PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

One of the things that put me off the most in Theatrhythm is how "fake" the battles are. There are absolutely no battle elements at play in them, it's just a visual theme. Once the song ends, whatever monster was still alive just fades away, proving that there was no actual battle being played out. That's so dumb. And yet people are praising it for some reason. I don't get it. The game does absolutely nothing interesting, it just rehashes FF music straight from the original games (with no rearrangement to improve sample quality) with really silly looking visuals. Everything about this game screams "let's shamelessly milk the Final Fantasy franchise" with no actual love put into it.

Damn this post makes no sense.
It's must a rhythm game.

Pretty much.
I wanted a 3DS for Luigi's Mansion 2, DKCR3D, and the new LoZ.
Only one of them lived up to expectations and now my 3DS is just collecting dust.
Luigi's mansion is bloody boring though. 2nd game I played on my 3ds. Promptly sold it. The new Zelda however, is pretty awesome.

You realize the items you get are dependant on the number of enemies you kill during the song, right? Because that totally sounds like a "battle element" to me. It's about defeating as many enemies as you can, instead of trying to defeat one enemy in a time limit, which I think is the smart way to do it. I thought the game was dripping with charm and love... I went into it expecting to like it, but it ended up in my top 3 GotY list.

Come on PSN! Update your goods already! Its already the fifth here!

Man, I wish we could get a port of MGS Peace Walker HD for Vita. Going back to the PSP version after playing the HD version is jarring to me, even with the camera assigned to the right stick. And seeing how the chances of the Vita getting an original title in the MGS series is basically zero at this point...

On the subject of PDf, I've been looking at some gameplay and I'm not feeling it. Especially the vocals, which really annoy me for reasons I can't quite place. I'll check out the demo to be sure (I do enjoy rhythm games) , but it looks like it'll be a pass for me.

Finally, if anyone cares, the final build of Starlight Inception was submitted to SCEA and SCEE yesterday.

I was interested in that game until everyone who played the beta said it wasn't good. Hope they could fix the problems people had, the beta was quite some time ago.

It definitely didn't feel good. The sense of speed was missing so the action felt dull. I want to swoosh and bang bang boom. I only felt zzzzzz.

Is it possible to get a sense of speed in an open space game? One bit looks very much like another.

Will wait to see what impressions are, but I like the idea of that kind of game on the Vita.
I like the idea of every game on the Vita

Dunno if old but here is the Miku lauch trailer

Alright already, MikuGAF! I'm in. The edit mode and Rin's "Why not, I don't know" pulled me in. Not to mention Luka.

Hmmm. I think it needs something like this?

Where things go past you within your peripheral vision. If only the Vita featured vibration then I'd like that to also be included when you boost.

Yeah, but that kind of stylised design seemed at odds with what I remember of the game which seemed much more grounded in realism.

I suppose if it's busy then they could achieve some sense of speed, but travelling between locations would seem slow.

Seriously? People like you are the reason games don't get licensed for US release.

I would have gladly paid for a retail copy no fuss.

PS+ is the only reason I have mostly digital games, but it's affordable. If I'm going to spend more than $20 on a game I want to at least have a physical copy.

Okay, I'll be the one to ask.
Is Miku ACTUALLY a good game? Or just the product of some weird kind of gaf inside joke?
PDf is my favorite rhythm game on the Vita (not that it's saying much). Definitely worth buying as long as you can tolerate the music.

And here is where I bring up the argument of 'be glad we're getting the game at all'.

About Vita TV, will other region games work on it? For example, will the US or european version of Soul Sacrifice work on the Vita TV, or will only the japanese (and maybe asian too) version work?

Some games from myther regions will work. But it is hit and miss. I'd suggest waiting for the device to officially release in your region.

Only if it's a physical copy. The Vita TV right now can't access any other region other than the Japanese one.

Some work but most western Vita game cards don't have support for VitaTV. Even games that had support for VitaTV in Japan lack it in their western release.

Thanks, everyone :)

Which part of it sounds like a joke ?

I think they are pretty serious.

The voices?

Joking

I'm not going to buy the game right now. I'm not into rythm games neither into vocaloid. If it's on sale for 20 or less euros in a couple of months I could give it a try.

I hope the PSN store updates soon. I want to download Dead Nation and hopefully the preorder for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is up.

I love how "tolerate" is the best you can do for Miku's music.

I'll stick with Lumines or Runner2 for a Vita music game.......

Well, that's the most common complaint by far I've seen for why someone didn't want to buy the game. Believe it or not, there are people who actually enjoy Miku/Vocaloid music.

Lumines and Runner2 aren't really music games.

Figured I would ask here and hopefully someone can answer. I'm considering buying the PSP version of the original Puzzle Quest as I was a big fan of the game, and am wanting to spend some time with it again. Is there anything that would make the PSP version a no go?

I don't mind all of the J-pop stuff to be honest, it's happy music.

Also Runner2 is pretty much a rhythm game, all of the actions go in time with the music.

I have my complaints too. I really would be super duper mega hyped for this game if the voices would change in each song when its replaced with another character. Sadly it doesn't and I want my Luka.

Lower the price of memory cards

or

Lower the price of digital media.

Until then, the only digital games I buy are Indies and stuff on PS+

You're gonna miss out on a lot of stuff man. Imagine if a game like Ace Attorney which only released as DD only would be on PSN. Besides, doesn't PDf have a physical copy?

It's at half the price the JP version launched at, and works out to less than $1 a song - each song with four difficulties, so four distinct charts to play. I personally think it's a fantastic value, and enough that I'm buying the game for a fourth time to show support for it.

Only on PS3 (which is PDF, not PDf).
