3DS Streetpass Experiences

Can't believe I lost over a crapload of streetpasses I got in LA a week and a half ago after exchanging my 2DS for a new one. Even got one in the strip club :(

Weird, I Streetpassed a couple people earlier today and in my notifications it's showing duplicates. For Animal Crossing I have an entry that says "Model house of Person from Place." and another that says "Model house of Person from Place!", the only difference between the two being an exclamation point. They were both registered at the exact same time so it must have come from the same 3DS, and there are no duplicate model homes in the game either so it hasn't actually affected anything. Then why did my notifications show duplicates?

Also, what's the point of using magic in Find Mii? I'm currently on Find Mii II and it seems like outside of those special cases where you need to use magic to light the room or something it isn't useful at all. Magic attacks only ever do 2 damage and even a level 1 Mii can pull off 3 damage. Am I missing something?

Magic has a number of users.

- As you said, you need magic to clear some special rooms.

-It is useful for attacking enemies with high defense (as is the case in most RPGs). 0 defense, attack. High defense, use magic. Also, some enemies has specific weaknesses to weaknesses against specific magic types. For example, use fire against mummies.

-You can use magic to target multiple enemies at once. Again, in these situations you will do more damage than simply attacking.

-If you have a strong Mii (one you've tagged multiple times) or a team, it can be useful to freeze (light blue) or put to sleep (light green) enemies before having your heavy attackers go to work.

To expand on this last one, you can maximize a single turn of physical damage by doing the following in this order:
  • Use Purple magic to poison the enemy (1 damage per turn, or 2 damage per turn if you double up).
  • Use Orange magic to give yourself an extra hit (or two extra hits if you double up).
  • If necessary, you can use Green magic to boost your damage dealer by one level (or double their current level if you double up).
  • Then, as above, use either Light Blue or Light Green magic to freeze enemies or put them to sleep, finishing your damage dealing setup.

I've had a few weird AC Streetpass encounters recently. I had three very similar people called Daniel loitering around my plaza today.

I learned something new.

I learned something new.

I actually went back and researched the double Green effect - apparently it's actually doubling their current level, which is a liiiiiiittle different from just bringing them to the max level. Fixed above.

Also, be warned not to send the target of Green magic to the back of the line. I can't remember if this causes the magic effect to expire but I want to say it does.

Finished the Mii Garden. I'll still go for all plants and all gold, but not in a big rush.

I'm at 200 battles in Warrior's Way (And some unknown amount of greets). So close.

Just finally got all the Monster Manor weapons. Now I just need one more ticket in a gold chest, and the rest of the puzzle boxes.

Mii Force is down to just all the ranks and finishing Arcade Mode. Haven't attempted it in a while. I'll wait and one day just buy 3 light green, and fill the rest with randoms.

I have a hunch in a few months when I'm done, there'll be more...

Question! How many of you work with or attend dedicated StreetPass groups?

We have one in Aurora, Colorado.

Myself and one other person run the monthly event and we're looking for tips and other people who are interested in helping run an "After Dark" event which would be drinking and StreetPasses and a younger event in -say- McDonalds or similar places that would be aimed at a crowd that doesn't stay up late.

But yeah, if you're on Gaf and you also run StreetPass groups.. we need to communicate and raise our numbers! We only had about 40 people show up to the last event we did. Which is great. We kind of take over part of a Village Inn and we even have a specific waitress. We pooled together money for Christmas and gave her nice gifts.

So, umm. how many people here do that too?

I spent a bunch of coins so I'm only missing one blue piece on the new puzzle.

Went to Best Buy today to pick up some of those 20% off eShop cards and got passes from their StreetPass Relay Zone. No one had pink pieces.

I keep my 3ds in my backpack when going to school. I usually get about 10 people when I'm on campus. Most of the time they're the same people on multiple days ;0

Tye from StreetPass Arizona here! :D

Yeah, I don't see that much talk about StreetPass groups here on GAF, unfortunately. But there are a lot of us out there!

Some of our members have jokingly suggested an "after dark" StreetPass meet up, but it's never something that we actually considered doing, lol. We try to keep all of our events open to all ages. So yeah, not sure what tips to give you in that situation. But there are lots of things you can do to try to raise your numbers! I recommend making business cards and having them handy, and keep a good social media presence. Our group makes a Nintendo Direct spoof video series called StreetPass Arizona Direct in which we announce meet ups and such, and it's proved to be very helpful with raising awareness of our group and our events. Running panels at local conventions is always good, too!

Also, speaking of pink pieces, I was able to finish the new Super Mario 3D World panel over the weekend! :D

Cool. Cool. Working on the Business Cards and I went and subscribed to the YouTube page for you guys. I KNEW the group sounded familiar. You had that awesome StreetPass Me Maybe parody video! Keep rocking the awesomeness. We're going to submit panels at conventions later this year. But yeah, excellent! Also, JEALOUS of your Super Mario 3D World panel. Such panels. So Wow.

Yeah, Swapnote Me Maybe was huge for us! We're hoping to make other projects like that in the future, too. Unfortunately now it's just sad looking back on it given what happened to Swapnote... We'll never be able to Swapnote anyone again, maybe... =(

Maybe. I still hold out hope of a Swapnote Premium.

But yeah, now it's all MiiVerse. o_O

I finally got my 3DS to do the streetpass relay thing. I went to Mcdonald's for some food on Sunday and took my 3DS with me. Got 5 tags and all had new puzzle pieces for me.

Well, this is weird.
I recently started finding people with streetpass from my home. The only problem is that I'm Italian and I'm finding a LOT of English guys in stacks of 6 people.
Could this be related to the fact that I renamed my WiFi connection "_The Cloud" in order to obtain AC:NL Nintendo goodies? xD

That's exactly why. :P

But I did that last Summer and started to find people few weeks ago! :<
However, I'm thinking about buying new games for Mii Plaza at this point...

Well the StreetPass Relay system wasn't live in Europe last summer, so that's why. Now, if you have a "_The Cloud" in range, you'll tag it as a StreetPass Relay every 8 hours or so.

Right. Initially how it matched people in Europe is it stores the SSID and MAC address. Since you were the only person using your MAC address with the SSID, you never met anyone.

For Europe they changed how Miis were grabbed so it either gets Miis from other MAC addresses (which is why I keep getting Scottish and German people in my local relays) or just throws them into a central pool. I assume it only does this for European SSIDs like "_The Cloud".

That's cool, thanks a lot!
But there's a way to meet more than 6 people in a row?

It unfortunately does. Learned that the hard way when I sent a buffed Mii to the back of the line in order to set up a team up attack.

Wow. After asking about critical strikes yesterday, having never seen one in 1000-odd passes, I got the achievement this morning! I ran into a berserker, won the first round lost the second and was about to lose the third, and DING! Critical strike! Pretty happy with that unbelievable bit of luck.

That's just the number of transmissions in the queue for that title.

I always thought that was a dumb design decision. Why would I go into system settings to check the number of Streetpasses in my queue when I can just go into notifications? It would be cool if we could actually see the total number of data transmissions ever done for each title, although that number would probably get into the hundreds of thousands for some Streetpassers.

Ah. I assumed it was the total number of transmissions.

What a useless piece of data.

I assume it was done since here you have the ability to deactivate the title for StreetPass, and you may not want to do it if you still have passes still enqueued that would be blown away.

Yeah, I suppose that's it. Still, I would rather have a total count.

Got 24 plaza streetpasses today, just roaming around town.

Down to 8 flower species, but have no potential seeds. I don't know what to do, so I'm just chucking in some old flowers from my garden and hoping they do something useful.

7 of those 8 are phantom plants too. :/

I don't know if there is a good way to get the flowers you need. I've been stuck on 78 for months with very few chances to get a new one.

Great.

Although I assume I have enough to unlock the rest of the plaza tickets I need. I can buy the seeds that aren't supplied. Unless she asks for phantom plants too?

I don't think you need more than 60 plants (and it's probably fewer than that) to earn all of the plaza tickets. If you aren't done with the tickets yet, I'd suggest amassing as many short plants as possible. (To be considered short, plants have to have blossoms that are almost touching the rim of the pot.)

Completed the Mario puzzle today..... and it's crap.
Seriously is there some hidden joke I'm missing where they intentionally give Mario the most useless puzzles possible?

Completed it without spending a single play coin though which is something I haven't done for a loooong time.

I used to not spend play coins on Mii Plaza at all but I quickly found there was absolutely nothing else I would use play coins for. I've still not met anyone locally that has pink pieces for the new Mario puzzle though.

Wait, hold on. Does this actually work? All I do is change my WiFi connection's name and I'll be swarmed with Street Passes?

I thought that my lack of Animal Crossing streetpasses via relay might have something to do with the fact that I had a load of passes for other titles that I hadn't checked in months. In case there is a cutoff point or something.

I cleared the list of full queues for Kid Icarus, Mario Kart etc. so that I was completely streetpass-free, and crossed my fingers.

No Animal Crossing streetpasses.

I got passes for everything else I have activated. Except Splash or Crash, obviously. But nothing for Animal Crossing.

Something's definitely fucked up. I'm thinking it has something to do with the game itself, like there's a glitch related to filling your Showcase. But I'm at a complete loss really, and it's beginning to piss me off.

My Animal Crossing has been messed up for months and it's to do with Streetpass. I would still receive passes for it regularly but whenever I would enter the HH Showcase the game would crash. As soon as I entered right after talking to Digby I'd get the black screen of doom and have to turn off.
I tried de-and-re-activating Streetpass multiple times and whatever else I could think of but no joy.
I've fixed it now though!
In the eShop if you hit 'More Information' and scroll all the way to the bottom of a title you've downloaded there will be an option called 'Fix Software' (or something like that) which checks any downloaded game for errors. I ran the check and it reported there was a problem with my AC. The entire game re-downloaded but it kept my save data intact.
Since doing so I can now get passes again, it worked perfectly.
Sooooo... give it a try! I'd imagine the Streetpass portion of the game is prone to errors if we are anything to go by but hopefully this sorts you out too.

This sounds like a pretty good idea. But man, if anything happens to my save file...
I'll try it and report back.

Edit: No problems found. D'oh. Gonna repair anyway.
