Infamous Second Son has gone gold

I worry for the infamous scores. If titan fall is as hyped as it is and managing 8-9 than infamous will hit 6-7s. I hope I am wrong because low scores would suck for sony. They do not need another killzone and knack.
What does hype have to do with score? If the game plays like 8-9 it gets 8-9.

You mean like how Killzone has sold 2.1 million and Knack which has sold over a million? Yeah, let's get all tied up with review scores since they seem to matter so much :-P

Think someone could beanie my av? Wondering how ridiculous it would look.

True Beanie.

Both inFAMOUS 1 & 2 did fine (85,83), something unexpected have to happen for it to score much lower than those.

Market changes?

In a world without GTAV, every other open-world game would had probably scored 0.5 or 1 point higher than a world with GTAV. It's hard to avoid comparison with the defacto titles in the genre.

Games like inFamous have less 'content/filler' compared to other open-world games due to the nature of being more of a super-hero sandbox. It's entirely possible points will be docked from inFamous simply because it doesn't allow you to do open-world stuff like driving and swimming, and instead restricts you to pure super-power gameplay, even if that is the whole point.

Are you guys going digital or physical with second son?

I've been contemplating this for the past week and I still don't know. I love the convenience of the digital model and have been used to Steam for the past couple years, but a small part of me wants to stay physical for the PS4.

digital. the us psn version is 43€ and includes the cole legacy dlc, the euro retail is around 65€ and doesnt include the dlc.

I've been doing the exact same thing. I love this feature and SS seems to be a perfect game for it.

Totally. Remote Play has definitely won me over. I'll just pop in my headphones and play it that way. Mostly when I'm just fucking around, finding blast shards. The story stuff I'd like to play on my big screen and get the full effect, but just free-roaming and collecting stuff/doing side missions? Yeah, remote play will be real nice.

I generally don't rush through inFAMOUS games, but because of the secretive nature Sucker Punch has displayed for this one, I'm inclined to try and beat the story mode as quickly as I can to avoid power spoilers, and then complete the side missions and collectables. Usually I take my time, and collect everything I can as I play, which is why my game times tend to be really long on even linear titles. I just want to discover all SS offers myself, without somebody on the internet ruining it for me.

Reviews are worthless to me, personally. I don't understand the obsession with them, honestly, good or bad. I like to play the games I like to play, and no reviews influence that. My co-workers are crazy obsessed with review scores, and pass on games if they get 7 or lower. I loved Killzone: Shadowfall, and thought it was awesome. Not as good as KZ2, but still an enjoyable game beyond just the visuals. Never played Knack, so I can't speak for that. As for inFAMOUS? It's the third entry in a popular series. It will no doubt get dinged for being "more of the same," but as a hardcore inFAMOUS fan, that's exactly what I want from the series. More inFAMOUS, only more polished, with some fun powers. They could have went with Cole again in Second Son, and I would be just as excited to play it. A new character, new city, and new powers already, for me, puts this in the same league of the first 2 inFAMOUS titles (and the Festival of Blood stand alone title, which was also awesome), and the two inFAMOUS games rank up there as two of my favorite games of last generation. If SS is as fun as those two, then it's an A+ in my book. Granted, I don't give scores in my reviews(check out my inFAMOUS 2 review if you want to know how I rate games: http://selectstartgames.wordpress.com/2011/06/25/infamous-2-review/). I buy games based on personal interest, not based on how much other people that aren't me enjoy them. We all have different tastes and quirks. I know some people on GAF who obsess over framerate or resolution, and those issues don't rate for me (unless they are so bad it renders a game unplayable, like Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault on Vita).

I'd be happy with a Metacritic score of 80-85.

If it gets 86-90 I'll be very surprised (and very pleased!)

If it gets over a 90...I'll strip naked and run around the block in joy.

I don't really see the point in worrying about the MC score on a game like this. I guess since I loved inFamous 1+2 it wont matter much to me. But it'll probably sell well enough anyway since I don't see much competition on PS4 this month besides Metal Gear. I also can't see it being too different score-wise unless something crazy happens that makes it terrible/awesome for most reviewers.

I wanted to join the beanie craze using my actual photo but I'm too embarrassed to post a photo of myself here. What a dilemma! LOL

Anyway, I'd be happy if the game hits a Metacritic score of 83% or above.

Anyone else considering getting in touch with their inner douche and going bad karma for their first playthrough?

Can't do it man. delsin is screaming for a cool "troubled kid turned hero" redemption story. and It's refreshing to see a superhero enjoy his powers.

very happy SP will be doing 2 endings again. first infamous was so dissapointing how it was essentially the same story no matter what you did. infamous 2 fixed that bigtime. loved how different the endings were.

Well I am a fan of wholesale property damage, preferably across wide swathes of area.

*scratches chin*

Nahh, knowing my goody two shoes nature I'll start off all nice and selfless and stuff, save the world and then turn into evil asshole on the second playthrough like usual.

I mean, once you taste the sweet, raw, easier power of unmitigated assholeness, its hard to go back.

I can never do this. Knowing the game is kind of "meant" to be played on the good side kills the whole mechanic for me. Straight up vaporizing guys does look a lot more fun though.
