Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

What if Snake was revealed this month along with the launch of Ground Zeros? Knowing the friendship between Sakurai and Kojima, could be possible.

But like Sonic's reveal, he might be shown in a direct perhaps.

This is all assuming he's still in.

Edit: I was gonna say he could be revealed on the 9th, The US' anniversary of Brawl's launch, but it's on a Sunday.

Oh ok, good to know. Then what about Peach?

Man that seems like a long time ago when Peach was revealed
Peach was Super Mario Bros.'s anniversary as well I think.

Marth's reveal was the only truly random one, while Diddy's is the only reveal that tied into a western release date rather than a Japanese one.

That's not true. Luigi was tied to the North American release of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

Hadn't that game already come out everywhere by then? I thought his reveal was more just Nintendo Direct related like Sonic's, which I'm pretty sure was before Lost World came out.

Just as in, one or the other between Ike and Marth, I doubt it will happen, since both are more distinct than the Star Fox characters, but Roy was out when Ike was in, so you never know.

Are you talking about the next-next Smash or something? Marth is already in for 3DS/Wii U, and I highly doubt he'd ever be taken out as he is THE established FE guy now.

I think it may have been a day or two off of the North American release date for the game, but that's probably because it was in a Direct, not a normal update. Sonic's reveal was still linked to Lost World, even though it came from a Direct that aired before the game released.

He was revealed on august 7th, came out in the 11th in NA IIRC.

Character-revealed franchises that still missing a stage

WiiU:

Super Mario bros (2D)
Donkey Kong
Pokemon
Kirby
StarFox
Fire Emblem

3DS:

Donkey Kong
Pokemon
Kirby
StarFox
Megaman

Can't wait for a new Pokemon Stage.

Well then their reveals still weren't on the actual days their games came out in the west, unlike Diddy's. I'm not trying to be super pedantic about this, but in regards to trying to work out what dates they'll reveal characters, I think lumping the ones revealed in directs with Diddy's reveal date confuse things a bit.

Like, I doubt there'll be a Direct next week when Yoshi's New Island comes out. I'm willing to call myself a dumbass if there is though :Y

I'm betting we'll have a Direct in April with a new character reveal, and then E3 will probably reveal the last Newcomer Starter (and Pac-Man!) in the E3 Direct.

I really hope Star Fox won't get another boring side view Great Fox stage. I really like Lylat Cruise and even Venom in Melee.

I just hope we get assault's version of the great fox, which is by far the best version, they can even literally use the multiplier level in assault where you fly around it as a stage. I wouldnt complain.

That was the ship one, right? That was probably one of my favorite N64 levels. :D Fights on the back of the ship were so dangerous.

Yup. I liked how it was scaled to Fox's size, so it looked like you could walk in the back.
We used to try and shove our way in there, lol

Are you all ready to see Zelda's Lightning Kick, and Diddy humping Luigi's face?

Since you won't get that, here's Tails goggles with smash balls, so now you CAN"T unsee it :P

Wouldn't mind seeing a Nintendoland themed stage that transitions into some of the mini-games, like the Luigi's Mansion one or Chase Mii. Perhaps have like themed hazards pertaining to the ones that get selected, kinda like how Wario's Wario Ware stage was in Brawl

I wonder if there will ever be a Star Fox stage that isn't on a flying ship.
Does star fox have any significant locations that aren't on ships? I haven't played many of them, but I thought that most of the time you're always on a ship? I guess they could do an adventures stage, I can't think of any memorable areas from that game.

It's burned into my eyes and mind

I wonder if there will ever be a Star Fox stage that isn't on a flying ship.

To that, I ask... Why?

I guess the problem is that the ship becomes smaller each game.

Sakurai could give a damn about the source material. The Arwings flying around the stage? None of them could hope to dock in that baby ship.

Then a Landmaster stage? =]
scratch that, terrible idea if Fox is still going to have a Landmaster Final Smash

EDIT: Beaten to the Falcown Paunch. Still a terrible idea

DOUBLE EDIT: (Looking below) I apparently made a joke about the wrong punch...

Pic of the day. Little Mac's side smash attack is his straight right punch...but it can transform into an uppercut if you tilt diagonally upward, or a body hook if you tilt diagonally downward. The body hook is the most devastating of these moves and it doesn't blast the opponents away.

Bonus:The trick in activating these punches is to avoid tilting the controls diagonally from the get go--instead, tilt up or down right after the smash attack starts kicking in. You can also tilt up or down while you're powering up.

I want a Zoness stage where you're fighting on top of one of the floating tankers. It'd make for some really unique scenery with the search lights in the background, the poisoned atmosphere/clouds, random sea creatures leaping from the sea in the background and maybe some Arwings wizzing by from the foreground to the background at low altitudes.

Main reason I want it though? Dat. Music. I feel like the 3D version has the best version of the first few seconds, but it suffers from the MIDI samples used for the horns. The N64 version however has this great sense of weight to itself, but the audio quality is really low.
This song (and stage) is one of my top 5 gaming memories from childhood so a lot has stuck with me.
