good.

Save: DBZ- Same reasons as before

I feel like Batman TAS doesn't belong on the Toonami list. Great show that I never watched on Toonami.

Kill: DICE
Kill: DICE

do you know what DICE is? of course you don't.

Save: DBZ

because 78th or 77th place for the show that defined Toonami is comical

Kill DBZ so that a different show wins
Kill DBZ because Kai is better.
Save Ronin Warriors because it also has an OCEAN dub.

Kill: Samurai 7
Kill: Samurai 7
Save: Dragon Ball Z

I know hating on DBZ is the hipster thing to do, but it really did have some great fight scenes, cool attacks, and memorable/likable characters. The pacing in the anime got pretty dull at times, but speaking outside the realm of this thread, that's more due to Toei than anything you can blame on Toriyama. The only thing Toriyama can be accused of is being formulaic, but that blame is better laid at the feed of Jump's editors.

What I can also say is that DBZ's filler is among the best there is, and the only filler arc it ever had was very short and fairly enjoyable. The same cannot be said of Naruto, One Piece, or Bleach, all of which have less-pristine filler records than DBZ.

Kill: Naruto
Kill: Naruto Shippuden
Save: Dragon Ball Z - goku is king

Tired of watching flashbacks of something that happened 5 minutes ago in the same episode. This is why I vote for Naruto.

Thats how I feel about cowboy bebop.

Round 6 voting is now open!

Just because a show is popular doesn't mean that it isn't bad. Justin Bieber is extremely popular but makes terrible music. DBZ is the same except it gets by on nostalgia instead of hormones. It's a bad show and deserves to go, that's why it'll keep getting voted against.

That's not my point. If the popular shows get voted off early then people will have less of a reason to participate in this thread.

I mean, why would I care about shows like Blue Submarine No. 6 or MAR? Why would I bother voting if shows like that make it to the top placings?

It's actually an advantage for shows like that to be unknown because no one actually cares about them, regardless of how good or bad they are. I mean, you know all about DBZ and Inuyasha. But can you say that they are better or worse than a show you've never heard of?

Anyways, as for me, now that Ben 10 and Dragonball GT are finally out I honestly have no idea who to vote for now. I can't make guesses on the quality of a show I've never seen, and I think it's unwise to vote between the 5 or so shows I've seen that are still alive, so I must rely on other people's opinions if I am to vote for something again.

Kill: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Save: Dragon Ball Z

The time has come to purge this boring ass Star Wars show.

Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Save: Dragon Ball Z

I agree with the above poster, this horribad CG crap needs to die ASAP.

Kill: Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes
Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars - I am more than willing to take this show out. There is a far superior show about basically the exact same thing on the list. But I hope we can kill off some of the lesser known shows soon.

Save: Batman: The Animated Series - It was really fucking good.

Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Save: Dragon Ball Z

Star Wars: The Clone Wars never did any justice to the movies they were based off of. Much more deserving of a spot on the Disney Channel and shouldn't be on Toonami at all.

Kill: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Kill: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Save: DBZ

Seems to be the hip thing to do. And I agree.

Joining in the bandwagon here
Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Kill: Star Wars: The Clone Wars eh, never really liked what Ive seen so far of this show.
Save: DBZ That show rocked, F the haters. Also fits Toonami pretty well.

So you advocate voting for DBZ just because it's popular and will cause more people to participate? What kind of logic is that? It's a shitty show (in my opinion) and I'm going to continue voting against it.
