You could hold the charge forever.
Did he really need the nerf then?
I wonder if they boosted this attack's knowback to balance this out.

Lol @ you implying that villager, WFT, Rosaluma, & Little Mac are boring then in the same breath admitting you don't know who to add, THEN suggesting square enix characters would be better than said revealed newcomers. Wut is this I don't even.
In what world is a total pacifist gone blood thirsty, a fitness trainer who fights with yoga and exercise equipment, a space goddess puppeteer, and an in-fighting boxer that moves fast and low enough to dodge under and superman punch through projectiles, MEH?
0_o ...I've been taken haven't I?
What makes you say that his jet hammer is anywhere near as strong as the K.O uppercut? Sakurai says nothing like that. He says that it can't beat it, implying it is probably the strongest attack in the game.
Not sure about some of these new character additions to the Smash Bros. series, Mega Man is a great addition, but the rest are all pretty meh. Having said that, I can't really think who else I would add given the opportunity, since most of the big, iconic characters of old are already in.
Every character from Chrono Trigger? That'd be pretty swell. Doom guy, with the BFG for his final smash, awww yeah.
So basically Japan consists of people who never heard of Punch-Out and those who do and thus know of its popularity overseas. I mean Captain Rainbow's getting mentions and that sold like six copies so Punch-Out Wii must have performed even worse!
"Pic of the day. So far, which attack can blast away enemies the most dynamically Is it King Dedede's fully charged Jet Hammer? Nah, it can't beat the K.O. uppercut. You can damage yourself by overcharging this attack, so watch out."
Why would he compare the power of those two moves, if there wouldn't be very close to another.
I like the avatar argument because it basically ignores the fact that Mario was essentially designed to be an avatar for all of Miyamoto's games. This is why they had no problem throwing him into so many game in the past consisting of multiple occupations. Oh yeah, and Mr. Game and Watch.

And the fact WFT isn't one. She's the instructor. Pretty sure the avatar in Wii Fit is one's Mii.

Who have been interesting to compare if Marth had been a revealed character back in the Melee days.
I didn't say I liked Mr. Game and Watch either to be fair and, it's been a while since Mario was used in that capacity.
Basically the original super smash bros. character roster sets the benchmark for what kind of characters they had in the roster; every playable character was a main character in a major series (F-zero maybe being the least known, and Jigglypuff being possibly the only questionable character despite her constant appearances in the anime). They seem to be getting a bit far away from that when they add characters like R.O.B, Wii Fit Trainer etc.
I actually do know who he is then, seems like a pretty viable addition.

Is that Pikachu's Down Taunt?
I don't play the chu much so I can't remember which one that is.
The one where he gets all adorable and rolls around.
Yep.
Pikaaaa~
This. I think they did an excellent job picking the newcomers this time around. They seem focused on covering as many Nintendo franchises as possible. Many of those characters are absolutely essential to Nintendo history.Villager - main character
Mega Man - main character
Little Mac - main character
Wii Fit Trainer - face of the game
So that only leaves Rosalina and that's only because the main character is already in the game.
Pika! I loved that taunt for Pikachu. I guess they changed up Dedede's hammer attack.
My comments on the video:
- The "infinite" not being escaped is probably due to no DI (directional influence) being used
- Heart rate thing appears when Little Mac gets hit, doesn't indicate timing
- That idea of having a Kirby boxing ring is brilliant and would be pretty cool with how they tease Dedede being in the ring constantly
- Star KO and Screen KO are not there because it is a trailer (someone else pointed this out in the thread, don't remember who) and IntelliHeath has already mentioned that this image most likely shows a Screen KO
- Someone in the comments pointed out that when Mega Man and Bowser are KO'd, Little Mac gets some red flashes, I don't remember that being pointed out before

I actually posted that after 12 AM so I was talking about Thursday's pic. You'll see.TEE HEE HEE!
WTF? It just gets worse the further I read down too. I guess ever company mascot is a generic avatar.

I love how the circles show up when Mega Man gets knocked out. Nice touch!
Where were you guys for the E3 trailer?Oh wow, Megaman explodes when he dies. That's a neat effect.
Does this means that Megaman will not die bouncing on the screen or turning into a star ?

I wish Mario's hitting the screen KO resulted in his splatting against the screen so his arms and legs are stretched out so he ends up looking a bit like his SMB sprite when dropping down the screen.
I think Sonic should have an unique "dying" animation too (maybe when is vertical K.O'd), Something like this:

I wish they would implement the time out rules the community uses as an option: most stocks left wins, if stocks the same then least % wins, if that's the same then... play out sudden death? Or do a 1 stock match. Don't even remember. I enjoy sudden death but I kinda wish it was an option for the game to just choose who won based on lives/%.
Which reminds me: the most baffling thing about the Smash Bros. series has to me has always been that time is the default match type. Tripping makes more sense than this. Time matches are universally awful (for item matches, Falcon punch 4 for alls, competitive tournament matches, and every other style of play). Even the game's own single player mode isn't obtuse enough to try and use them. What's more, it's one of those few options that for whatever reason we can't save.
Do any of you guys enjoy/prefer time matches? I know we have a wide range of preferences around here, I'm curious what others think.
With Mega, I don't think he'll have a front screen bounce. Star KO explosion will be perfect though, and better happen.
I disagree. If I tend to get killed four times before I can kill them four times, I'll still probably lose a time match. SD counting helps a bit, but I think the skill gap would still carry over.Time matches seem to allow a wider range of results than stock ones, allowing worse players to win more often than in stock. I guess that's the main reason for time being default in multiplayer but not be used in the single player.
This makes a lot of sense though. Well said, and I don't know why it's never crossed my mind. It still isn't fun for me, but at least the decision doesn't seem quite as backwards to me. It does make sense in free for all then. In teams share stock would alleviate it though, and in 1v1 it wouldn't be a thing. I can understand the general expectation being four players in a free for all though. It comes back to that friendly for everyone thing, right? In a time match, everybody gets to play to the end, no matter their skill level and regardless of if they're just spawning and getting killed dead right away. On a stock-based modes, lesser players may be out in the first 2 minutes and may have to sit for another 3 or 4 waiting for the match to finish - they'd spend more time watching than playing.
I think I did this for a few months in 64's multiplayer, before I realized all the options I could change. So I could understand missing the menu.^
Played the first two years on Time Mode, before I discovered Stock Battles (no idea how I missed the options menu XD) in Melee. It was awesome during that time, but stock battles still were a revelation.
I do not think modern sonic does that, so that maybe it.I was always surprised they didn't do this in Brawl. Such a missed opportunity.
He doesn't, but Modern Sonic in Brawl already incorporate some traits from Classic Sonic, like the "Figure Eight" in his "You're too slow" taunt. It wouldn't be a problem.I do not think modern sonic does that, so that maybe it.
I dunno
I think most modern sonic games have the guy fall over or fall to his death.
Mostly the latter.
Like I mentioned above, I think stock is by FAR the best option for any mode. Even free for all, unless there are huge skill gaps. The rationale is there, but I think even casually stock match are way more fun. I'd still buy the new Smash game, but I'd probably send a couple angry tweets to Sakurai and shelve the game after a few weeks, lol.How do y'all felt if Sakurai decided to nerf competitively matches/tournaments by removing stock matches from the options? (It's unlikely to happens but just what if?)

That sounds more like the case. They did say they wouldn't use Classic Sonic again after Generations, if I recall correctly. Which is a damn shame :/Maybe that thing in particular is just something sega doesn't want to do, or forget rather.
Classic sonic is extra dead now
