Not as clean or large as I'd like but it works for me. Also, seating for only like 1 and a half, lol.

I really should get a couch...

Equipment:
60" Panasonic Plasma, Denon Receiver, Bowers and Wilkins Front and Center, PS4, Wii and Apple TV.

Nothing says I still live with my parents like a digital lock on your door..

lol, I have a finger print scanner on my door.... but it is mainly for my stepson who loves to destroy everything he touces and take things without asking. I also like the novelty idea of it. It stands out and looks cool.

I'm very thankful to have lots of light - really large windows and lots of lights on the ceiling; it certainly helps with photos. Though, the camera is pretty great, too, for a point-and-shoot. A Fuji X-10; I'd highly recommend it.

Thanks, I've had my eye on the X100s since I saw it on the pickup thread but £800 for a camera is far too much- I'm not even an amateur! The X10 price looks far more reasonable, I'll have to do some reading!

The uneven sizes of your monitors bothers me. But your blue LEDs soothe me.

Yes, dual monitors wasn't even my original intention. Just got a new monitor, then figured I might as well. The Dark Souls tin that's boosting the second monitor is OK though, ...right?

Probably not the final resting place of that high monitor. Just doesnt fit on my desk as is with 3 currently. My tv with PS4 is to the left. I also need to redo my cable management after the changes I made.

You should consider a new desk

Here's the most recent iteration of the setup. I miss my old place but this is still working pretty well.

Are all the older consoles connected to the display? If so, are you using some sort of switch to choose the input?
Yep.

All retro systems are fed into an XRGB which is then connected to the receiver.

I'm using a mix of SCART, component, and s-video switching. For some systems, such as the SNES and SFC, I just move the video cable between the two depending on which I'm playing but most of them are all connected at once.

I set the receiver to XRGB, choose one of the available inputs on the XRGB itself, and then select the desired system on one of the physical switch boxes.

great retro set up, wasn't expecting anything less from dark10x.

What Marantz is that ? i think i have the same (in silver though)

Fantastic! At the moment, I only have an N64 and my old Dreamcast, but they're plugged into the display in front of my bed. I don't have any switch boxes lying around so I swap the input cables on the TV when I need to change.

Again, a great setup

I love this! My living room setup looks similar to yours minus all the retro consoles. I have my PC hooked up to the TV in there but have been thinking about moving it to a dedicated desk. Seeing your setup makes me feel a little better about doing that. Comfy couch PC gaming doesn't work too well sometimes.

Guys need a little advice

this is my current setup http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=95726857&postcount=23

it's all in post 23 here

here is what I need to do, I need to create a room for X1 and PS4 consoles, and some other stuff too

Since I will be doing some renovation to the house, I will be doing some in my man cave as well, this is what I need advice for, shoudl I just add two cabinets alonside existing cabinet, and it would look like this in the pictires below

This will take more space alongside the wall, and once again will be a PITA for removing cables and stuff, because I will have to remove everything from wall (detach it) and then run cables, put it all back together, etc etc

ooooorrrr should I ditch it all and go with a lowboard design like this

a2lk3c.png

in this case metal frame would hold the TV, bolted behind lowboard and masked with wooden cover so it will look like everything is made of wood

Opinions?

Thanks

To me the 2nd one is much cleaner looking, but lacks in storage space. My question is .... what do you want more? Storage ability or clean space? I would say that the answer depends on what the rest of your room looks like. Also, if you are trying to get more space for new consoles to go in your setup with your consoles you already have... then the first one looks like the better option.

storage wise they both have same spaces... aprox 9 spaces for devices

new design have two compartment behind left and right doors + on top side as well if needed, and in all it is 40 cm smaller in design, so less space taken. Cabling should be a breeze here

Problem is I am right now at 50-50 on both, just need to collect as many opionions as I can... Thank you for your reply :)

Fuck me. What does TC do for a living and most of the others in here with literal THEATRES in their homes?

28 years old and nowhere near a career where I could afford this shit. Ugh... it's seriously time to put the gaming to the side and get to studying for a couple of years I think.

This is my shite for now:

(took recently because my family was visiting and my little sister was enjoying some LEGO Marvel)

That digital fingerprint scanner lock is… interesting. It's as though a chemlab is being operated inside. "Privacy?" I certainly would be uncomfortable with my wife locking herself in a room.

I prefer the cleaner look of the second option...

I like the more complicated extra shelf setup, it frames the TV a bit better , the second one obviously looks cleaner and at night , in the dark , it'll still look fine for watching movies and such but I'm not as big a fan on the minimalist approach. That's really what you have to decide dude. You redesigning it because you want to fit more stuff in there or are you wanting to make it look neater.

Also, Dark10X, setup looks excellent as always. One of these days I kind of wish I could pull mine out of the ghetto basement. Ghetto basement still basically looks like this - . Although my Uncles finally took down most of their deer heads, just one remains looking through your soul. I'm also in desperate need of some proper shelving , leaning towards one of those ikea billy shelves but I'm not sure where to set it up.

That's creepy as fuck! I would be paranoid out of my mind gaming in that room. Although I really have a thing about dead animals on walls; nightmare fuel.

Do you know the Razzies? Since I'm scared of making a thread, I dare someone to make a "Worst gaming setup: 2014" competition.

I'll give mye vote to the picture with assloads of the following:

Pillows
Wires
Empty boxed games with discs missing
Porn on screen(s)
Cookie clicker on screen
Crap furniture
Fastfood
Obesity
Gamepads with no charge
Party leftovers
Evidence of creepy streaming from couch with passed out girl groping
Edit: Antlers!

Perhaps it should be called Show us your realistic gaming setup: 2014.

Wow.... The deer heads look mental, bro.
I would crap my pants within 5 minutes playing any survival horror game in that room....

I nominate this for the ultimate horror game room.
Basement location [+]
Unfinished walls [+]
Visible wooden seams [+]
Brown recliner [+]
Deer heads on wall [+]

If the power went out when I would be playing a horror game down there.....dude...

Awesome, love it. At least you won't game alone in this room.

Ah, I always enjoy the comments whenever I post the ghetto basement. Although truthfully I thought of it more so as a hunting lodge while all those heads were on display. I've never been a hunter myself but a bunch of my family members are so the "trophies" don't really phase me anymore.

I should add , that despite appearances I have 7.1 sound with a 55 inch TV there , I've always been one for functionality more so then form factor so playing games or watching movies with that set up never really bothered me. The Neogaf comments ALWAYS make me smile. :D

Hmm actually I do want something neater, and I tend to like minilastic design more... less is more :)

So far more in favor for option 2... will see, will see

These Post are amazing! I finally invested in some LED light strips for ambient lighting in my room, thanks to you SetupGaf. I'll post a few pics once I pick up my TF XB1 next week.

I would 100% go with the second design. Looks really solid. My only nag is the three boxes up top are visually heavy, maybe make them just shelves if you really want them there or get rid of them altogether.

I should start cad'in up my ideas....

well I need some space to stack discs into... Boxes do the job just right, if I would to convert it to shelves, dunno how to support discs not to fall on the side. As for dusting goes it will be much harder, will need to take every disc box out dust it put it back, etc etc...
