Holy shit that was amazing! The camera work was incredible during that long shot. I am going to have to watch the episode a couple of more times to be able to truly appreciate it.

Oh my....This post alone has me excited to get home. I love Alfonso Cuaron's camerawork

I couldn't stop thinking during the final sequence that this was probably what it felt like for people who got to see Children of Men when it came out, without knowing what kind of insanity they were about to witness

Gah, this show is amazing. Thoroughly impressed by little touches from both leads during the first 45 minutes, then Fukunaga blows my mind in the remaining part.

I seriously hope he can direct whatever movie he wants after this.

If anyone loved this episode and hasn't seen Sin Nombre or Jane Eyre, seek them out.

That tracking shot was almost 6 minutes long. I'm gonna have to watch that again right now

I went back and watched a second time to find the "cut points" and found four or five areas they could cut and still make it look seamless. Then I read the article that they only used those points in case it didn't work out in one take and that what was in the episode was truly one take. Amazing.

I got a huge Michael Mann feel from those last 20 minutes. Fantastic stuff.

Same. I had Michael Mann feel more than Cuaron, and that is probably because of the amazing lighting and camera angles.
The brutality of the kills and the noise of the gunshots as they happen almost casually added to it.

Just rewatched it.

I felt like my life was in danger the minute Rust went through that door at the back of the bar. The tension was so fucking palpable and sustained for so long.

While I admire that it was one take, I would have liked to see Rust go to all lengths to get Ginger in custody. A punch to the back of a big ass black dude is supposed to leave him incapacitated? It just wasn't that believable.

Meanwhile, Ginger is running away, I mean shoot the fucker in the foot or something.

Still, an amazingly tense scene.

Shooting ginger makes no sense.

Yeah, he basically needed to get info from the guy off the books. So, shooting him suddenly makes him a hospital case and then an official case and then he lawyers up.

That and just getting out of the neighborhood alive. Shoot Ginger in the foot and suddenly he's screaming, people are running towards them thanks to the gunshot, and he'll probably bleed out and die before they can get the info out of him. Makes no sense on every level.

Amazing work.

It's almost a shame that the one cut is overshadowing the rest of the episode. It was all fucking amazing, starting right in the jail cell hearing about Reggie from what's his name, the entire sequence of Rust sinking back into his UC routine and stealing the coke, Ginger just being all around fucking amazing, Marty getting pushed one step closer to the edge... Just spectacular all around.

It's not like he was gonna get away faster than Rust could run after him. I love the fact it was realistic in the sense that's how someone like Rust would have dealt with it...he didn't panic because he knew he had time.

I was waiting for that grenade in the wall to go off. It's really saying something that we can know with 100% certainty that the central character in that sequence will be fine and still have it be so intense. Might be my favorite sequence of any TV show.

I'm not talking about a collateral wound, jesus it's a shot to the foot.

Rust punches two big thugs once to the back and they are suddenly out for the count (absurd), meanwhile Ginger comes running back to the arms of Rust after he just beat the shit out of him? I get that he was in a state of confusion, but it came off incredibly ridiculous, almost like a three stooges stunt, especially for a show that has maintained a sense of groundedness to it. This biker guy is supposed to be a badass and instead he comes off as a willying insufferable baby as soon as his life is in danger.

Shoot him in the foot, put him across your back and carry him, then throw him in the car and patch him up hastily as you drive off/threaten him.

I wasn't suggesting to go the hospital, that's idiotic.

Nice cameo by Pizzolatto as the bartender in the strip joint. Pretty hilarious watching him give Marty attitude.

Awesome episode. Was really hard watching Rust do what he had to do.

It took a good couple minutes for metpo realize that it was all in one take, then I got Children Of Men goosebumps. This show is incredible.

Yeah, not even the famous take Children of Men was one take. They used cgi to splice the shots together.

This was some next-level shit. Amazing.
