I know Major Nelson and co. read GAF, I just wonder what the team say to each other once they read the comments here such as the ones expecting them to come out with some new spin.

Do they read that and just sigh knowing it's true?

Do they laugh it off?

Do they sulk?

It's their marketing/PR department that does the spinning. Probably out of the Major's hands.

Plus that already happened in December. Only thing that would do is perhaps quiet down the "consoles are dead" side for another month which is always welcome.

Yeah, Major is limited in what he can say. It's the PR teams that control distribution and number releases.

Can't say things that put Xbox in a negative light.

They go back to work like adults? We do this for fun, they have an actual job to worry about.

The guy probably makes a 6 figure income. So he probably laughs at us arguing over these things that really have no relevance to us. Well unless you bought stocks in a company.

So I think there may be some interesting results this NPD.

So we had these releases iirc:

Bravely Default
Lego Movie
Lightning Returns
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Thief
Layton Azran Legacy? (technically it released on the 28th... would it even be counted in this? I doubt it sold that well imo).

Am I missing stuff? (I probably am)

I personally think Bravely Default will do well, based on the anecdotal evidence I've seen (was sold out in quite a few stores at launch, consistently doing well on Amazon top 100 selling games). Lego Movie is probably on the chart thanks to all the platforms. I'd guess the order is something like 360, 3DS, PS3/Wii U, XB1, PS4, and PSV imo.

I'd also guess BD > LR in sales (even w/ both SKUs). In general I'm hoping we see lots of new titles on the list (aka not just the holiday titles).

Of course they care about the business overall. The post was strictly about reading GAF. Which if it does ever affect them they should probably switch jobs!

The only people he should care about are the shareholders and the higher-ups that sign his checks. Even if the XBO does come in second in the NPD, I'm sure Larry won't lose (that much) sleep over it. As long as they meet their quarterly sales targets, the board of directors will be satisfied, and many employees can rest easy. Keep in mind most prominent shareholders (commonly middle-age Caucasian men) aren't as knowledgeable about games as the GAFmind is.

Seriously though, Danganronpa, Toukiden, and Lego Movie Video Game are the most notable retail releases for the month? I highly doubt it wouldn't chart in Vita's top 10 retail sales for February.
