PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

That's why you bought your new and shiny PS4 for!

valid point! thank you for making me see the light.

1)What's wrong with monster hunting and visual novels? Aren't Monster hunter, Ace Attorney, 999/VLR games to get on 3DS? Double standards even here in Vitagaf?

nothing is wrong with them, but the ones this year don't scream "2014 headlining title" at me. I'm sure some people consider Toukiden or Danganronpa on an equal hype level as Tearaway/Killzone/DragonsCrown. Last year Soul Sac did...
2)flooded with monster hunting and visual novels? Are you serious? What can you buy these days other than Toukiden and Daganronpa(that's not even a pure visual novel)?
Have you forgot that soon will come games like sorcery saga, ys, deception 4, dynasty warriors 8, final fantasy x/X-2, demon gaze etc? What are you talking about?

...obviously there are other genres of games released, regardless, back to my point... do any of those hold the same amount of clout as Tearaway Etc. FFX could fit the bill, and don't get me wrong i'm thrilled for it...again - if it was a new game with that amount of production/hype/etc then it'd fit as a "must-play" game of the year I'm looking for in the release calender. But right now there isn't any in my eyes. I am expecting one to be announced though.

2)Do you buy games to have fun or for what? Because if fun is what matters then there's no point complaining about the size or genre of a game, especially when Vita is getting a wide range of games types.

yes, i buy games to have fun. don't see how that is relevant, my point stands - there is no 2014 Headlining title/s....yet. FFX is the closest.

Like i said localizations are great, I'm down with them, and they really allow regions to experience different styles and franchises that they haven't been able to before...but they aren't mind blowing and are headlining the year.

The unannounced rumoured InFAMOUS game might work for you. :P

yeah, i think that's the only thing to go on right now.

From what I have seen of Freedom Wars I would argue that it has the potential to be amazing.
Then again I am a sucker for Multiplayer action games

Good point - really do need to see more though.

Okay holy crap, Freedom wars looks awesome! Where did this game come from? Glad to see Sony developing something like this. Seems like a completely different artistic approach, you'd never know that was Japan studio. Anyone played it / is it any good?

This week I tried the demo for Arc System Works' Magical Beat and really liked it. Kinda wondering why Aksys Games hasn't localized it yet, should be a pretty easy effort, unlike XBlaze.

I would much rather have it on a home console though, for local multiplayer purposes.

I know what you mean, heckmanimation. Seems like a Japanese year apart from the (awesome) indies. I think Sony is hoping Borderlands 2 will be a big thing for the west this year, and if it looks good...imagine it, borderlands 2 co-op on a handheld...that would be pretty great. We have like 2 fps titles atm but they're both pretty serious. Duke Nukem will be a bit of a joke too, pretty nice. Next up I'd like an action adventure, TPShooter and more racers :)

Imagine BL2 looking like KZ:M!

Okay, probably best not to imagine that actually.

Japan Studio isn't developing Freedom Wars. It's developed by Shift (God Eater), and Dimps (Street Fighter IV) which explains why it looks a lot like God Eater.

Kotaku had a hands-on, and said the game felt more like a capture the flag deal than a hunting action title.

I was wondering if anybody has heard anything about a general release date for Binding of Isaac on the PS4. The only stuff I've seen online say 'Early 2014.' I could have swore I heard that it was supposed to be the PSN+ free game for March at a conference or something like that.

So... I think my Vita is pretty much done. I just got it for Black Friday and have been loving the thing. This week the battery decided to just crap out. Tuesday I booted it up to play during my lunch break and it wouldn't turn on. I had last charged it about 4 days before but hadn't used it since then. I thought it was weird because when I first got it the thing could go for a week in suspend mode with a little play time each day. I hooked it up Tuesday night, let it charge the whole time I slept, woke up and played some Spelunky just to verify it would turn on. Worked fine. I didn't use it again until my lunch break today. Tried turning it on and no response. This sucks... Has anyone else encountered this problem? I contacted Amazon and they stated I was 14 days late to do a return/exchange. I suppose I'll have to contact Sony.

So... I think my Vita is pretty much done.

When you do plug it in does it blink for a while, orange blinking I believe? Is it possible your battery is just draining stupid fast? If it has a very tiny charge it will absolutely not turn on. Even if you plug it in, the screen will not wake up until it has a tiny charge (and the blinking stops.)

Scared me the first time I drained the battery all the way and went to turn it on next. I don't know that it sleeping from Tuesday -> Friday would be enough to drain that battery that low though.

It did blink orange Tuesday night when I plugged it in. I was even able to play it that night. I don't think it's bricked but having a battery that won't even last two days in suspend with nothing running in the background makes it pretty much useless. I'd hate to see how long it lasts when I'm actually playing something. I'll try doing a full charge tonight and then keep an eye on it over the weekend to see exactly how long it keeps a charge. I'll be really disappointed if I have to send it in for repair or replacement.

february = Best month confirmed

Im broke ;(

Unbelievable 1 million point OllieOllie run, blindfolded:

OlliOlli and I are taking a break from each other. Until we can come to an agreement about how many spins I think I am doing (totally 50+) and how many spins it thinks I am doing (totally not 50... jerk) then we are just going to relax a bit. We still like each other and don't want to cause drama with all our other Vita friends. Toukiden is acting as a middle man for us right now.

Yeah, the description was pretty much:

1.- Look for the enemy.
2.- Fight the enemy until he is too weak.
3.- Then take the hostage.
4.- Take the hostage to a extration point. Somebody carries him, the other players have to protect that guy until the hostage is saved.

Looks neat as an idea, but I hope that isn't the only mode. That capture the flag thing is neat, but a more traditional approach for some missions will be welcome. If they can add other interesting modes (PvP?) it'll be even better.

So I'm picking up Vita 2000 for digital games only but I'm unsure what color to get.
I like the White/LightBlue combo but my current OLED Vita is white, I feel like I need to change it up..
I could get the black version, but not really a fan of their color combos.

1stworldproblems and all that

Pink all the way!

Well, I finally did it: I picked up a 3DS. My Vita needed the company! But don't they look cute together?

I bought a 3DS XL too last week!

Kinda regret it already. BD is quite good but 2014 Vita games have been amazing so far and will continue to be great. There aren't even like 3 upcoming 3DS games I'd want. Oh well.

Real reasons I bought it was so I could play
Senran Kagura and
Phoenix Wright.

If you just got it there are a good amount of games you have missed from previous years. So get to it. Having both handhelds is really amazing.

I just have Zelda, and the first Phoenix Wright game I got for free from my job. I work at Capcom, so I'll probably order a few games from them and get an employee discount! I actually haven't even mess with games on it yet, I set everything up, registered it with Club Nintendo, and am now looking at the eshop to see what classics I'm going to buy.

The Vita will always have my heart though. I love that frigging thing. But I think the 3DS is a great complimentary device to it. I have a pretty nice list of 3DS titles that warranted the purchase. I just couldn't buy all of them at once. Zelda and Ace Attorney will be fine for now, and then I'll snag more as the weeks go by.

Bought mine two weeks ago.

Still waiting for Bravely Default to get shipped for me, it'll ship on 22.

It was either Zelda or Bravely for me, and while Bravely looks awesome, I'm a huge Zelda fan. The game I'm really excited about is Smash Bros.

I bought it last year. So far the only game I beat in the 3ds is Zelda though. It was good, but I am not a huge Zelda fan so i am not crazy over it. I think I will skip bravely default and pick up fire emblem if I see it at a good price next. For now, I'm planning to go through tearaway. Just started the game :)

Almost saved enough money to buy a Vita and I am super excited to play an enormous catalogue of games (already bought screen protector and hori cover). The problem is I want a 2000 version but don't know if I have the patience :S. Here's my list of games I need to get eventually. I starred the ones I have from PS+.

Daganronpa, Dragon's Crown, Escape Plan, Gravity Rush*, Guacamelee!, Hotline Miami*, Killzone: Mercenary, LittleBigPlanet, Lone Survivor, Lumines Muramasa, Oddworld Stranger's Wrath, OlliOlli, Persona 4 Golden, PlayStation All Stars, Runner2, Sine Mora*, Sonic Racing*, Soul Sacrifice*, Sound Shapes, Spelunky, Stick it to the Man, Super Stardust Delta, Tearaway, Terraria, The Walking Dead, Toukiden, Ultimate MvC 3, Uncharted*, Velocity Ultra, Wipeout 2048*, Ys Celceta, Zero Escape.

Anyone think I am missing some good games here?

Also first post on Neogaf!

Sadly, imo, we don't really have any games that command as much attention as last year yet...

No, Killzone:Mercs. No, Tearaways. No, Muramasas or Dragon Crowns. etc. We are getting more Indie love that's for sure, as signing them kinda exploded last year, so development should begin to end this year. And localizations are taking off which is really sweet and allows people to branch into games they'd never thought they'd get to experience. But still neither of those fill my need for BIG NEW games.

we're being flooded with just indies, monster hunting, and visual novels. Nothing is screaming out at me as THE title to get this year.

The Vita has risen from its grave in Japan, I'd be surprised if Sony didn't have an announcement for us this year.

I'm okay with visual novels though. I wish someone would give us Stein's Gate.

I think we'll see something cool at e3... not some megaton system selling Vita savior or anything, but just something legit that we'll enjoy.

Tearaway is wonderful. I was cold on that game until I played it at E3 and fell in love with it. One of my favorite games on the Vita.

Welcome! That's a good list. I'd add TxK for some glowing arcade goodness.

Y'all should pick up The House of the Dead: Overkill. It's a great game and $4.99 is an amazing price.

The Last of Us Left Behind was worth buying that season pass :P

I'm still mad
(not really)
at you for spoiling TLOU Left Behind Spoilers:
the kiss scene, even though it was telegraphed throughout most of the DLC.
I just finished that part though, so don't tell me anything else about it!

Ultimate MvC 3 is garbage, you'll be loading 90% of time, and the UI...is just...I can't even.

You have only yourself to blame. Seriously you messaged me just to tell me the DLC was good. I saw that you weren't playing it while I currently was. What was I supposed to think? >__>

edit: How have you not finished it yet? You messaged me like 4 hours ago >__>

I said the DLC is good, not was good. Still, no worries :). Like I said
the game pretty much told you it was going to happen anyway.
