Rule #1: Set realistic expectations
Rule #2: Manage those expectations

If this makes the industry think twice about pulling this shit in the future then I'm all for it, I hope watch dogs crashes and burns.
It's a shame but ubi have some experience in moving new ip in the right direction
WTF have you done GAF?

This thread just makes me sad that the industry doesn't revolve around PCs. Can't imagine where we'd be if everything was targeted at high end PC hardware.

I think with it being cross gen that's the reason the visuals have had such a downgrade, they realized that they want sales on 360/ps3 as well so catered for the lowest end hardware.

Some of the reactions are ridiculous, but you would think Ubisoft was more wary about what they should show.
Apparently last gen games looked like this.
I did, but is there any confirmation of this?Heh, did you consider the new game might always have perfect weather?

Wait why did he even try to punch out that window.
A much smaller industry.
Because everybody has a high end gaming PC at home and regularly updates the hardware for around 1k every 9 months. And there is piracy... There are reasons why consoles are the main focus.
Dead?
Unless you can find a way to make AAA games profitable to only people with high end PCs.
Those comparing WD to Infamous SS keep in mind that SS has a lot less stuff running in the background, there's basically no need to have any vehicle physics or any driver AI, also there's a complete lack of shadows during nighttime, like not a single light source casts shadows, but in WD they do. There are tradeoffs in both titles and Inf is developed exclusively for a single platform instead of 5, thought admittedly SP is like 100-150 people vs 1000-1500 people working on WD.

Where in the hell did you get those numbers?
Still looks worse than last year, and nothing is solved or even gained by cherry picking the bad and good parts. It's missing the entire point. Which is odd since the first part of your post seems to follow the thread.
No reasonable person in this thread is saying this.
So showing a tech demo of a game that was clearly not possible to achieve with the soul intent of creating a massive amount of hype doesn't constitute misleading the consumer?
Besides, this is Ubisoft, I think people are starting to get really pissed at them when it comes to their reveals constantly looking multitudes better than the actual release.
I understand why the industry revolves around console gaming. I just wish it didn't have to be that way.
Oh for sure, just look at Infamous SS. Everyone is most likely looking at Ubisoft, laughing at them, not the capabilities of current gen hardware.

Game is about a hacker, that cannot apparently hack car doors and has to smash them with his elbow, however when smashing, the window does not break and produces smoke and he has a magic hand that can reach through the solid window to open the door....
Maybe he is a hacker after all? A life/reality hacker...
Go into Steam and look at the Stats section. Look at how much of the user base has generic Intel graphics cards, and how much have decent AMD or Nvidia cards. Hint: almost everybody has SHIT pcs.

How can we possibly know The Division's reveal has any relation to the presentation of the game that will release? The difference here is that Infamous SS is being developed exclusively for the PS4 while Watch Dogs is being developed for last gen and current gen platforms. Look at what Ubisoft's studios are doing with The Division. They've clearly shown that they're more than capable when developing exclusively for the new generation of consoles.
Well yeah, similiar situation with DICE, i bet if DICE had a word to say about the Battlefield 4 release they would have never released the game at this status. but now everyone blaims the developer and NOT EA which wanted to get the game out just to compete with CoD: Ghosts. The publisher is the real problem here and not the developer.

Listen ubisoft, you're game is a joke. It's like a 360 game. San andreas has a better city. You need to learn how to make good graphixx

Its not just that its misleading, its the lengths Ubi goes to make it looks real that makes it worse.
just in case people have doubts of the authenticity they throw shots like that onto the screen and get people saying "but he had a controller so its obviously real"
They did the same thing with The Division.
this is why they get shit when the downgrade eventually rears its head.
You've never owned a PC.Not everyone wants to spend money on parts every four months or so.
