We have never, ever, gotten a Newcomer outside of a Direct. It's a possibility in the sense that the game releasing next month is a technical possibility.

It is extremely easy for nintendo to announce a smash specific direct to announce a newcomer.

I find that to be unlikely, since smash announcements in a direct, makes people watch it and see all the other games in the direct. A smash specific direct only helps advertise smash.

They will still announce them in regular directs, the problem is they only do those every 2 months. thats alot of months of not announcing anything for smash for a game that is coming out this year
