looks gorgeous but I expect level design to be different, from that small piec of gameplay looks too lineal, Binary Domain levels here.

A bit of clipping going on there, but I love the clothphysics.
This looks gorgeous. People complaining are craycray.
So games are about only graphics these days? I like graphics but that doesn't mean gameplay can be as lame as this. This looks gorgeous. People complaining are craycray.
I'm not complaining because it's not "gorgeous".. I was just hoping for more than another linear Gears clone. It's sill on my radar though.looks gorgeous but I expect level design to be different, from that small piec of gameplay looks too lineal, Binary Domain levels here.
Yes thats usually what you do in a 3rd person shooter.sigh

really? a fucking guy taking cover behind corners and chest high walls so he can shoot people?

I know it's random, but the camera work in that "jumping off the building" gif reminds me SO much of that one BG&E2 prototype footage that I would would be unattainable in actual real world gameplay.

It excited me to see the camera work in the full game.

For some reason I was expecting that the enemies would be monsters/creatures of sort. The first few screenshots looked like stuff straight out of RE4. It's completely deflating to see just...dudes with guns. Again. It doesn't look anything like I expected. And I unfortunately mean that in a bad way. It does look miles beyond any next-gen game I've seen so far though.
I'd argue that the pace of the game constantly being controlled by things outside of pure gameplay (cutscenes, "interactive" cutscenes, possible forced walking, "branching melee," etc.) is even worse than "play for 15 minutes ,and watch for 5 minutes." Max Payne 3, among a lot of games last gen, was absolutely ravaged by that "seamless cutscenes" mentality, and it can easily go sideways for this game as well. Despite their claims that everything will "flow," to some people (like me) it'll just feel like I'm constantly having the core mechanics pulled out of my control so that the game can present its scripted scenes.
I need a chunk of unedited gameplay before I buy into any aspect of the game's presentation.
The director's PR bullshit in this video is really some next-level stuff. He makes it sound like these QTEs are an actual art form:
"Hey, I chose to murder that NPC with a knife."
"NO FUCKING WAY! I murdered him without the use of a knife!"
It looks like one of those scripted jumps from RE4 where you walk to a ledge and press a button to watch a fancy jump take place, but aren't actually in control of the jump. Or maybe like Zelda, it just auto jumps to keep the UI elements off screen. It's not as much of a challenge to script camera work like that when the entire jump animation is built specifically for that one gap.

To be blunt for a moment all they really gave people hype for with these reveals were the visuals. The gameplay was so miniscule and didnt really do the game justice for what it supposedly offers.
They have a concept of fighting monsters, investigations, soft body destruction physics among other things to show off and all they did was gave us a few standard moments of taking cover, shooting and a QTE.
Im not trying to hate on the game or anything but I feel they should have tried to sell it a bit more in the gameplay department.

Oh, I'm sure, but it still creates a cool effect that enhances that "film" look.

- Even with the youtube shit quality the game still looks insane. LOL @ decent graphics.
- Gameplay, well lack thereof looks boring. That 10 sec gun gameplay looked god awful. Couldn't at least showcase a special gun or set piece to make it look interesting?
- QTE's are fine with me. I expected it because of their past history and their hard on for cinematic storytelling. At least they're doing the good kind of QTE's that offer a challenge instead of just button mashing.
The preview is shit. Not a smart way to hype your game with short boring b roll stuff. Obviously saving good stuff for E3 (i hope so at least). RAD already has a proven track record so it's funny and sad how so many people are quick to write them off. But i guess that's what makes the internet the internet.
Would you prefer that he stood in the open and got shot? What would you do if you were being shot at?

That would be a problem do sense the game has no regenerated health.Haha, exactly.
But why? they are months out from release and this is just to keep the Hype going.
E3 is what 3 months away, it will be a huge Blowout of Videos/Hand-On etc etc and then this will be when the game is shown.
Can we not just take this for what it? The new benchmark in visuals, with CGI level quality that has a premise that looks exciting and interesting with a world I want to play in.
All the QTE hyperbole and Corridor slating is really premature at this point..and I cannot see the reason for it??
http://www.polygon.com/2014/2/18/5421514/the-order-1886-ps4-gameplay-previewThe same goes for The Order: 1886's arsenal, which includes an arc gun that shoots electricity, the thermite rifle that spreads fire and a shotgun that can also blast enemies with a non-lethal concussive force.
"We're building weapons that were not only cool and technologically advanced but believable at the time," Weerasuriya said. "These weapons did not exist, but every piece of it, the research [pulled] from things that existed at the time." The discrete parts the metals, the capacitors, the wooden stocks are pieced together, then meshed with the spirit of modern-day weapons to create something fantastical, but grounded by some tie to reality.
"We don't use the word sci-fi, we make weapons that feel authentic to the time."
