Infamous Second Son has gone gold

You will never ever drive a car in a inFAMOUS game.
People should stop with this.
If you wanna drive cars, buy the next GTA or Saints Row.

This obsession with being able to drive in Infamous games has to stop. It would be the most useless thing Infamous games.

Mmkay.

So it looks like that HUD is final? They could have done better.

I don't think this is the final build becuase you still see the same things since the Feb meeting gameplay. Probably still the same though.

I wonder if the world in this game has any sort of substance, the worlds in the first two were really dull and almost nothing to do besides story missions and repetetive secondary missions.

Waiting for impressions before I consider this game.
Yeah me too. I wanted to like the first 2 games but after playing something like GTA 5, Second son needs to be more alive and interactive than the first two games.

Game isn't worth it unless I can play Nine Men's Morris and Checkers against Reggie.

What sort of side activities would you even want in a game like this outside of the types of side missions you found in previous games?

- Graffiti missions.
- Missions where you make a civilian feel like a super hero. Basically give them piggyback and they have a happy meter. You have to use your traversal and verticality skills to make the civilian scream with joy.
- missions that involve trophy data of past games for some neat easter eggs like in infamous 2.

I noticed a lot of people were adding the beanie to their avatar...figured I might as well too! :)

You forgot something.

This is insane. I don't think 4 million people are interested in this game. Who has this on repeat? Confess right now.

It's an ad. It popped up for me when I went to watch the "Let It Go" song from Frozen.

Had to see what all the fuss was about, lol.

So does sony plan on marketing this at all or is it going to be typical first party support where it's sent to die?

It's the first big PS4 exclusive after launch and there's nothing as sizeable coming any time soon, they don't really need to advertise it that much, it should sell well regardless.

It will sell well, plenty of people waiting.
It's going to be even more interesting which one of the March Exclusives (TF or ISS) will sell better?
How many bundles will each sell?

I can see Titanfall selling better but Second Son will shift more bundles.

They're right.

Honest question, have you played Saints Row 4? Vehicles became obsolete pretty early on once you got the running and jumping powers.

Sure but having the option never hurts. In MGS4 you can purchase any weapon you want from the get go does that mean no-kill runs are pointless? I want to interact with the world not only as a super human but also as human.

All I'm hearing from people who don't want vehicles is their own projection and how they feel other people should play the game. You know what? I enjoy tapping X to get on roof tops I couldn't care less if I can also do it with a press of a button with neon powers. Will I use it? Sure but do I have to? No.

For a game about choices I wish one of them was the ability to get into vehicles or not. Especially now they have no excuse why Delsin can't drive a car, it's a disconnect with the world. Makes it feel like you're living in this super power vacuum. A problem that infamous franchise has had in the past, once you beat the game on good and bad there is little reason to go back to that world.

Your whole argument about different playstyles hinges upon the assumption that game development is a non-zero sum game. That's a faulty assumption.

Implementing driving in this game would take resources from something else. We can only speculate what the impact of it would be, but as soon as it approaches a reduced power set or less powers per power set you lost my support.

If they had unlimited budget and resources then they should add whatever people want. Thai massages, hostess clubs. bowling and parachuting whatever else people can come up with.

Would take resources if it was never an implementation from day 1 and this game has been in development for 3 years so that's a lot of time to get all that content in. They are hiding a lot so I dunno but if they don't have driveable vehicles I hope they address it since they did feel the need to address why Cole couldn't drive in past games.

I hope you feel this way about Prototype (aside from helicopters afaik), Batman, and Spiderman games because there most certainly wasnt any driving.

Those games including infamous are open play but not necessarily open world games. The focus on those games are the combat whereas saints row, gta and other rockstar games focus on the exploration and in that comes cars and silly mini games.

Delsin doesn't have a drivers license!
This is a good excuse.

Driving would be a huge waste of resource for a super hero game. You don't have people complaining about Spiderman not driving. He travels faster by swinging and same for Delsin. He'll travel faster by going from roof to roof. Cole definitely did.

Don't care about Spidey or Proto but I definitely wanted to drive the Batmobile which Rocksteady has finally delivered on with Arkham Knight. You also got naysayers in the other thread saying it's pointless bcause of the way Batman glides around in AC.

I want infamous to move away from the "look but don't touch" feel of the past games. The more you can interact with in the world the more alive it will feel.

Delsin doesn't have a drivers license!

So everytime you drive a car it counts towards your evil meter :D

Yes, it does. It spreads resources thin that could have been better utilized elsewhere, polishing elements essential to the design of the game.

Just stop.

Just because you can drive a car? It's not like they have to add unique animation and handling to every vehicle. Spreads resources thin is a meaningless argument, it has no basis it's just guess work. The only reason it wont have driving is not because it would be the last straw that broke the camels back like everyone is guessing it's simply because they didn't want it in.

They didn't want it in because it's not part of the design and would have, yes, been a waste of resources.

Huh they have commercials for this already.

Where? Seen not a single one, seeing already tons of ads for South Park, Titanfall, etc, but no Infamous. Only ads seen have been the generic PS4 ads that has some footage of Infamous

That didn't work for majority of the big first part games that came out after the PS3 launch when the system was in drought mode.

because it doesn't make sense.

why would it make sense? "give us the option" that's analogous to someone asking why he can't buy coffee in this game. sure it wouldn't hurt to add it, but what's the point.

Right. The attitude of "just add it!" is so ignorant. The thread about how much work simply adding a custom button mapping option should have been illuminating enough. Adding an entire gameplay feature is incredibly demanding on a team. Let alone for a feature they wouldn't anticipate many people even using.
