So the lore goes, after AJ beat Red, he finally got the courage to propose to Joey.

And we lived happily ever after....

Are you against all two-toned hair, or just black & white?

Good question. I don't think I've encountered enough of it to form an opinion on the matter.

...Actually, I guess I technically have two-tone hair if I count my facial hair lol. So I guess just black & white for now?

Blue>Silver>Barry=Wally's surprise in Victory Road at end>Cheren>>>>Serena>Hugh>Wally when he sucks. All those not mentioned=not notable enough to count.

And put Grovyle from PMD2 if he counts at the top.

Not counting spinoffs, because otherwise Wes, Michael, Mark, Mint, and 4/6 of the rangers would be at the higher ranks

Serena=Leaf>May=Dawn>Hilda>Kris>>>>>Lyra>Rosa

Brendan Hair>Ethan>Red=Hilbert>Calem>Nate>>Brendan fake clan>>>>>>>Lucas

I think we can all agree Hilbert is a boss. Like, literally, he should have been the final boss of BW2. A design like this is worthy of living up to Red's legacy.

Male protags:
Red>Hilbert>Gold (old design)>Nate>Brendan>Lucas>Calem

Red=Hilbet? wat.

Lucas is the 4th generation protagonist, right?

Beret hater. ;__;

Lucas just doesn't look that intimidating and sort of lacks an attitude. He's a blank slate, he's just there.

I always chose male, but 4th gen was the time I saw the most males switch to play as Dawn because they didn't like Lucas

I wasted hours looking for him in BW2, and considering N was looking for him as well, I figured he would show up sooner or later. I guess it's just that the protagonist from BW2 sucked compared to him and they didn't want to have him be better than Hilbert or something, heh.

IV's of our Gen II Pokemon were calculated from save file.

The highest value for an IV in Gen 1 & 2 is 15.

Lazorgator (Feraligatr) - HP:12, Attack: 15, Defense: 7, Speed: 6, Special Attack/Def:14.
Solid Snake (Steelix) - HP: 5, Attack: 8, Defense: 9, Speed: 12, Special Attack/Def:15.
Katie (Dragonite) - HP: 4, Attack: 2, Defense: 3, Speed: 8, Special Attack/Def: 0.
Burrito (Espeon) - HP: 0, Attack :8, Defense: 10, Speed: 14, Special Attack/Def: 4.
Brian (Pidgeot) - HP: 8 , Attack: 15, Defense: 8, Speed: 10, Special Attack/Def: 0.

Notable PC Pokémon
Duke Smoochum - 0 IV's in ALL STATS.
Ace (Raticate) - HP: 7, Attack: 12, Defense: 11, Speed: 3, Special Attack/Def: 11.
Dr. Hoot (Hoothoot) - HP: 10 , Attack: 13, Defense: 4, Speed: 7, Special Attack/Def: 4
Shuckle - HP: 8, Attack: 15, Defense: 2, Speed: 6, Special Attack/Def: 6
Master Goldeen - HP: 11, Attack: 9, Defense: 8, Speed: 15, Special Attack/Def: 1
Ponyta - HP: 12, Attack: 9, Defense: 1, Speed: 6, Special Attack/Def: 2
Koffing - HP: 9, Attack: 13, Defense: 8, Speed: 12, Special Attack/Def: 3

Hilbert is a great design but fuck is up with that name? Who decided 'Hilbert' was a great name for a kid to have?

LOL at max Attack IV Shuckle. Shuckle used Strength indeed.

Burrito was pretty dainty. Good thing we didn't evolve him into Umbreon and try to have him tank for us.

Except for LazerGator, we were pulling a real underdog team.

Brian is pretty good as well.

We're now playing Super Mario Land...but with Ash?

Maybe that's why he's not in BW2, it'd be lame to have the final badass trainer be named Hilbert. :P

It's fun to look at parallels

KT vs Battery Jesus: (Psuedo)- Legendary. Rare mythical and amazing by the end. Both flying. By base power have the strongest atacks (a least if you look at the bp today) Flying types.

King Fonz vs Metal Gear: Oddballs in terms of types. Scary large powerhouses.

LAzrGAtr vs Lord Helix: center of lore. Both waters. God vs Godslayer

Ace vs AIR: Somewhat useless

ATV vs Burrito: Small tiny powerhouses with their shining moments against the E4 (Burrito rivals Lord Helix here too)

Brian vs Pidgeot: Secondary Powerhouse (Metal Gear took over at the very very end, but whatever). Both Pidgeots

Funny how it all works out

Apparently we carried out the plot of Julius Caesar (We totally did. Ides of March)

Don't know how to feel about AJxJoey

Wasn't AIR supposed to be female when traded over? That confused me. Maybe he switched it for lore's sake

Either way, Burrito might be the most femenine male pokemon we've had yet

I missed this, but this is actually quite an interesting story. Essentially, in GSC, a Pokemon's sex is set using the DV (Gen 2 equivalent of IVs). If the Attack DV is above the requisite value for that species, then the Pokemon is male, otherwise female (sexist, I know). So, that's why KT is female - her Attack DV was lower than 8, which is the point at which the Dratini/Dragonair/Dragonite line becomes male. Wild Pokemon have their IVs set randomly, so their chance to be a particular sex is dependent on the value their species requires to be male - i.e., Blissey requires the Attack DV to be higher than 15 (impossible), Tauros requires the Attack DV to be higher than -1 (all are male).

However, Trainer Pokemon don't have their DVs set randomly. To make the game faster and more efficient, in GSC they draw upon a preset 'pool' of DVs that depends upon their trainer type. All of their Pokemon then share those DVs. Red's is programmed to be FDDE - that is, an ATK DV of 15 (F), a DEF DV of 13 (D), a SPD DV of 13 (D), and a SP. (both Attack and Defence, which share the same stat) DV of 14 (E). The HP DV isn't actually random in the same sense the others are - it's set using the other four variables, the formula being HP DV = A + B + C + D, where A = 8 if the ATK DV is odd, otherwise 0, B = 4 if the DEF DV is odd, otherwise 0, C = 2 if the SPD DV is odd, otherwise 0, and D = 1 if the SP. DV is odd, otherwise 0. In other words, Red's HP DV is 14 (E).

However, all of a trainer class's Pokemon share the same DV pool, and thus have exactly the same DVs. Note that this means all of Red's Pokemon have an ATK DV of 15. This precludes them from being female unless they're a female only species. The only way to make Air Jordan female, as she rightfully was, would be to make Red's value F8D7 - which produces a DV value of 7, which is below the mark necessary to make Lapras female. However, doing this would also be sufficient to make all of Red's other Pokemon female - which would have been even more egregious.

As an interesting side note, in the original GSC, the Youngster class have the DV pool 8/7/7/7 - including Joey, making his Rattata about as average as it comes. However, by the time of HGSS, the games were capable of setting unique IVs for enemy Trainer Pokemon. This functionality wasn't actually used very often and mostly they still just drew upon predefined pools of IVs. However, a few specific and notable trainers have unique IVs for each Pokemon - mostly gym leaders and Elites. One exception to this 'notable trainers' rule is none other than Youngster Joey. If you check the data for his Rattata, it has a custom IV spread of 30 31 29 31 26 30 and an Adamant Nature - it truly is in the top percentage of all Rattata.

Don't know how to feel about AJxJoey
I think AJ x Joey is sweet. Despite what some have said in the chat, I think of their relationship more as a bromance than a homosexual relationship (not that there's anything wrong with that). Most of the AJ x Joey lore is non-romantic in nature. In my mind, Joey idolizes AJ and would do anything for him. AJ is protective of Joey, who is his one true (human) friend who stands by him and encourages him no matter what. They love each other as close friends.

Yeah, this fits in with the lore better. I'm ok with this

Other option came out of nowhere randomly
