From what I know there's the Blue Skin, and there are "pink skin" which basically look Caucasian.

Did the Kree have "color changing"? Remembering back to Captain Marvel on Earth, looking like a white guy, until Captain Marvel came out and he was blue.

They change their skin to look human, the blue skin ones. Pink skins are a minority.

Though I liked it, I feel like it may have told the general audience too little. Which is cool and all for a sci-fi movie, but this is taking quite a few liberties as is.

It told them that they don't know who they are and that it is OK to not know who they are. Which is good enough for me.

Oh man, I hope so. Imagine living in a world where cosmic Marvel is bigger and better than Star Wars (which itself owes quite a bit to old Jack Kirby comics).

Ha this was nice. I really like the way they introduced the characters. This trailer definitely focused on the comedic aspect of it and that is a nice way to introduce people into the whole weird side of the cosmic Marvel universe.

Can you guys elaborate a couple sentences about Cosmic Marvel universe? I google'd and got nothing. I have a feint idea since I've watched all the movies and know about things like the Infinity Stones from the Thor credits scene but not much.

Give them a little taste, get them talking. Then hit them with the money shot.

Even though it's little more than an introduction to the characters it doesn't really set the stage for being anything more than Firefly with aliens, which is awesome but niche.

Isn't that the point? GoTG is solely being made to introduce the Avengers audience to the Cosmic side of Marvel and set the stage for what will come later. Its not meant to become Iron Man and the core of the Marvel universe like Avengers

People really hung up on rocket and groot. This is Starlord's film. He will be the one showing up across the Marvel films. Not RR and Groot.
It's a raccoon with a gun and a fighting tree. Of fucking course people are getting hung up on them.

I know nothing about this movie other than it has a bad ass racoon. The acting from the Star Lord guy (only based on this trailer) is putting me off though :/

I liked it, but then again, I'm an old comic fan who is currently sludging through annihilation.

It's a little too cheeky for its own good. Even though it's little more than an introduction to the characters it doesn't really set the stage for being anything more than Firefly with aliens, which is awesome but niche.

Have they recorded Rocket or Groot's lines yet?

They're also probably waiting until the second trailer to sell Rocket at least. This is a good starting point and focuses on the most accessible character.

There are definitely some confused people out there but the comments sections on youtube and facebook seem way more positive than I had anticipated.

Cosmic Marvel is basically all the Marvel stuff that happens in space. Most of that shit has absolutely nothing to do with Earth and involves all the crazy alien stuff so it's almost a separate section of the universe entirely from the rest of Marvel (actually it technically is). Thus the distinction "Cosmic Marvel".

Trailer is not great and I worry how the general audiences are going to respond to it.

Being familiar with the characters though I like the tone and I'm interested in seeing it.

It's the Marvel Universe stuff that doesn't take place on Earth. It started with characters like Thor and the Silver Surfer and Galactus, and then elaborated on more with the Skrull Invasion, the Shi'ar, Thanos, stuff like that.

It really came to a head in the mid 2000's with the Annihilation event that reintroduced a bunch of obscure Marvel characters as the Guardians of the Galaxy and fleshed them out way more.

Someone else can probably elaborate way better than me.

Yeah the pink skin ones are a minority on Hala, their home planet. Man we could have the Kree/Skrull war saga if the rights of the F4 reverted to Marvel.

Thx! I hope this does well and we can see more of that.

Since I know nothing about GotG where should I start reading? Nova too. Would I be better off asking in the Comics thread?

Drax the Destroyer Mini
Annihilation tie-ins
Annihilation
Nova (Volume 4)
Annihilation Conquest: Star-Lord
Annihilation: Conquest
Guardians of the Galaxy (Volume 2, 2008)
War of Kings
Thanos Imperative

Rocket, maybe. Groot, yes as Vin has posted photos on his FB in the recording booth doing his lines.

Looks fun. It will be interesting to see if they can get people on board with this and Ant-Man. Both are definitely big tests for the Marvel brand.

Of the same camp - barely know much about the characters except how fun Rocket Raccoon is in Ultimate Marvel v. Capcom 3. Love the tone of the trailer - can't wait!

Might jsut be the nerd in me, but cosmic stuff was on and poping way before 2000. It really got going with the original Marvel Captain Marvel series.

I know absolutely nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy. I love the tone of this trailer and how it appears to be a comic book movie that doesn't take things too seriously, but I honestly didn't find any of the jokes all that funny.

Obviously when this movie makes all the money it'll also open the door for comedy Marvel and we'll finally get the Nextwave movie the world deserves.

It definitely was a thing loong before Annihilation and whatnot. That's just a really good starting point for the modern stuff.
