The romhack does not effect trainer battles. It's red version with the ability to catch the remaining pokemon... but I'm having a hard time finding out exactly where those pokemon are.

It was a series of unfortunate events.

Riddle me this, why did they go to the PC? Laprus wasn't needed until the seventh gym. Before that they needed to go to pokemon tower which, because they tossed the pokedolls they needed to go to to Team Rocket's lair. After that they would need to fight the fifth and sixth gyms, then get laprus. However they went to the daycare, failed then went to the pc before doing any of this. They didn't need to risk it at all but they did, and they did because of the image.
