Lets talk about Daylight Savings time.

Original idea was good when countries and society were not so interdependent and connected, in this day and age it's stupid.

we should repeal this horrendous event.

It's stupid and annoying and not needed since the days get shorter in the winter and longer in the summer ON THEIR OWN without us pushing it more. So now it's like.

November - "Get inside kids, it's 4PM and pitch black out there!"

July - "WHY IS THE SUN STILL OUT AT 8PM? HAVE WE NOT HAD ENOUGH HEAT?!!"

Seriously, I've had years where the sun wouldn't sully set until almost 9pm. That's insane.

Summer time can go screw whatever it feels like.

It destroys my sleeping pattern and I never recover until standard time is put back into place.

Ban this filth EU!

I hate daylight savings! My son is cranky because he had to wake up early, I have to get him used to this all over again. Damn it farmers

Just found out that we didn't get DST here in Sweden until 1980... you'd think that people were smarter by then

The whole thing is just incredibly stupid. If people want to enjoy the sun after work, just change the work hours, don't mess up the way we measure time

It's so awesome to take a quick nap during a lazy sunday evening, wake up, and not feel like it was wasted.

Time to prep myself for Cosmos!

What's with people mentioning farmers? Do you think he or she has to punch in at the barn before 0600?

You're kidding right? Getting up to feed the livestock at 4am is not unheard of at all. Not to mention dairy farmers who have to milk the herd two or three times a day.

Yes farmers go up crazy early because that's when the sun rises and when the livestock wakes up etc, not because he has to clock in at work at some arbitrary hour that magically changes by moving the clock forward. Daylight saving is just a major nuisance for farmers, and they're its biggest opponents so stop blaming them for it

Only reason I'd hate standard time to be year-round is because that would mean the sunrise would be at 4:30am in the Summer here. I'd rather the sun not be up an hour before I have to be.

Can we all just agree that changing the clock during winter and spawn eternal darkness sucks, and that we should never do it again?

First, the government steals our money through taxes. Then, they steal our time through Daylight Savings. The tyranny never ends.

I use this device call NatureBright, and its pretty much the sun but w/o blinding yourself if you stare directly at it.

I've been using this for over a month and it been great. I have to wake up really early in the morning and this really helps with the waking up my brain.

Today is probably the happiest I've been all year long. It's been a pretty shitty year for me but the sun still being out at 7:30 had me smiling all day long.

Okay, step one, change it to "Daylight Savings Time." Step two, abolish Daylight Savings Time.

I am a benevolent ruler.

I got a better idea. Put it in reverse. an extra hour of daylight in winter and one less in summer. That would actually help with heating/colling bills.

But I actually want to be outside in the spring/summer. The more daylight after work the better.

I like it where it's at now. Wish we never have to turn the clocks back.

Can someone explain why you "lose" an hour of sleep?

Unless you have to work on Sunday or have somewhere to be, can't you just sleep an "extra" hour? That is, if you normally wake up at 9, wake up at 10 for one day? It doesn't ever affect me.

I lose it on the front end. Saturday night/Sunday morning is basically no different. Go to bed when I go to bed, get up when I get up. Sunday night/Monday morning poses a problem, though. I can't will myself to bed at 10:30 as it still feels like 9:30, so I end up going to bed at 11:30 and lose an hour of sleep.

Split the difference, change the clocks one last time by half an hour and never do it again.

And get rid of the penny while we're at it.

Nothing is worse than sunset at 4:30. I know there are some brooding vampires here that love the dark and would love nothing more than sunset at noon. I'd rather it not already be dark when I get off from work, though

.

I don't care, most of my devices change the hour automatically for me, so yeah.
I like longer days during Spring / Summer, though.

Animals know fuckall about DST. One of our cats come in at ~6:30PM for dinner, now it's suddenly 7:30. Our newborn doesn't know the time, now all schedules we've worked on her is fucked up and we're exhausted. The world at large doesn't do DST, so if you work w/ international customers suddenly all your schedules have been fucked. I'm also not fond of light at 9PM, nor am I happy with 7AM suddenly being pitch black again.
