Yea dudes that one isn't too big a deal but I am picking up the omnibus in May so if you guys could spoiler tag stuff it would be appreciated.

It's less a spoiler and more of a "writers forgot about this character after a while" sort of thing. She is travelling with Drax for a while and then she just kind of isn't there anymore. It's nothing Drax actively does or doesn't do nor is it part of the story in some way.

For like 7 years

It is more like nerd trivia.

Like Groot losing his ability to speak after like 2 issues. He just one day stops talking and just started the whole "I AM GROOT" schtick without any explanation.

Maybe Cammie took his voice.

Yea stuff like that is fine I just don't want anything too big spoiled and I am too weak willed to stay away from the internet.

The way she was being dragged across the galaxy made me think something big was going to happen with her, either by getting powers and becoming a hero or villain or dying at some pivotal character moment for Drax. She literally ended up being just some random tag along. She didn't die, she didn't get powers, nothing. Just disappeared in a space ship. Weird.

So, should we expect Vin Diesel's gravelly voice through most of the movie, then in the last 20 minutes, Groot takes a rocket to the face or something, regrows, and loses his voice?

Vin has already said he only has one line in the movie, so he's probably just going to say "I Am Groot" in different inflections throughout the whole thing.

Brief set visit report:
http://brandylyn.hubpages.com/hub/Spending-Time-On-The-Set-of-Guardians-of-the-Galaxy#

Nothing really of interest save the author toured the full size set for The Milano remarking how "jaw dropping" it was, though wasn't a fan of the grated floors when she was wearing a skirt with crew members working underneath...

She did further elaborate on The Milano in the comments:
the version of the Milano we explored was strickly the interior of the ship. Lower level was the bunks and general storage and the upper deck was basically the cockpit. When inside the ship it was a completed interior in every way. Hopefully in the movie they show a good shot of Peters bunk because the small details they added with 80's references are awesome. We did get photos together in the ship but they haven't been released yet. Once released I can attach to the blog.

I really can't wait for the art book when they release it to see the designs for all the ships and the interiors along with the sets.

I am not sure if anyone posted this when it first came out but James Gunn was on the Pointless podcast (Kevin Pereira's show). Here is the link to it on YouTube, and the audio podcast can be downloaded on the site (it is episode 48).

I just listened to it today and it is really damn interesting. Among other things, he talks about how he originally pitched Marvel with the idea to make a Hit-Monkey movie which also would have been awesome to see.

Oh My...

:The Movie

and that was going to happen before WW!?
I wonder if he makes an appearance in GotG?

It's wasn't a sneak attack. BP told him time and time again that Namor was going to pay for that Phoenix bullshit. What kind of king doesn't prepare for an obvious and telegraphed threat?
This all sounds hilarious. What issues encompass this entire feud between Namor and Black Panther?

Lol he was joking about Starfox not being related to Guardians right?

Edit: Jeez, that interview was amazingly hilarious. Is every Pointless this good? I've only heard this and the Geoff one.

Avengers vs. X-Men 8 is Namor attacking Wakanda. And in the new Avengers series Black Panther would occasionally look at Namor and be like "Ah ah son, you ass is on borrowed time".

Until BP dropped the hammer in Avengers #7

6 whole issues that Namor knew BP was coming and he was going to bring hell with him.

THEN Namor the punk ass bitch has the audacity to think about revenge instead of crying like a little turd. He tricks one of Thanos' generals to attack Wakanda but fails.

If Guardians is a hit, I can't see why the general audience wouldn't love a Hitmonkey-film. Although my favorite Hitmonkey fight will never be in it :(

They can be pretty hit or miss. It really depends on who the guest is. I loved how Kevin was actually ready to wrap it up and conclude and James told him to keep going.

Also has Rockets origin been discussed in here yet? James Gunn sheds some light on it in the podcast.

Apparently Rocket is the result of an experiment and is the only one of his kind.

That's funny, because I remember some gaffer (?) saying that he was SHOCKED by how well it looked considering how utterly putrid the concept art was.

It was licensing artwork where they take production concept art, CG renders and promotional stills and throw a bunch of goofy elements on it so it's the crap stuff you see on kid's bikes, stickers or skateboards etc.

The actual stills and art looks great including *REDACTED* and The Milano but maybe the gaffer in question would like to elaborate more so I don't get in trouble. lol

Here's a rundown of info from the AMC Q&A if you don't have 30 minutes to spare.
  • The second trailer will show more a more dramatic side of the film and will be released in the next few months.
  • Feige said there may not be a post-credits scene, but there probably will be.
  • Gunn said the trailer captures one aspect of the movie really well.
  • Much of the movie was inspired by Abnett / Lanning run of comics.
  • Gunn talked about saying no a million times about casting Chris Pratt "the chubby guy from TV", before changing his mind after the audition.
  • Pratt talked about wearing the mask. They bolted it to his head, he could see through it, there was a microphone in it and it looks really cool. :)
  • Bug will not be in the film. Feige mentioned a sequel if the first movie is successful.
  • The tone of the movie is said to be about the characters. Gunn talked about the importance of Rocket Raccoon being believable and not 'Bugs Bunny in The Avengers'.
  • James Gunn didn't know how big the song "Hooked on a Feeling" would be after the trailer came out.
  • 'Hooked on a Feeling' will be in the film. There will be a lot of other cool songs in the movie.
  • Cosmo will probably be in the film judging from Kevin Feige's reaction (or maybe not).
  • Gunn talked about how he hates making movies, but feels driven to make films. He doesn't really like the shooting of films, but he enjoyed making this movie more than he makes other movies.
  • Pratt talked more about his weight loss and the training he went through that took 7 months.
  • Feige said, "It couldn't be more distant in the geography to the other films. 99% of this movie takes place on the other side of the galaxy...There are a handful of characters in the movie that will carry through to the broader threats of the other Marvel movies."
  • Gunn talked a lot about giving the actors roles they hadn't done before.
  • Gunn said, "This is at the core of it, a character piece...it really is driven by the characters and their relationships. Finding actors who could exhibit the different roles...giving actors the chance to do something they haven't done before...We need to make Rocket as real as possible."
  • Chris Pratt said, "I couldn't find all that much about this character (Starlord)...I told James I have nothing but questions...James said "there are many incarnations of the character but we are looking for something to breathe their own style into this character.""
  • Kevin Feige said, "All of us wanted to do something new, original....doing something most people hadn't heard of....We are excited about doing something on the other side of our universe."
  • James Gunn said, "Guardians of the Galaxy is a team of outerspace criminals who get tossed together and find themselves in the presence of something evil...so they fight evil together.

It was posted in the MCU thread in Community but this showed up:

Screencap of the ABC special airing on Tuesday. The show is pretty light on GOTG stuff "blink and you'll miss it" but there are a couple of good shots of Ronan. The cap has Ronan with Nebula behind him getting ready to battle at Knowhere it seems.

Awesome. Cannot wait for this.

One question though, is it confirmed that one of the main settings is going to be at Knowhere? If it is, that's pretty far from Earth. Like across-the-universe far.

To clarify my bitching on that one point: I don't have a problem with the actual MCU Nova designs, or even with the idea of the Novas being reduced to Walter Pecks for the purposes of this one film, but it seems like a rather shortsighted direction to take as far as the future of the cosmic MCU is concerned.

Glenn Close looks so badass with that hairdo.

And Gamora is fucking FIERCE. Look at that belt!

Ooh, is that a skull on her belt? That's a nice nod to her comic costumes.

Also, it looks like Ronan's costume actually might have a green tint that wasn't apparent on the toys, so yay for that.
