Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Aww you spoil us Mr.Sakurai.

I know this sequence goes above and beyond a traditional Pic of the Day, so consider this a little something extra on the side from me.

Sakurai is the best dealer.

Funny, I'm getting Rainbow Cruise vibes.

The difference between the two comes down to pacing, mostly. Pokefloats was pretty relaxed in pace, while Rainbow Cruise just tries to kill you. You can just ride the Whooper through half of PokeFloats, while Rainbow Cruise likes killing you for just standing still.

How would 3ds tourneys work? In fact, I wonder if one version would be more competitive than the other due to the differences between the games.

I don't think there'll be any mechanical differences between the games. In any case, I think the Wii U one would be the main game, while the 3DS one will probably have its own side-tournies or something.

I'm guessing the Wii U will be the version more used in tourneys, since the 3DS version would be harder to watch for. That said, I could see 3DS being usable. It'd need a third 3DS with a capture card built into it though, and that third player would have to self destruct at the start of every match. So that'd be a bit of pain in the ass.

Well, the 3DS has some kind of character building feature that the Wii U version won't have, but you can import these characters to the Wii U version from the 3DS version.

holy shit four pics!

that if you post pictures during the time where everyone expects potd, you would be banned

oh, wow, I must have missed that post.
please don't ban me ;__;
The 12hr timezone difference makes me miss a lot of posts.

I fucking love that the day tony indirectly abused his power, Sakurai gave us the absolutely most detailed update so far; Dojo-length, in fact! Great times, people!

I post the Pyrosphere pic mostly because of this post lol, I thought most SmashGafs remember the pic.

And 4 pics a day is insane, feels spoiled, and love it.

I've realized something...

Pic of the day. Happy Holidays! Here's a new 3DS stage--Rainbow Road! It can't be explained in one picture, but it's going to be a cruise-type stage.

And then today's update...

zlCfzRpCLAEzC-LqC4

Pic of the day. Here's some info on the Nintendo 3DS stage called Super Mario 3D Land! First, it advances by side-scrolling…

Sakurai clearly identifies this stage as inspired by SM3L...But hey, didn't we already have a 3DS Mario stage hinted at, taking inspiration from -another- series?

Pic of the day.
Stages like this one are often seen in the New Super Mario Bros series.
It means trouble.

If we are to take that the NSMB and the SM3L stages are different, this means we have had three 3DS Mario stages revealed so far...and all of them appear to be of the moving variety!

That last picture is also the Super Mario 3D Land stage, not a New Super Mario Bros. stage. Sakurai mentioned New Super Mario Bros. but that doesn't mean the stage is based on that. He was simply likening it to the New Super Mario Bros. series.

That's obviously the 3D Land Stage. Sakurai is just commenting on how it's like NSMB because it's sidescrolling. It's transitioning between the second sidescrolling part where you go down a hill and the ocean part.

Ooh, nice update! The stage looks quite chaotic, and although I'm not sure how often I'll play on it, it looks great!

I hope there's a Pictochat-esque stage waiting for the 3DS version. That one was awesome.

This is the kinda update I've always wanted from Sakurai.

Stage looks like Rainbow Cruise 2.0 but actually
fun,
can't wait to see it in action.

I did think the art styles too similar to be different stages, and good point with the hill and ocean part...Just thought it odd that Sakurai would namedrop NSMB if the stage was based off 3D Land.

There was going to be a swapnote stage but they scrapped it.

That's clearly the 3D Land Stage. You can see same pipe in the backgraound:

3DS version has been receiving a lot of love lately. Excellent! That stage looks really nice, I can't wait also to hear the new tunes on each stage! Brawl had amazing arrangements and remixes.

Loving how the 3DS version is looking! I don't think I had seen any screens that showed off the camera being pulled back, but it looks really good. The black outline definitely helps make the characters more visible.
