I still can't believe this is a movie before WW

A talking raccoon, a tree, batista drex, Zoe saldana in green and a parks and recreation actor, all playing C list heroes...CAME OUT BEFORE WONDER WOMAN

Hols the L DC/WB. Just hold it.

Dude, I'm still in awe that fucking IRON MAN got a movie before Wonder Woman.

Hmm...that was a pretty bad trailer for me. For some reason I thought this was going to be a more serious tone movie(eg, man of steel instead of green lantern). I never heard of the comic, so maybe that's their style

Why would Rocket NOT have the accent? I don't see a valid reason for him not to have it. Even a "We want to make sure people recognize Cooper's voice" is a horrible reason...even if they need the name recognition to help sell the movie.

No Marvel films going to have the same tone as Man of Steel, and Guardians was a pretty funny comic to start with anyway.

Trailer was awesome.

Long wait for trailer #2 for Rocket Racoon/Groot voice and more Ronan/Collector shenanigans.

I'd be very, very surprised if the public like this anywhere near much as something like Avengers. Too crazy, not enough present-day New York.
"Whose Iron-Men?"
"No one understands Gods in the Marvel Universe."
"Captain America won't catch on because people don't like flag waving heroes"

Everytime marvel turns a new property into a movie, people predict the public will be polarized, or give out a strange reason why it won't catch on. When will people just accept they don't don't know what the public wants?

I can believe a talking raccoon can be a superhero before....*gulp* a woman.

Just the way it is, breh.

Can stuff all their big name heroes in a superman vs batman movie

but still can't make a wonder woman movie

Captain America is a bad example because the majority of that movie sucked and everyone thought it sucked when it first came out. The only reason public opinion is turning on Captain is probably because of hope for the new flick, mixed with general Marvel hype building.

The tone looked way too hokey for what it was, I guess it's better than if they tried to play it straight but this looks like some early 2000's Marvel schlock.

Zoe Saldana looks goooood though.

James Gunn's direction does not.

The tone fit the comic perfectly.

Awww. This is still my favorite era of Marvel films. Even HULK.

And when it blows up and hits big.

"GOTG was super safe, of course it was going to make tons of money."

Don't remind us. :/

People keep repeating it like we don't know.

Every time you bring up that Iron Man, Ant-Man, and GotG all got movies before Wonder Woman, you are shitting inside of my heart, Gaf. It hurts. :(

Captain America is a bad example because the majority of that movie sucked and everyone thought it sucked when it first came out.

What a crock of fucking horseshit. Don't mistake the general reaction from a narrow demographic you're familiar with solely through your interactions on online forums with what actually happened in the world.

Captain America was decently recieved critically and financially, and the word of mouth wasn't a fuckin' firestarter or anything, but it was mostly positive.

"No one wants the Avengers/SHIELD stuff."

People perpetuating this Marvel vs. DC shit are like people marking out for Smackdown vs. Raw. At least the wrestling fans realize it isn't real.

I hope I'm wrong, and I'm and ready to be proven wrong. Just posting some thoughts.

the internet does not equal everyone. general audiences liked it quite a bit.

I'm slightly worried that this will be one of those movies I'll love, and GAF will love, but that will bomb all the same. A "Scott Pilgrim".

It really is remarkable that DC managed to learn the wrong lessons both from GL's failure (that superhero films need to be grim and gritty, that characters other than Superman and Batman can't carry their own films) and from Marvel's success at building a cinematic shared universe.

I know nothing about these guys outside of UMvC3, but this looks fun.

Since they pushed for him to be in that game, I assumed Nova was the lead in this.

That's not what RT says, or the BO for that matter.

And when it blows up and hits big.

"GOTG was super safe, of course it was going to make tons of money."
They knew it along.

"Of course it was going to do well. It was in space. People like space. Star Wars."

It has a 79% on rotten tomatoes...I would hardly consider that to be "everyone thought it sucked"

Those that mentioned a "Fifth Element" vibe I think are on the mark as that's what I'm getting from this trailer at least.

I like the general look of it I think and it did an alright job of introducing the main cast without giving away too much. More on Quill than anyone else, but he is the central focus so that makes sense.

Not sure about the comedy thus far. What was there seemed a bit too juvenile, though I did chuckle at a couple scenes.

I've got to give Marvel props for even doing this project though given how risky it is compared to their other works. The Avengers benefited from most of the team having their own movie to introduce them and lead up to it. This on the other hand is essentially introducing an entire aspect of the Marvel universe all in one film with a whole team, several antagonists, and an organization in the Nova Corps.

I truly hope it succeeds as I do like the Cosmic side of Marvel as well as these characters. One thing I was surprised to learn was that Knowhere is apparently in the movie so that may lead to at least hints of the Celestials.

Oh, and while this isn't coming out for a few months, anyone interested in Cosmic Marvel or who would want a collection might be interested in the Annihilation Omnibus coming out.

They are also putting out collections of the run of Guardians of the Galaxy that this movie largely draws from.

Basically every marvel movie thread is like this. And every time Marvel proves them wrong.

I cant believe Burt Macklin is movie star material. Damn that was a good choice for Star Lord.

The whole look of this film is amazing. I hope the movie destroys the box office.
