Honestly, its not even about Sony not getting any substantial firmware out. Its honestly not.
For me, its about not getting any sort of update from them at all.
Gotta give MS praise. They went out there, and said and showed what they are working on and even gave a general timeline.

It's always been this way. I think there is one simple explanation for why this is.
As far as we can gather, the Playstation firmware teams have always been based out of Japan. Japan is not exactly known for being open and accommodating. They'll let you know when they think you should known, and not a minute sooner. That usually means you know a day before it happens.
Microsoft being a U.S based company has always chosen to be more vocal about what they're up to.

Don't know how MS's stance is on allowing us to replace the hard disk in the Xbox One. With the 360 using an unlicensed hard disk could result in a console ban.

It does that doesn't it. You have to put it on Instant on mode though. All my updates have done so while on this mode.

Yeah, but until now after the console downloads the update it goes to off (not stand by) and only installs the update on the next power on.
Now, the console will supposedly install on sleep mode too, when you turn on the console will be updated and ready for you

I didn't have to install anything when i turned my xbox on after the last major update. It went straight to the dash and let me play my game. Interesting though.

So I entered my code and it said it was the Xbox One preview. Then it popped up a notification that I could open the Preview Registration app which I did and it just gives me a loading screen. Is there anything for me to download or fill out in the app at this point, or am I good to go?

If it's stuck at the loading screen(like mine was) then power off your system and power it back on and run the app again. It should immediately prompt you to continue. I got this windows like loading screen all black background with white font the first time I clicked the app

Didn't get an e-mail but I did just receive an Xbox message with a redemption code. Loaded the app and registered. Now it says I have to wait 24-48 hours for the registration to process.

Not sure unfortunately. Might just be something to save their asses incase something goes wrong. I keep checking GAF to see if anyone got prompt for an update lol.
