Probably cause:
1. Jhoto is a lot more easier to traverse than Kanto.
2. Cut doesn't require you to use the menu lol.
3. You don't have to do many things between the gym badges.

GSC's dual regions brought up very bad level scaling, League Champion Lance's best pokemon (Dragonite) is only level 50. Plus we're pretty much only using Feraligatr.

Expected. I'm not against using Democracy for "impossible" tasks like Morty's gym, or the Victory Road puzzles, or the Safari Zone, but it makes me mad seeing us fall to Democracy to evolve Pokemon, or beat simple areas.

Also seriously I wanted a Chikorita. Makes me sad seeing us only use the Gator, level up and use Togeipi and Eevee. D:
