Nintendo Direct Feb 13, 2014 Thread | 3DS/Wii U Spring games

Really excited for dkc, nes remix 2, that baseball game, inazuma eleven, and shovel knight.

sad that they don't have more specifics for bayonetta 2 release date.

very good Nintendo direct.

I thought it was a great direct.

Me too. I join in all the hype, but it seems some believe it a bit too much. This clearly said Spring 2014 games. Frankly the X and Bayo 2 stuff was more than they promised.

I'm as pissed off as anyone that there aren't more titles on the way, but expecting them to show any in this direct was misguided.

Honestly Steel Diver and the Baseball game look like attempts to appease investors while experimenting with various ideas. Doubt either will make profits.

"OH MY GOD!!! THEY DIDN'T ANNOUNCE A SPECIFIC LIST OF IMAGINARY GAMES I WAS EXPECTING!!!!!!!!!!! FIRE EVERYONE AT NINTENDO!!!!!! WIIU IS DEAD!!!!

Protip: E3 is around the corner.

Neogaf at its finest. I'm enjoying the multitude of overreactions. Personally I was pretty satisfied seeing as I got EXACTLY what I expected (except for Little Mac which was very hype for me). Why do people always expect these huge new reveals? I'm pretty sure they're saving all of their announcements for E3.

I'm really satisfied with this Direct. Little Mac trailer for Smash, Koopalings in Mario Kart, and Inazuma Eleven available to buy instantly all surprised me a lot.

Plus other tidbits as well... My body wasn't ready.

It's not silly to get frustrated that one of the greatest players in the industry has fallen so far from grace. Disastrously slow development with safe, stale titles and the worst home console they've ever released.

You can understand the realities while acknowledging that the realities of Nintendo are frustrating and, for some, angering.

Then they need to calm the fuck down lol.

Video games, enthusiasts or not, it's just video games.

It was a really solid direct. Saw more gameplay of games. Little Mac looks absolutely amazing. X looks like it's gonna be fun, bayonetta 2 looks bad ass. I'm happy with today's direct.

That was pretty much what I expected. Anyone expecting them to announce something to save the Wii U (which is the bar that seemingly gets set for every Nintendo Direct) was always going to be disappointed.

This Nintendo Direct has just made me realise one thing;

THE WIIU IS FINISHED

This was Nintendo's last opportunity to convince current/potential wii U owners about the viability of the wii U after the dreadful shipment figures. And,Nintendo blew it :(

The games draught on this console is going to put the N64 one to shame. No way am I going through that bullshit again.

The only new announced game was a retro game mishmash and gameboy advance games. How the mighty have fallen.

I will pickup X in the bargain bins some day. I am out!

It was? News to me.

I thought it was pretty decent. Release dates were a little disappointing, and the lack of a new game to deliver a solid punch stopped the Direct from being better.

Still, X, Bayonetta, MK8 and Smash look dope as fuck. And three of them are coming out this year.

I'm a little bummed out too..would have liked to have seen X footage or a PAL SMT IV date.

But wtf? Some people, angry about the lack of new titles announced, make it sound like they thought this nintendo direct was gonna be an E3 press conference!

Meanwhile Tropical Freeze is about to drop and looks to be yet another great exclusive for everyone to not buy.

GAF can really take the joy out of just enjoying Videogames.

I mean everything here (except that baseball shit...seriously wat) looks great to me (especially Kart, Bayonetta, and BASED LIL MAC) and yet I come here and it's nothing but rage.

Can't we just enjoy the games we know we are getting? I could see if all you had is a WiiU and I understand that you;d like to see more but this is how great games get overlooked (see W101).

The games will come...and if they don't, we still have these games.

Seeing people upset that ALL they showed was X, Mario Kart, Bayonetta, Smash, FDK, and the 3ds games is a bit sad.

Once a game is announced, it's like it is dead to some.

;_;

LOL, don't take it too seriously, post-Nintendo-Direct-GAF is always like that.

The Direct was great, but some people expected too much, and some others have a lot of fun making drama.

I'm personally, kinda disappointed with the lack of solid release dates and expected some more WiiU support, but that doesn't make the good stuff announced less good.

The mask was an easter egg, nothing more, nothing less. While I'd love a Majora's Mask remake, raising hope for it to be announced at any direct is just a recipe for disappointment. I'll believe the rumors when I see physical proof that they could announce it and not "Well it COULD be announced"
Maybe it's my sleep playing tricks on me, but you're contradicting yourself here. You want prove that they could announce it? Enough video and solid source interviews that he gives, not very subtle, hints that they are likely releasing a 3DS remake.

And still, it doesn't make sense. It's easy cash for Nintendo. A lot of Zelda fans want it. What is there to consider? The OoT 3DS engine is ready to be used again, so it's not like they're losing big money on it. And the yearning for (Spring or Fall?) 2015 Zelda U would be hugely soothed with a Fall 2014 MM 3DS release.

You missed the X footage?

My god, U STREAM wasn't fucking ready at all! About 250.000 live viewers and it was completely killed for me and I'm on a 50mb internet connection... Jesus!!

Anyway... Now that I've watched it on youtube, there wasn't too much we didn't know before, at least in regards to Wii U.

X looked awesome, but with no release date or even a 2014-mention this is gonna be a 2015 title 100% I think...!!!! ;_;

Mario Kart 8 looked absolutely fantastic, too! Can't waaiit!

And Bayonetta 2 looked sick as hell, my god. Glad it's comfimed for 2014 as well.

Sadly, Devil's Third wasn't mention at all, so there goes my prediction...

All in all sadly much more 3DS focused, but it was only the first ND, so yeah...

Man, I got a little hyped for a potential Punch Out U ;_; But at least smash is still coming 2014.

Yeah, so much lag. Ended up watching the NA stream on YT because the EU stream was dying so much. Also the YT is much better quality image wise when watching it via the Wii U.

We already know that whatever little focus Nintendo is putting on the Wii U is going to be NFC related and shown off at E3.

So between Tropical Freeze and may 30th, Wii U is basically getting indies, VC and Nes Remix 2. And I guess Wii Sports Club is gonna recieve an upgrade. Wow!

On the other hand, the rest of 2014 gets MK8, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2 and Smash 4. And Watch Dogs if we should be so lucky.

I'm guessing that X is slipping into next year.

Had the same problem for the first few minutes, then degraded to the 360p resolution. Worked like a charm. Did you try that?

I don't know why people expected something massive from Nintendo today. What I saw was the best DKC trailer, great X footage, a great MK 8 trailer, and a Bayonetta trailer that went well above my expectations.

I get people are upset about the drought, but I expected the continued drought. I hate that there aren't enough games on the Wii U too, but my expectations were quite grounded, and the drought also doesn't bother me as badly because I flat out do not have time with my education and other hobbies right now.

Didn't expect much so I'm happy with what we got except the fact that there's another incoming drought in-between Tropical Freeze and Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U side of things for the most part.

Mario Kart 8 trailers have been killing it a lot though. It's a shame that a lot of that great feeling comes from the dynamic camera replay angles.

Thank god for their Youtube channel, because Nintendo has not learned their lesson when it comes to Ustream. Awful.

Fuck no DQ VII :(. I give up then, time to import a Japanese 3DS. Guys, anybody know how much a 3DS Japanese system costs?? I have a friend going on a viait and might as well buy a Japanese 3Ds with lotsa Japanese exclusives? How many yen does DQVII cost??

It's also funny how these threads get so excited...!

...

...

...for nothing. :(
Nintendo announces a direct for their spring games for both systems releasing within the next three months, fans start expecting secret announced games.

Most of us have been through this. The hype train is fun, but most of us know its just that.

All the people that are disappointed we didn't get the Zelda, metroid or fzero announcements, if Nintendo doesn't say they will discuss unannounced wiiu games in the direct (like shockingly done in January 2013) expect announcements like these at e3. The direct was packed with content and footage of announced games and gave us release dates for spring games, like previously stated. It also featured X and bajo2 like expected after the tweets. It was a good direct. Next time set your expectations relative to what was stated will be in the direct

I've always watched it at the lowest possible quality (240p?) but its never been this bad. Hopefully next time people who don't usually watch it will not be unrealistically hyped and basically leave the bandwidth alone.

the direct was decent, didn't expect huge unreleased games to be announced of course

haha the miiverse for gba games will be flooded with "PUT THESE ON 3DS" . I wonder how much these games will be

NES remix 2 should have been released now

I got my GBA VC games (and my suspicion of Japan kicking the ass of the western lineup proved correct >_>) and I got more gameplay of games I wanted. That baseball 3DS game has always looked interesting to me since it came out in Japan so that was a nice surprise (a lot of nice 3DS surprises really). Also, LITTLE MAC!!

I got what I wanted and then some. Good direct. Super overhyped as always though ;)

Side note: I would totally buy the NES Remix retail pack Japan got, NoA...

On my Laptop it was completely killed, even on 240p... and sadly on my Wii U, when streaming html5, U stream didn't have the option to select a quality, so I guess it was set to default all the time.. The first few minutes it worked, but then it got completely killed... only fragments of the stream poped up once in a while amongst endless buffering...

Nintendo really needs to find another streaming partner. U STREAM just can't handle it!

I wasn't expecting anything major from this direct, being before the new Financial Year and all. I imagine Nintendo will save some big announcements for April or E3 week. Likely if they do have any sort of rescue plan for Wii U, it's not coming till summer at the earliest. I think Virtual Console, E-shop and Remix was the best we could hope for this soon after recent news)

I wish they could of had details on lessons for Art Academy Wii U or more pack-in reference images (I am likely the one person that cares right now, oh well) - sad that the lessons are seemingly not coming during the spring.

I want Rusty's Baseball in the EU, Europeans like other sports even if they are American past-times Nintendo!

Otherwise, mostly not feeling much hype, might get Pokemon Link, will enjoy some other eshop releases. Will try Sub Wars tonight. Still not sure if I really want Donkey Kong yet, I still need to finish the other titles I own on Wii U so might pass it up.
