Man. I just worry that we won't have sections like that, where you're going down a crowded street and there's just all of this LIFE happening. I HOPE we do, but I don't know. I guess it's better if I keep my expectations lower in case we don't, but this would be amazing.

Generic can mean a lot of things. It may not shake up the formula of exploration and adventure with shooting, and someone could call that generic.

When the press gets to actually play the game, that sentiment may go away.

Also, OMG! You can interact in the cutscenes, I love that

It also depends on what you can actually do. Walking down a street on rails while canned animations happen everywhere is okay, but wouldn't really blow my mind tbh. Some interaction would be nice too.

- " dark " is the game, which could offer horrific sensation like the best from survival horrors.

Hype somewhat deflated. I can't handle survival horror game. If this comes across too heavily I may have to pass no matter how good the graphics are.

HA HA HA!!!

Just got an email from Dropbox that my account was temporarily suspended due to excessive traffic. Nice job Gaf :-P

Oops! Guess that option is out the window, then. I think the only way you are going to be able to handle traffic is via mega or similar upload sites.

@shinobi602
If by generic they mean third person shooting, sure.

@shinobi602
Sure, to be frank, they're not reinventing the wheel here. It will be a very polished TPS.

@shinobi602
Still has freshness, awesome destruction physics, great cover system, unique weapons, TLOU style exploration/downtime.

Hrrrngng...WANT.

Now I'm gonna sit back with some popcorn and see how imaginations will run-wild until the embargo lifts tomorrow...

Can't wait for y'all to read about it and see some video.

I mean the have said they want to recreate London from that time. Britain was at the height of its empire. London was a bustling city with a lot of wealth and poverty. Empty, drab streets without much life would not represent the city at that time at all really.

My biggest fear since the game was announced.

I don't know why people are fearing the game will have "generic" gameplay. Its not like it was not expected. I mean, it was never announced as a revolutionary game, with visionary mechanics and such. It was pretty clear from the start that they were focusing on a game that values storytelling and traditional third person shooter mechanics. People will only get disappointed if they set their expectations way to high (which I am sure will happen, as always).

I mean, I am myself expecting great things from the game considering RAD's history. Personally, if it something on the lines of an Uncharted game with superb graphics, solid gameplay and a well written story its going to be fine. I am sure people will watch the trailer expecting something like a new RE4 or something like that so its obvious that there will be overreactions and meltdowns etc... But oh well, nothing anyone can do really.

Not with that level of density though. :)
If I look at the crowd scenes in Heavy Rain and remember that devs have like 5 times the power now I'm sure anything is possible ;) Maybe not completely even in terms of polish, but I do expect Naughty Dog and Quantic to tackle simulating a real, busy and believable street or town in their next games. The beginning of The Last of Us with 5 times the available power sure would get close to this too.

With the amount of hype created here over such little info there is no way in hell that the reveal will live up to it.

well it is still alternative history.

besides this i feel like those populated scenes are far and few between much like tlou in a way. it is action adventure so we'll probably go to some unexplored areas.

My report is all set to go for tomorrow morning. 1,300+ words, gameplay footage, new trailer, and I think 20 screenshots. I transcribed a lot of what Ru from Ready at Dawn said during our session.

#Soon

By the way, I encoded the video at the highest setting Compressor would allow. Obviously, Youtube has screwed things up in the past, but it actually looks great on YT right now (it's preloaded but set to Private, sorry)

I meant two videos total (sorry, I was pretty beat-up when I tweeted that)

1. Gameplay video from B-Roll
2. New trailer

OOOOOOOOO 2

Hrrrngng...WANT.

so much hype!

and about the 'generic' gameplay comment. As long as the mechanics are solid I don't care at all. A fun solid TPS in a very interesting setting is what I want

I'm sure it's possible but would they want to shoot for such high standards this early in the development cycle?

OOOOOOOO 2.5

-The combo shotgun with primary weapon : normal bullets , alt mode : shockwave which blows away the ennemy
- termit rifle : shots of a cloud based aluminium particles when entering in contact with a flare melts and transforms into a rain of incondescent metals.
- Electric arc gun : fires electric shots , the more you charge it the more precise and destructive it becomes.
-the sticky grenade : classic grenade but which can be stick to the environment ( and or ennemies ? )

No other mention of physics though.

Lets be fair, why do we need something ti reinvent the "gameplay" wheel? Ill take honed and competent or experimental and untested everytime.

Yup. 100% agreed. Remember the beginning of the Condenser chapter in Beyond? It looked so awesome with like 80 unique NPCs on screen at the same time, dialogue and chaos everywhere. It really helps to immerse you into the world and properly simulate the situation you are supposed to be in. Nothing worse than a big city that has like 5 inhabitants. I really hope devs do away with that this gen.

From GI last year
Examples of guns: Arc Gun like you saw in the trailer, Combo Gun has two different settings, you can blow enemies back with a non-lethal charge to make space as well as using standard rifle fire, Thermite Rifle can shoot a chemical onto enemies, using secondary fire to shoot flares to light them on fire, frag grenades can be used typically or hoisted onto the environment via spikes

I hope a few colourful settings like Hyde park are in the game, they have the British slate grey look done to a T.

I kind of agree. Keep what works in these games and add something unique to it. Its all you have to do. No need to go all out doing something crazy. The chances for that to be a disaster are huge imo. Its better to be safe, specially considering this is their first really big project.

Hope it is actual gameplay.

They confirmed there will be both a trailer and a gameplay preview.

ps4 is 10 times more powerful than ps3

Last gen Assassins Creed games did a good job of making a city feel lively.

Something tells me they will be able to create some very vibrant cities this gen. I wouldn't put it past them.

I'm hoping the population of the city comes into play from a gameplay standpoint. Like attacking enemies but being sure to avoid fleeing civilians, them being taking as shields, etc. Hopefully it's not where you come into a populated environment, cut scene/cue enemies, and everyone vanishes.

Geez I went from eating popcorn this morning to smoking cigarettes profusely...and I dont smoke.

Hype train? Hype train.

I really really hope that town artwork is even a little representative of something we see in the game and the kind of atmosphere we can expect from the game. The gameplay shots have looked pretty desolate so far but that one piece of artwork is keeping my hype at a steady level.
