Yeesh.
Even after all this time I'm amazed that they designed all the pokemon back sprites at a certain resolution, then later in development said "Eh, we want them to be bigger...screw it just double the size even if it looks like crap."
When Gold/Silver came out I wasn't most excited about new pokemon, color graphics, time of day, or any of that. I was most excited about proper resolution back sprites.

The first two were an accident but I'm still angry at them for releasing Flareon. It had a good moveset but all this metastory hurted him.

The majority of the gym trainers use psychic types except for a few Arboks and some Sandlsashes. Koga uses Koffings and Grimers I believe.

The funniest part is they made all new sprites for pokemon yellow to reflect the anime/original vision or whatever, but still kept the shitty back sprites. It's incredibly jarring.

This is going to be like the Rock Tunnel where we beat one trainer then die.
Flareon is the worst Eeveelution unless Sylveon is shit or something (Leafeon and Glaceon arent great either). They really need to give it some more physical coverage. Its attack stat is wasted. Flare Blitz only helped a bit.

Those are mostly bots that input anarchy/democracy every 30 seconds.
There are clearly enough anarchy bots at this point that it's not switching unless a lot of actual people push for democracy. We've reached a nice balance.

Part of this was memory constraint. While larger GB carts were available, pokemon was already using a very large cart and they were expensive (like $20 of the cost of the game was the cart alone). By the time Gold/silver were out, the cost of manufacturering carts was reduced where space was less of an issue.

The flareon hate happened because jolteon is more useful in combat and vaporeon is more useful for surf (no guarantee that we will get a lapras really), it also just so happened that as soon as the flaeron was born other bad stuff happened.

Yeah but we're not doing a competitive playthrough here. Flareon should be just fine for a playthrough of this nature.
That opening is fantastic.
It would have looked better to keep the back sprites their original size. It's always been completely jarring, and I'm surprised Nintendo's quality control approved it as is.
