PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

One copy is for me and one copy is for me to pass down to my children who would definitely want to have their own sealed copies.

Or just to have a sealed copy of. When it's a game I really enjoy, I want to have a mint copy of it. That includes keeping it sealed. And of course, I need a second copy to play for myself. I know it's kinda crazy, but I try to keep it to a minimum.

Whaaa?? Two copies of LE of games I really like is hoarding? And I doubt any of them sell for $200, though I don't plan to sell them anyways.

I wanna do the same thing, but, i'm poor :c

So my friend is attempting to backup his vita memory card to his pc and yet the vita progress bar keeps getting stuck. It's essentially refusing to backup, anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

You sure it's not just taking a long time? Roughly how much is he backing up?

homescreen time?

Ah, I should have taken a picture of my unlock screen. It's a picture of a nice tree. But yeah, I'm too lazy to rearrange and design my bubbles and wallpapers. But I do like Lightning's costume, minus the white outline.

I feel like I am the exact opposite of you. I don't own a single physical version of a PS3, PS4, PSP, or Vita game.

Really? Vita and PSP games kinda makes sense, but some PS3 and PS4 games can get pretty big. I don't have that kind of digital storage and bandwidth. In any case, I prefer physical copies.

So what do you think guys?

Should I get Steamworld Dig or Luftrausers on Tuesday?

They're both the same price. I'm conflicted.

Not that I've played any yet, but Steamworld Dig seams more appealing to me, though I've always liked digging games where you collect minerals, upgrade your stuff, and dig further into new areas.

Which makes this even more confusing: currently I have 90 dollars on my wallet so the options are:

1. Dark Souls for 60, then wait for the bonus 10 to kick in to get FFX/FFX-2.
2. Danganronpa + FFX/FFX-2 = left me with 20 with the 10 bonus.
3. Miku + FFX/FFX-2 = left me with 30 with the 10 bonus.

Urgggggggggggggggh I cannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn't blooooooooody deciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide.

I vote number 2, followed by 3. I enjoy Danganronpa more than Miku, but they're both good.

I don't. :( But I do have an old 4GB memory card sitting around unused, might be a good reason to finally make myself a JP account. I purchased it from CD Japan, who made no mention of it being a download code, so I've emailed them about the situation.

I hope you can find a solution with them, but if not, just look on the bright side and chalk this up to experience. Maybe you'll find something awesome on the JP PSN that you wouldn't have otherwise.

I like Lightning's getup on the screen with the purple background. Would be awesome if she smiled though.

But her emotionless demeanor is half the appeal.

Kidneys are expensive these days. :D

Just sold my second one! We have 3 kidneys, and we only need 1, right?

3 and then use that for something else or save it to use on Dark Souls when you can make up the other 30.

If you're interested in Miku at all, go with 3.

My demo impression:

I like the music, and the graphic, and the overall anime-ish presentation, and the vibe, and the cutesy and all that....

But on normal the game just destroyed me, hahahaha, guess I am not just dexterous enough. Maybe I just need more practice but it doesn't bode well for my future trophy attempt for the full game, hahaha.

So uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............. Dark Souls 2 looks interesting.

I mean, I am never a person that gets all jiffy with graphics and such and I think it looks... good... great, even..., on the various YouTube videos (that not part of its marketing materials) that I've seen.

Steamworld Dig kind of falters at the end, like the game's kind of.... lose direction. It is a solid game, though, nonetheless.

Don't support the surprise downgrade and false info that FROM/Namco put out.

is there anything new added to luftrausers or is it a straight up port of the flash version?

Tons of stuff, I think. More planes, ability to customize, etc.

I sucked bad at the demo on normal, too. I mean, the notes are all over the screen AND you have to be able to switch button inputs at the same time.

But I enjoyed it enough to import a copy, and if it's any consolation, you just have to pass the songs on hard to get the platinum. You don't have to do anything crazy like getting perfect in all of them. So it should be doable with practice.

Though I still think you should get Danganronpa over Miku.

Should I finish that up or head straight to LR?

You want my opinion? Just skip XIII-2. Only thing worth playing in that game is the Lightning & Sazh DLC.

XIII as a standalone and it's ending was perfect as it was and it didn't need to warrant a sequel. XIII-2 is one of the very few FF games (both mainline and spinoffs) that I don't revisit after my 2nd play.

At least Caius and his theme was decent though....oh and plains of eternity.

Go ahead and jump for LR.

Me too. This is my first rhythm game ever. I started out on Easy as people suggested and went through every song on that mode with Excellent ratings. Then started on Normal, it was harder at first but I ended up being good enough at that point and knowing the songs well enough to get Excellent rank on all of those.

Just started Hard and it's kicking my ass again, but in a good way. You'll be surprised at what you're capable of if you start from the basics and work your way up.

If you're concerned about trophies they are all really easy to get and there aren't many of them.

You'll get used to it the more you play or even listen to the songs. I sometimes boot up the game just to watch the music videos with different characters dancing to each song.

I thought XIII-2 was great =\

No seriously. Fun combat, lots to do, great art, amazing soundtrack, pretty cool story... I don't think it should be skipped, especially if you're playing 1 and 3.

Can you elaborate as to why to the bolded above?

I think you should go with #3. Miku's not gonna go on sale anytime soon or at all.

Hmmm. With Danganronpa 2 coming out soon maybe it'll be wiser to wait, huh, since they probably gonna cut down the price for the Danganronpa....

Don't support the surprise downgrade and false info that FROM/Namco put out.

#2 Vita owners shouldn't support Bandai Namco America at all.

It's really a controversial issue, huh.

The thing is, well, the graphics look decent..... great even, in my eyes and I never actually followed the news for the game up until recently, so I was spared, I guess if you can call it that, from all the, well, deception.

The game looks like a decent combination of horror + JRPG which is just hrnggghhhh.

Well, I will agonize about this all day before the 18th comes, I am sure, hahaha.

Of course to each their own ;)

Square rarely disappoints in the OST department, but XIII-2 was just a experimental mess. Of course there are some beautiful pieces like Caius theme, Run, Plains of Eternity, but compared to it's predecessor, it's really forgettable. Oh and it had that horrid chocobo song

"SO GAS EM UP WITH DEM GREENS AND LET ME GO SO YOU THINK YOU CAN RIDE THIS DAMN CHOCOBO. GOT SOME CHOCOBUX YOU BETTER SHOVE EM UP A CHOCOBO"

Can you elaborate as to why to the bolded above?

Of course, but the short answer is that Danganronpa is a genre I enjoy more.

Danganronpa has a compelling story filled with suspense and twists, and it's fun unraveling the mysteries during trials. It's also kinda fun discussing the game with others while waiting for the second game. It is true though that a price drop would seem likely when the second game releases, but I personally felt the game was enjoyable enough to warrant the full price.

Whereas Project Diva f is simply a music game. The songs are nice, and of course the button inputs would be different for each song, but there not much else. Basically, the gameplay in the demo is what you can expect in the full game. Of course, this makes sense considering what type of game it is, but I still have DJ Max Technika Tune, and I think I prefer it's gameplay over PDf. Tapping notes and knowing where they'll be is much easier and enjoyable to me.

But as I mentioned earlier both are good games, and you can't go wrong with either. I picked up Danganronpa on release and have recently imported a copy of PDf, so I myself am getting both.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dark Souls 2 goes on sale before you finish PDf and FFX/X-2HD. PDf is also cheaper than the other games you mentioned...

If by "horrid" you mean "amazing" then I agree completely.

It's not JRPG at all. It's an action RPG and the RPG stuff is not entirely heavy.

But you don't even have to worry about it. Behold the demo:

Strangely enough this is why I'd suggest PDf over Danganronpa. The latter I could play through once but really have no reason to return to ever again. PDf is full of stuff that I could do over and over again, things to collect and unlock etc. More replayability and more reason to return to it again in the future.

Life is better with waifus. <3 FeMC is a close second to Rise.
FeMC easily curbstomped any female characters from P3 and P4.
You guys :')

Miku is apparently never ever going on sale. So may as well buy it now and have lots of money left over.

Why do you hate XIII-2? I love it because Serah ( VA : Laura Bailey ) is the main character. But everything about it from a gameplay perspective is way better than FF13 Vanilla. Well, so far at least. I'm taking my sweet time working through it because I'm enjoying the music and experience so far.

Did you ever call PSN folks about pre ordering InFamous before the $10 deal?

I was supposed to play it over my winter break, but I didn't.
Something about the lack of Lightning and Fang and the smaller party (only 2, right?) kind of puts a block on it... that and I'd have to play a game on PS3. :lol

Not even Laura Bailey can save Serah's character. I found Serah to be even more boring that Larry was.

Am I doing it right?

Hmm, yeah, you're right. If he's buying digital, I suppose buying the game with more replayability would be better. But that's assuming he has no preference for either, and Danganronpa has a pretty sizeable Story Mode anyways. My plat took about 50 hours for that game.

I guess it comes down to how much he enjoyed the demo. I could see myself repeating songs and going for the plat, which is why I got it myself.

Did you ever call PSN folks about pre ordering InFamous before the $10 deal?
Yes. Let me dig up the post I made in the original thread.
Just called. They couldn't do anything for me. I spoke to a supervisor too. I got the implication/impression that there was very much so nothing he could do for me to get me qualified for the deal. Which makes sense considering that would require something along the lines of cancelling the pre-order, then getting it refunded, then running it through the store again from my end as a consumer. That was kind of jumbled writing.

There is most likely is no automated process they can initiate to make previous inFamous Second Son pre-orders retroactively apply to the current deal. I did get him to push through my Dustforce Vita refund. Because, at the end of the original refund request conversation I was assured that it would pass judgement and that a month later I was still not notified that my refund request failed.

I did get to have a decent conversation with it and he said he'd file it as a complaint and look into it. Hopefully he's good at his job because I'm not doing digital pre-orders again if this is going to happen again. Then again, if you want, you can try calling and getting your inFamous pre-order cancelled. If you ask for a supervisor it's possible they can process the cancellation and refund immediately and you can re-order the game. I'm $5 short of getting the $10 back so I have little to gain from pursing further action. But if you do those steps, it could work.
Badda Boop.
I was supposed to play it over my winter break, but I didn't.
Something about the lack of Lightning and Fang and the smaller party (only 2, right?) kind of puts a block on it... that and I'd have to play a game on PS3. :lol
2 ( Serah + some Noel dude ) + 1 Monster and sometimes + 1 guest character.
Hell, I'm enjoying this more because nobody from the original cast has shown up for more than a cameo. Lightning is... ugh. And Fang is just... even more ugh.
Not even Laura Bailey can save Serah's character. I found Serah to be even more boring that Larry was.
Am I doing it right?
I don't as much pay attention to the words that she says as much as the sound of the words that she says. So you could be totally right on that factor. Serah > Larry. Though.

XIII, despite its flaws, was fine as it is. the ending brought closure and it didn't need to warrant two sequels. XIII-2 took XIII mess, put it in a blender, blended it, and tossed it out to make a bigger mess.
and as much as I loved LR and I can just spend hours riding
odin
around the wildlands or playing fucking dressup, that game wasn't needed at all.

It pains me to think what Square could of have brewed up instead of sequels to XIII.

I may be a massive lightningdrone, but I'm foremost a FF fan and I would of have rather see something fresh than a XIII branded sequel.

I don't know, a real FFXIII-2 with Lightning, Fang, Vanille, and Serah as part of a J-pop group might have been entertaining.

Playing dressup is the best part !!
But there's already a JPOP FF game.
And it's coming to the Vita stateside next Tuesday :p

Personally, I'd go for 2 since those genres are the ones I like to play the most. I get bored of rhythm games after 4-5 playthroughs.

In terms of value, I'd go for 3 since Hatsune Miku games has that replayability advantage over Danganronpa. Danganronpa is a 20-25 hour VN style game and if you think you can get more with Miku, go for it. Just be careful of spoilers when you plan to delay it since the game really shines if you go blind. Also, delaying it and playing the game very close to each other won't make you feel empty and looking for more answers. Waiting for the sequel is just despair-inducing.. :(

I would also like to add I got my platinum in 51 hours. So the "replayability of PDf" argument is not applicable in my case.

This thread has taken a weird turn since with the Miku and FF game releases. ;)
Are you insinuating that in addition to the monthly "Waifu Warz" we should also have monthly "J-Pop Costume Warz" too ?! I wish I could agree with you more right now.

FeMC easily curbstomped any female characters from P3 and P4.

You know in your heart that's not true. </3 FeMC is well-designed but that "silent protagonist" personality of hers does not favor her in any way. If she was a female S-Link with good development or a replacement for Ken as a party member, I might have to side with you.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK !! She is one of the best silent protagonist ever. Simply because she's exactly the opposite. The dialog choices you can make for her point to her being an excitable outgoing gal. And honestly, anyone would be better than Ken. Maybe even Teddy.
You are dead to me.
Awwww. You're a cool dude too.
Fang would be a horrible dancer. Also, the GODDESS herself can dance already and don't need no shitty jpop spinoff

whoops forgot that was a spoiler
that's the costume I used for both of my playthroughs[/SPOIER]
All of her costumes are better than this monstrosity.

You sure it's not just taking a long time? Roughly how much is he backing up?
Yeah only about 5gb. But it sounds like he was trying to back it up for hours and it just got stuck. That and his pc seems to lock up occasionally when he tries.

I backed up 28gb and it didn't take more than 2 hours or so.

So my 'physical' copy of Phantom Breaker on Vita just arrived. It's just a fucking download code in the box. There was no warning of this in advance. So pissed.

Sad to hear that. :( My copy is still on hold until the rest of March preorders are in.

I wonder if the upcoming PS4 version will be like that as well.

Has he backed stuff up before, or is he backing things up for the first time? Has he tried with another computer?

Sorry if I'm not being much help. I've never run into this problem.
