Xbox One February update is rolling out

Got the update a bit ago, didn't really get to test the new scaler until the TF Beta went back up but what a huge difference it makes. Looks much better now.

OMG since the update I am finding so many eople to play in all games including Crimson Drご

This update makes the Games menu so much better, and OMFG does KI and Crimson Dragon look a lot better! WOO!

I thought Crimson Dragon was already 1080p. No scaling for that one.

Rebooted countless times and waited 15 minutes while it was off each time. Nothing. I hate this. Going to bed. Hopefully it's there in the morning.

Eh, supposed to put in Dead Rising 3. Ryse looks considerably different. Now it looks smooth but when activating a skill it looks a very different when the screen gets sharper briefly.

Dead Rising 3 should look different, but Ryse used a software scaling routine. I can't imagine that should look different too.

thats always happened when specifically using Jupiter's power. its just an effect. i dont think Ryse is affected by this update. it didnt have the sharpening filter applied because Crytek were using their own upscaler. or something.

Same, tried it from 7pm to midnight. Tried the power saving method three times on top of countless reboots. I can't believe it's this hard to do an update.

Update downloaded.

First I did was go to Kinect Tuner, to see whether they fixed the floor detection. (I have laminate dark brown floor, which was unrecognized before by Kinect) So, after the second try, it drew the grid on screen, so that's a win I guess, but it's still not well aligned. I don't think I can use it for Fitness yet, but for Rivals it's gotta work now.

I just thought of sharing this as it was not mentioned before.

Could you also ask to bring back old friend system? The new one is horrible, it's pretty much like twitter with followers and following and actually is completly separated from Xbox 360 friend list, if I add people on One they don't show up on 360 and I have to add them again.

That and achievement app are my biggest issues with Xbox One. They are just so much worse than 360 implementation and very unintuitive/hard to use.
As long as they get rid of twitter bullshit I am fine with that. So annoying to add people and then check if they added you. Why just not make it like old system - add someone, they see friend request and accept/decline it. You can even leave "followers" option where you can follow someone, but that's need to be separated from friend list.

I sometimes get messages asking to play from complete strangers and only then notice that they are my followers, one guy was as confused as I am, he thought since I showed up in his "friends" list, I might have accepted his friend request after the Killer Instinct match.
I highly agree. The Xbox twitter friend system is my biggest annoyance with the console. It feels so disconnected. Bring back the old friend system and have the followers as an extension to it, so you can choose to send an actual friend invite or simply follow a person.

As for the 100 friends limit on the 360. MS can show the 100 people that you have been a friend with for the longest time. They've already given away that they have means to know hoe long people have been friends with each other. So it should be doable.

Edit: Really hope that this is coming in the march update and not just a reskin of the UI.

Machine updated when I turned it on this morning so the patch is reaching UK machines.

If you aren't sure if your machine has updated just go to the app screen. The change is immediately visible as it now shows the HDD storage details.

I let it sit in standby & the update hit me.

They need to add a feature where our favorites will have a notification when they are online etc.

Got the update.
It's good to see these improvements early on; I'm hoping the March update shores up the bigger issues with the overall user experience. In truth most of these 'features' should have been present from the start. I don't doubt for a second their omission was a necessary evil in the rush to make the launch window in a stable, if somewhat barebones, state.

Yep, I think they decided what could be pushed to post-release long ago and spent the remaining time polishing what was already there. New owners will have all this in place when they pick up their machine for Titanfall.

is it a placebo effect oris it actually faster now ? opening apps and navigating the ui i mean.

hopefully they keep the updates coming

Tried last night with the force metod (turn off with instant mode on, wait 10 mins, tur on and it finished installing with that green bar).

Opening Friends and switching apps seems faster now.
Also tried Ghosts and its visually better, didnt notice any difference on BF4.
The hdd and battery info is well done, finally..

Dead Rising 3 looks so much better now. I played through the game twice at launch, and decided to put it back in after the update tonight. Now I'm fully back into it. Such a fun game and now with improved visuals!

Any way to force the update? I want to pay Dead Rising for a bit but I don't want to get into it then get kicked out for a system update.

FFS Microsoft how hard is it to have a "Check For Update" option? Firmware updates should be thrown in your face as soon as the console is switched on

Gotta say I'm nonplussed about the delivery method for this update. I don't like a guessing game like this and it feels so hit and miss. 10pm and my box has been in standby all day, nothing.

If it's been in standby all day, it won't have picked it up even if it's available:

For the vast majority of Xbox One owners who use “Instant On” (the low power state that allows you to instantly power up your console by saying “Xbox On”), the console automatically checks for updates when customers turn it off.
(from here, emphasis added).

For the vast majority of customers (ie, those who don't frequent gaming forums and aren't impatiently waiting for the update), it should work pretty seamlessly. Kinda annoying that there's no manual check to force it if you are impatient, though.

Got mine when I woke up, battery indicator is bigger than I thought the pictures indicated, the My games & app changes are nice although I'm not sure why COD and ACIV are in the "queue" they're both installed already.

Achievements thing is nice and Kinect seems a bit more responsive but maybe it was just me

Is the "Added you X hours ago" thing new in the friends/followers list?
If yes it vertainly improves the system as you can see who's new.

Finally got the dang update

Or maybe not, it did everything it was supposed to (blinking Xbox logo, power supply light turning orange) but then it just booted the console without updating

Got the update; few questions:

Is there anyway to manage memory without clicking on each game/app?

Did you guys notice here is a permanent Xbox logo at the top right corner?
