Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Kid Icarus had one new decently successful game in the last 20 years.

And yet people are seriously wanting three characters from it instead of something else like a Ray-MK from Custom Robo.

It baffles me.
Cause people played Kid Icarus (Uprising) and has gotten critical acclaim.

I don't see it being all that worth it considering it'd just introduce more human(oid) characters, powers aside, but I could absolutely see Hades and Palutena both making it in - Hades probably staying a hidden character along the lines of Mewtwo and Ridley. Source: the Kirby franchise got two newcomers in Brawl, and guess who worked on that franchise!
I think Palutena will be playable, but that's where the Kid Icarus representation should end.

Kirby is one of Nintendo's best-selling series, and Meta Knight and Dedede's inclusions could have been justified as far back as Melee (or even further back for Dedede). Just because Sakurai worked on the latest Kid Icarus game doesn't mean it's going to get (or deserves to get) a bunch of characters. It's still the second lowest selling series represented in Smash Bros. after Mother.

Because the cast of Uprising are good characters.

Speaking of which we need this guy too:
So's the cast of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and the Mario and Luigi series. Haven't seen much demand for Fawful and co.

Seems like people just want a bunch of characters from the "newest" hot Nintendo property.

But if Palutena is playable then Pit's Up B should vanish since apparently she's the one controlling Pit's flight via Kinect

To be fair, half of Fawful's appeal is his dialogue and that might not translate as well to battle shouts.

I'd play 'em, though.

Has Custom Robo even been decently successful once?

I'm Team Palutena all the way. Best Nintendo character since the pikmin.

I'd rather have Cranky Kong than K. Rool. At least Cranky was in the last two DKC games.

Five games say it was successful enough for a few sequels.

To be honest, I really want to see Fawful now after using that example. He'd be like Deadpool in Marvel vs Capcom 3 in how they have him spout dialogue in battle.

Wonderful 101 and Tearaway are recommended everywhere, yet it doesn't do anything either

Agreed, if GAF was an indicator of the market, CoD and BF4 would've sold like shit while W101 and Tearaway would've been multi-million sellers alongside 6 million seller MGR

wat

this post is so full of holes I'd rather have another try to dissect it

"fan favorite status" is such a bullshit term applied to Lucario that it really makes you think that the "genwunner" insult is legit

I'm not trying to say Lucario is a bad character or anything. What I'm saying is that his mascot is confined more strictly to Pokemon fans, at least in the west, by virtue of not being part of the huge Pokemon explosion in the 90s.

Calling Lucario an engineered makes about as much sense as Pikachu, Meowth and Jigglypuff as engineered mascots since their popularity is because the anime series choose to give them a special role in the series.

Meowth and Jigglypuff, I'll concede those. I can't advocate Meowth as a playable character, at any rate. Pikachu was accidental fan-favorite before the anime hit. Clefairy was supposed to be the series mascot, and Nintendo just rolled with how fans really liked Pikachu.

I sincerely apologize if I was coming across as a genwunner. I actually think Gens II and IV had better sets of new Pokemon.

I haven't played Uprising or a Custom Robo game, but I'd rather see Palutena and another Kid Icarus character than a custom Robo. The whole series has no appeal to me whatsoever from what I've seen. I was always a little disappointed when I got those trophies in Melee.

The way you guys are using success isn't really the point at all, actually, it kinda is now that I think about it lol. The topic was 'people are seriously wanting Kid Icarus Uprising characters'.

Unlike Custom Robo, lots of people have played Kid Icarus Uprising. And if a lot of people played Kid Icarus Uprising, it would mean more people would want characters from Kid Icarus Uprising than from Custom Robo.

I found it hilarious.

A lot of people have played Pokemon and want a Pokemon fighting game.

I think we could replace all the characters with Pokemon given the right opportunity. Captain Falcon is already Blaziken.

If they gave Ganon a SSBM spot because he's similar in physique to Captain Falcon, but has purply shadowy powers...

why didn't they just use that moveset for Black Shadow?

I know it's been on Nintendo Video, but i never used that thing. Is that the best quality version that's been uploaded to the Interwebs?

This was May 2012, 3DS capture cards were more standard in 2013, I think only a handful of people were able to create their own by then and those episodes were taken down by Nintendo

So, simple idea for an extremely useful utility in Ganondorf's arsenal: let him have low-grade projectile deflection at the peak of his recovery. Gives him a little more use of magic and prevents him from getting roflstomped right off the bat by some ranged characters. Source:

No prob.

Although I don't really think a Pokemon fan is "less" notable than an average joe.

Sadly yeah, the complete one too.

Just give Dorf a projectile that can be reflected by attacks. Imagine a projectile that gets stronger every time it is reflected which could lead to impromptu tennis matches. Would be even crazier in FFA.

you forgot Dark Souls and The Last of Us selling 50 million copies apiece
Then the market is flooded with Dark Souls ripoffs and Namco-Bandai drive the series into the ground with a Souls game per year. From Software moves on to making Armored Core again.
