The Double Cherry would be perfect for showing off the Wii U's power. It... almost certainly couldn't happen on the 3DS, but no biggy there. We already know that it's more likely than not that the two versions will have different Assist Trophies/Poke Balls, so why not different items, too?
The Cat Suit, as hilarious as it would be, would be impractical from a realistic standpoint. Making new modes for everyone in the cast to look like cats would be... something. If they included it it would be simplified, probably to cat ears and a tail, similarly to how they simplified the Bunny Hood. That runs into the issue of little cat ears and a tail not being nearly as visually distinctive as large bunny ears, though.

I can't. Modeling catsuits for every character would be way too much work.
Well they'd probably make it so that only one can spawn at a time like they do with assist trophies in brawl. Olimar and ice climbers would be problematic though.
