Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

I haven't played Gen 2 in ages. Is it feasable to actually have the E4 beaten by tomorrow morning? That would be crazy to do so in less than a full week.

As a note, Kingdra only takes 1/4 damage from surf and most of clair's pokemon know thunder wave, not to mention dragonbreath has a 30% chance of paralysis. We might actually mix it up a tad for once.

They only have 7 badges out of 16, so no. (I don't remember if the E4 comes before the second area though, so no idea really)

Urgh, I've been barely paying attention to the stream. Something about gen 2 just rankles me.

I do like that Eevee evolved into a decent Pokemon.
In Gen 3 I'm pretty sure you can target friendly pokemon in double battles, that will be interesting.

The Emerald version of the Tate & Liza fight can be pretty hellish. Throwing friendly fire into the mix would be very interesting.
Hahaha holy shit this is gonna be entertaining if we ever reach Emerald.

You're both wrong.

QQ more am cry.

I think that the next game should be anarchy only, that way the fun never stops.
There is no way in hell we're beating Juan's gym with Anarchy. Everything else works fine with Anarchy, but Juan's gym is basically Morty's gym all over again.

Speaking of which, Double Team Kingdra. Wow, the trainers in Emerald are gonna step up their game.

You only need 8 badges to get to the Elite 4 IIRC.

I've been playing a bit of HG to go along with this playthrough and jesus is that game insultingly easy. And I'm usually not the one to complain about lack of challenge in games.

Would it really hurt to add multiple difficulty levels? Hard difficulty would correspond to a 10% increase in enemy Pokemon levels or something similar. I'm sure Nintendo has their reasons though. Something along the lines of "Pokemon games only work on handhelds derp derp no difficulty levels everyone needs to play the same game da teetley dumb"

Heartgold wasn't that easy if memory serves correctly. XY is infinitely easier, even without the exp all.

Haven't followed in a couple of days, looks like I didn't miss much though judging from the word document. We Espeon now? Awesome. Best Eeveelution to this day IMO.

I look up from Kid Icarus to see that we're outside. Considering that our team was just a paralyzed gator, did we lose to the pre-clair trainer? Or did we somehow accidentally exit then jump over the ledge?

surely people lost interest in this.

can't speak for others but I lost interest when democracy/anarchy was introduced. Sure things like the team rocked hideout would have continued to have been as it was(basically hell) but that's why I was originally watching it.

I still pop in for ~30 seconds here and there just to see where the stream is but i'm not actively watching it as I was prior to the introduction of democracy/anarchy.

I still read the Reddit recap sometime in the evening to see what's going on but I haven't watched much of the stream itself. I agree that waiting awhile in between streams probably would have been better.

link to reddit recap plz? (I just don't understand the structure of that place, sorry)

Already in Clair's Gym and using democracy? I hope we at least derp'd around for a few hours in anarchy first. And had fun on those ledges in front of the gym. And healed. Cause if we didn't heal we're fucked if we black out.

That's not how you spell Glaceon.

Good taste confirmed.

Clair battle time guys.

Stopped Hoothoot from evolving. :( Ah well, we're fighting Clair now! Something tells me we got this. :P

ALMOST switched from Smoochum, that thing would grow so many levels if we managed.

Damn that Hyper Potion.

Well we lost. I guess it's a nice change of pace as opposed to the usual Feraligatr steamrolling everything.

Damn! If it weren't for the hyper potion/paralysis we could have done it. It would've been great if we were able to keep going with rage the whole time. Ah well. Brian took out 2 of them, Lazrgatr almost got the last one. Next time.

That was a pretty exciting battle. Those Dragonairs armed with Ice Beam and Thunderbolt might be a hurdle next time. AJ lucked out with Fly this time, but Brian would have been in serious trouble if he took too many direct hits.

The Shuckle using Encore for a second Dragon Rage was pretty hilarious in that earlier fight. It was the worst possible move for a Shuckle to ever make.

During the stopped evolution, there was enough input lag and general input slowness for people to get a good look at who pressed B.

Man, I feel bad for the guy, I saw his name all over the chat reactions. XD

I'd forgotten how intense of a move Hyper Beam was in this game. They really went all-out with everything they could do.

The fanart for this TPP is just made to extract as many feels as humanely possible. Such... human qualities these Pokemon have.

I'm really loving how the lore has started to develop the last few days.
A was very much so pre-mature in calling this uninteresting. But I also called that the lore would settle into its own given some time and TLC. I'm not watching every day, I can't. But by checking up on the fanart about twice a day you can follow the narrative and everytime it turns you still get the impact. And I love love love how the Ferilihaters became an essential part of the lore. And False Profit Flareon keeps returning to tell Epson that he has his own purpose. My favorite thing so far is probably, Brians fight to be his own person. Now, to be fair, I'm not following the chat so I don't know how many people are still complaining or if they just took the first few days concepts and ran with them, but god it's still awesome.
