From the CEO.Pfft, if any Uncharted 3 had less combat than Uncharted 2, certainly fewer gunplay moments overall.
Where is this 80% combat coming from?

TLOU was designed to mostly be combat with ebbs and flows between the combat moments. Puzzles were minimal. I'd say easily 80% combat. People who spend a lot of time exploring nooks and crannies and appreciating every bit of the world really can't be factored in here, developers can put that stuff in the world but they can't expect to include it as an expectation that the regular player will spend a lot of time exploring and finding ones and backstory etc.
We must've played a different game. Or our definition of exploring isn't the same. There was opportunity for heavy combat in most, if not every chapter, whether it was hand to hand, gun fire, or stealth. Perhaps its how well Naughty Dog blended them together what makes it "seamless". Which is exactly the type of experience that...*cough* RAD is attempting to deliver to us with The Order 1886.Stealth can be considered combat. So as I was saying...I spent more time exploring than in combat.
All I'm saying is The Last of Us has some serious downtime in between the action so his theory that cinematic games need to throw you from one action segment to the next is flawed.
That's true for the later parts of Summer and Winter maybe, but the outskirts, the entirety of Fall and Spring only had very few instances of combat.TLOU was designed to mostly be combat with ebbs and flows between the combat moments. The dude has made 32 posts, is the third highest poster on this whole thread, and he all heis doing is repeating the same damn thing over and over about how its just a TPS and that is so disappointing to him. 32 fucking posts of that and I'm somehow the problem for calling him out on it. He's polluting the thread with pages of constantly repeated complaints.
EDIT: and now he's banned so clearly I wasn't the only one who had a problem with it.
Is there a quote? From the CEO.
Not sure if serious
I really don't understand the people coming in here with the "So it's a TPS with QTE's?" posts. When the game was first revealed, there were guns and shooting prominently displayed, so why be surprised when there is shooting and taking cover shown? If you are dismissive of the game after what you saw today, then you should have been dismissive when it was first shown, because we still haven't seen much more than we did at E3. And all the drive by shit posts really need to be dealt with, because they add absolutely nothing to the discussion, and these people only care about pushing the buttons of other posters.

Well when people like you keep pestering him to explain himself, chances are that he will continue to keep posting.

Underlines The Order is first and foremost a TPS. However they wanted to show different things today. Says the game is 80% about combat.

Guys, I keep coming in here to see if the topic or the related debates are moving forward in any meaningful way, only to find people bickering with each other. Let's discuss the posts and not the posters. Please?![]()
He probably got banned because he needlessly insulted another user.
If you watch that Escapist interview, Ru says they chose to show what they did because they didn't want to feature combat/shooting because other games have done that in their gameplay reveals. I wonder if that was his decision alone, because that mentality is totally disconnected from the people who are paying attention to his game right now. The writing for both the E3 trailer and new trailer is also a bit underwhelming/generic.
Not really. There were more quiet moments as the game wore on but that's just juxtaposed against the moments of the game that were almost 100% combat. Even then the exploration was minimal. TLOU took me 20+ hours because I did stuff like watch the rain effect on windows and looked in every single room possible. But I wouldn't expect Naughty Dog to call it a 20 hour game if the average person takes 15 hours. Same goes for this percentage debate, if you're shooting right through TLOU then combat is easily 80% of your timeThat's true for the later parts of Summer and Winter maybe, but the outskirts, the entirety of Fall and Spring only had very few instances of combat.
That is... Odd. Why even make a shooter if you're not compelled to push it as the compelling featureIf you watch that Escapist interview, Ru says they chose to show what they did because they didn't want to feature combat/shooting because other games have done that in their gameplay reveals. With the way this director throws out the term "emergent gameplay" without really giving any examples of anything resembling it, I honestly wonder what's up with this guy.
I'm guessing there is a huge disconnect from what he does on a daily basis and what eventually trickles down to us, but it's baffling at times. If you're not ND, seems like Sony gets interns to handle the marketing. That is... Odd. Why even make a shooter if you're not compelled to push it as the compelling feature
They release that E3 trailer again.Man they finally put The Order videos up on PSN!
But then they go and make it where you can't full screen the video and it is the e3 trailer lol.
What are you doing to me Sony!
Can find it in PSN / games / coming soon / auto-plays from the window

Watched the videos, read the comments.
Am I to assume "looking like Gears of War / Uncharted" is derogatory?

Well, perhaps. But there is a significant difference between Infinite and TLoU in the amount of shooting. Maybe it is 99% vs. 80% I dunno, but from the way things felt TLoU had less than 80%. They were at least some sections where even with running through there was no combat for about 30 minutes straight, unless you were doing a speedrun of course. I somehow feel The Order will be more combat heavy. Who knows though. Not really. CoO sucked but GoS was great.
1-1 track record.
Yeah they re release the E3 trailer but cut it downMaybe I caught it too soon and they will have it in the main games section where you can full screen the download.
I watch those Destiny videos regularly. Always wanted to watch The Order on my TV but was not yet on PSN. Then they it up with the old trailer and no full screen lol.
It should be. Those are updated hourly. Most games jump once new material releases. Doesn't say much unfortunately (especially since TR is ahead).Heh the game is actually pretty high up on Amazon UK charts.

Re-watching that trailer knowing now it is 100% in game graphics gets me all warm and toasty inside.

- Familiar gadgets are featured in the game; Galahad is shown speaking into a "bulky but functional" communicator
- Combat follows the third-person shooter formula
- Galahad moves from cover to cover, firing shots from his semi-automatic pistol
- Galahad pistol whips an enemy, showing off a simple close-quarters melee attack
- When a surprise enemy attacks, a more complicated melee system described as a "unique variation on the familiar quick-time event" is shown
- Galahad's experience allows him to predict how different actions play out, so players can move the camera to different objects and interaction points to dictate how the character engages his enemy
- Weapons are "unusual and surprising"
- The feature mentions a "multi-purpose combo gun" and a "lightning-spewing arc gun"
- Many of the weapons are prototypes, so feel a bit of "wild and dangerous"
- The Thermite Rifle fires condensed aluminium iron oxide that scatters into shards, making enemies cough. After several shots a super-hot flare is fired into the clouds igniting them
- During an escape sequence, Galahad and Percival come across an injured man and drags him into a building, the camera zooms in close and the player is still fighting off rebels while the sequence of saving the man continues to play out, this is one of the game's "interactive cinematic moments"
How does RaD have an amazing track record if all they did was develop PSP games? Of course I'm gonna cut them some slack.

Sounds to me the QTA is only for special moments.
