To clarify my bitching on that one point: I don't have a problem with the actual MCU Nova designs, or even with the idea of the Novas being reduced to Walter Pecks for the purposes of this one film, but it seems like a rather shortsighted direction to take as far as the future of the cosmic MCU is concerned.

So I'm guessing the Nova Corps will like stormtroopers/clonetroopers then?

Also, more pics:

Awesome. Cannot wait for this.

One question though, is it confirmed that one of the main settings is going to be at Knowhere? If it is, that's pretty far from Earth. Like across-the-universe far.

Nothing directly has been said for the movie but there's a couple of bits of evidence suggesting it.

For example there's a Lego set being released from the movie called "Escape from Knowhere Mission" and a series of kids tie-in books for the film including one titled "The Battle of Knowhere".

Perhaps the standard Nova Corps will just be soldiers, and the actual, well, NOVA Nova, will be a uniquely superpowered one, later on.

that is exactly how it is.

From highest to lowest rank. Unlike the Green Lanterns you got to earn your access to the Nova Force.

Also, it looks like Ronan's costume actually might have a green tint that wasn't apparent on the toys, so yay for that.

That's what it looks like to me too. I really hope so, as the green just looks so much more unique than a Darth Vader black.

Hells yeah, he looks like the more badass image of Ronan.

Okay, so I've made it through Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest and just started War of Kings. Does it get better?

Annihilation and Conquest were really great - interconnected and cohesive in a way I didn't think super hero comics could be. Really interesting characters with Thanos, Nova, Drax, Kl'rt, the Heralds etc, all introduced across the galaxy in unique ways.

But War of Kings so far....ugh. I really don't care about the Xmen or Earth. Does it get back to the good stuff?

The whole War of Kings/Realm of Kings stuff is where I tapped out. That's the point where the cosmic stuff started to getting REALLY self-indulgent, with just far too many characters getting crammed into the stories.

Thanos Imperative is pretty good though, and probably the best cosmic event since the original Annihilation (though, imo, nothing ever tops that).

Hell yeah man, Realm of Kings and the Thanos Imperative are fucking awesome.

As everyone else has said: Thanos Imperative.

I would say read everything through that and then stop.

If you like Rocket a lot, and don't mind the focus shifting to other characters, Annihilators and Annihilators: Earthfall are okay. After that, though, everything is shit.

There's no green to his costume, it's all black.

I can't remember if it was posted but Gunn has been in L.A this week doing some additional filming with Pratt, Rooker, Reilly and Bautista. Dave actually posted on his FB and Twitter that he wrapped up his work as Drax this weekend and is done.

That is clearly green.

It's probably the lighting. Though he could have a green costume as well, ALL of the material we've seen of him, he's in black.

That picture is the best "material" we have seen of him so far. We thought his costume was black based on a lego figure.

He very well could have two costumes though.

And the action figure.

Black has a way of looking like any color projected on it and honestly, that looks like the case here. He could have two costumes, but is he also going to have two different colored hammers?

Yeah that whole image looks shifted green. Too bad.

Maybe he doesn't start the movie as the Accuser? I don't know enough about the Kree to know if they have rankings that determine how they dress like the Nova Corps do or whatever.

Is there really anything Cosmic related after Earthfall though?

Not really. Unless the new Nova series is cosmic in scope. I haven't read it so I don't know. He might be stuck on Earth like the Guardians. But they're both technically cosmically involved so... I dunno.

Are you referring to Abnetts run in 2008? I thought that was great.

Nope, I liked that one. It's the Bendis run that's just bad. I mean, the Guardians get stuck defending Earth, which is dumb since there's loads of other heroes that can and should be dealing with alien invasions that are out of their league. Tony Stark joins the team because... I don't know. I think it's so all the other team members can have someone to make fun of, because that seems to be the entire benefit he's provided in what I read.

Also, they got rid of the cool Star-Lord mask and replaced it with a clear visor because...? I don't mind costume changes normally, but they just replaced it with the most boring thing they could think of. It's not like there's an actor who needs more face-time here, it's a totally pointless change. Like how Peter Quill is suddenly blonde and ten years younger. He used to look like a rugged, kinda crazy space marine. Now he looks like Johnny Storm. Worse, he acts like Johnny Storm.

Sorry for the rant. But the new run just gets under my skin so much.

the summer taint nearly collapsed it all they should've let alex kill him since his powers seem to work on his siblings but theirs dont work for shit on him.

The press notes released describe some of Peter Quill/Star-Lord's backstory in the film and his relationship to a certain blue dude that confirms some speculation when the first set photo's were posted. I'll spoiler it to be on the safe side:
“He’s very much a kid at heart. He’s never known his father, he’s sucked away into space just as his mother dies and is raised by a blue-skinned humanoid. He has spent all his life being told to toughen up and has a false sense of bravado as a result. But deep down he is lonely, and while he’s a guy traveling in space getting to do whatever he wants, he misses his family, his community, and through the course of the story he learns to care again and that there’s more to life than just taking and doing exactly what you want.”

Michael Rooker on Yondu:
"“It’s a beautiful story, a great uplifting story and I found the relationship between Quill and Yondu intriguing. He went to pick him up from Earth and for some reason he decided not to take him where he was meant to go and raised him himself. He made a connection with him, and Yondu now enjoys the fact that Quill has the courage to do his own thing.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spoiler....

Blue skinned humanoid which found by Coulson in the TAHITI episode.

The blue skinned humanoid that Chris Pratt is referring to is Yondu, not the TAHITI dude

The blue TAHITI dude could be a different Centurian, though. And now they're confirmed to have visited Earth in the appropriate timeframe, which makes it more likely.

Maybe they made the mohawk as Yondu's choice of style, not the usual Centurions look.

Btw...Sif already said Centurians as among the blue aliens, so yeah...could be them.
But then again, she also said none of them visited earth. So...
