Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

Didn't catch it live, but I'm glad the team pushed through. That team was really like a cobbled up version of the A-Team.

From the TVTropes article:

:lol

I hope Nintendo puts a tip of the hat, no matter how small, to TPP in their next mainline Pokemon game.

In my wildest dreams: a high-level post-game trainer driving an ATV erratically around a remote piece of desert with the full hall of fame team.

Nice but obviously fake, especially because of the text box, no desertion either :)

Sadly it is indeed fake.

Note the time... not even the same pokemon being faught.

Also I hope they don't even bother with the democracy anarchy thing from the beginning. The beauty of the first run through was it developed its own narrative and that system was part of it. Gold/Silver/Crystal needs to develop its own trying to avoid as much influence from the Red narrative as possible.

Me too, but I sense it will still be there. And he probably won't take them out of the chat command list either, we didn't really need to see those votes on there since we had the bar.

I think it'll be impossible to not have a forced narrative. With Red it just kind of happened for a while, and eventually got a little forced (but stayed spontaneous to the end). With G/S/C there will almost immediately be people trying to cobble a story together, a religion, nicknames, etc. I don't mind if Red's party is the one from this game, because that would be boss, but beyond that I'd rather this narrative stay out of it. Some things will definitely seep through though, and I don't think we can ever see any of the big player Pokemon from this game in the next without screaming, "ITS LAPRAS GUYS HE CAME BACK FOR US" etc. Take Pidgey, there's quite a few early on in Gen II, even Faulkner's gym has a bunch. The cries of "Bird Jesus returns" or "Bird Jesus is reborn" or etc. will be too great.

Can we please play a slightly modified version of G/S where Red at the end of game has the same team as this playthrough?

Show your support and lets make this happen. Its simply fan service!

I think it could happen. Most likely it'll be a dialogue from a trainer in the Battle Maison/Subway/Tower equivalent.

A trainer stuck below a tight ledge, one with an erratic path that doesn't say a word when he spots you but gives you a moonstone when you defeat him and a scientist in a museum/fossil revival lab that mentions a fossil being worshiped.

Just finished watching the final E4 run, and damn, Battery Jesus was thundershocking people into oblivion left and right. And the run seemed to have gone off without a hitch for the most part.

Couldn't have asked for a better run short of like Lord Helix or Bird Jesus delivering the final blow or something.

So hyped for GEN 2.

I can't believe 30k people still watch the stream.
I'm really looking forward to begin with silver. Hope it will be as good as this one.

I cant see it being anywhere near as popular, although yeah there are still 30,000 people watching the stream even though absolutely nothing is happening lol. So I guess it could have a chance.

It happened while I was asleep, but watching the video of it is still awesome. I can't believe they finally did it, that was fantastic. Can't wait for Gen 2, really hoping they're taking the break to hack in the TPP team for end-game Red like everyone wants.

I'm starting up pokemon Soulsilver to play alongside round 2 of TTP (I haven't played gen 2 nearly as much as 1 so I need a refresher course), and I've been going over the pokemon we will meet early game.

Many of them (furret, hoothoot, ariados, ladeyba) are really, really ass, either all the way or until they learn their decent moves at a very high level (40-50). However, mareep and wooper are relatively awesome so we should try hard to pick them up when we can.

Someone's gotta tell them it exists first. They don't know what's goin' on with the internet. If they knew about Twitch, they would probably shut the stream down.

Even then, they would shut the Tetris stream by mistake.

I'm fairly certain that the Nintendo's localization team is incredibly savvy to the Internet.

Just watched the highlights. Venemoth and Pidgeot using up the blizzards, disabling the hydro pump, still wish zapdos used thunder instead for the epix. Glad the surf and sky attack came in when needed.

Still say that zapdos was crucial to winning this fast. GG twitch.

You can't live it if you weren't there

I feel you. I missed the final battle due to sleep. Watching how it all ends just isn't the same as being a part of it. I started watching early Valentines day. Crazy to think it has been over 2 weeks. Crazy to think when I started watching there were only 2,000 people. Now even with the stream just displaying a "The End" message, there are 30,000 people watching.
