Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

The stream needs an emergency instant democracy option.

But then the current democracy system would be pointless.

I think it should remain as is, even if it does present problems with evolving.

EDIT: That said, the threshold for switching back to anarchy should not be as low as it is.

How many compound commands can we do for one democracy vote? From the reset point, I believe we need to do: Up 1 Right 3, Up 4, Left 4, Up 3, Right 4, Up 3, Left 2, Up 4.

Don't forget A.

I'm pretty sure it can take all of those inputs. But it's just getting past the instant anarchy vote that makes it a problem.

TBH I'm kinda glad we're stuck. We were breezing through this game way too easily.

What does pressing start accomplish? I'm reading that it helps everyone coordinate their next moves, buffering them up, but it seems a bit too chaotic for that to happen.

Just eats a bit of the delay, that's all. Not a big thing but it helps a little.

Stream's down. Maybe he's finally noticed the major flaws of the new voting system.

Because of input lag, even after we say, get to the farthest right point of the invisible floor, right commands will still be inputted for like 20 seconds after we get there, even without trolls present. Pressing start allows these right commands to be inputted without sending us back to the beginning, and gives time for people to start pressing up so we can move on.

So yes, start is a "buffer" for extraneous commands and dealing with lag. If this gym is ever possible in anarchy (it's not), we'd need tons of start spam to do it.

Now, it accomplishes nothing, because people press b to negate the start. But back in the days before the idea of democracy existed, it was part of the meta strategy to defeat the ledge, and the idea was to wander around in the menu for at least 20 seconds, so that latency could be compensated for.

Looks like no changes to democracy so far. Presumably he just fixed the bug that was causing it not to start on the hour.

The Abyss is exactly what this stream needed. Before there was no real conflict. No real heroes. And no time is more likely to forge heroes than wartime. That's what we have now. Here's where TPPCrystal's unique culture can begin to form.

Thanks for the answers! Although interesting they are different. I guess if enough people can follow a plan it can happen, but I think we're going to be stuck here long enough for a new system to be put in place, if just temporarily. Does the streamer make comments anywhere?

Agreed, much like the original ledge, it's good to be stuck at something for like 9 hours. That's where the good jokes/fanart/lore starts to happen.

You should account for the fact that many are actually trying to input the right directions, so it's not as bad as flipping 20 coins and getting 20 heads. We still have very low odds of making it tough.

I called it soon after the system was introduced, it was inevitable that it wasn't going to work when we had to try multiple times in a row. The trolls are too invested in TPP.

So to prepare everyone for the upcoming democracy, here are the commands floating around:

The Reddit livefeed has b5right7down3right9down2left5up5right2up5left4up3right4up3left2up4a listed as the command that should work.

The Progress Doc says up3wait5right9down3right9down9left4up4right2up3left3up2right3up2left1up3a is the command needed.

The chat seems to like the first one a little more, and I'm inclined to agree because there have been errors with previous commands, and the livefeed is updated more often than the progress doc, making it more likely to have a tested, correct command. We'll see how it works out. The worst thing would be for anarchy to win because of a vote split.

It's still during 20+ seconds of delay. "The right direction" during any given moment of the stream might be the wrong direction.

The problem with that long command is that there is no way it finishes before the next command to win hits the interpreter.

It's not going to work. I'm not convinced this can be beaten without streamer intervention.

This too. Account for twitch lag as well. Even if the command were to hit and finish, the right commands from the wrong spot = start over.

Democracy is finally instated. Holy shit at these long commands though. Can't wait till people realize longer commands don't work because it gets overwritten every 30 seconds...

Yeah, it also probably didn't help that we had no idea where we'd start from.

And why the hell are people voting up right here? Lol

Using long commands is stupid because:

1 - They get overwritten before they are fully completed.

2 - You have to account for the exact place you're in when democracy starts.

3 - Lag.

b5right7down3right9down2left5up5right2up5left4up3right4up3left2up4a is designed to work from anywhere. The b5 is to exit from any menus we may be in when democracy starts. The right7down3right9down2 is to get us to the bottom right corner from anywhere, so the correct sequence from that location can then start: up5left4up3right4up3left2up4a. The question is whether it can be carried out in the time allowed.

It can't

We must discover the code to win us the game in one single command!

So...what!? They want to do this manually from here? :/. I don't have a lot of hope.

Edit: They are! It's clear they still don't know how to take lag compensation into consideration so this is not going to work.

Edit 2: Holy, holy helix fossil, they're doing it!

Edit 3: :'(
