Can you be summoned into/summon people from a new game into new game+ if soul level matches up?

I love how busy everything is just now but do worry slightly about a drop in activity once I hit new game+.

ng and ng+ (and so on I'd image) are separated.

So far I've lit two of the Primal Bonfires, and I really have to say that Shaded Woods/Ruins is the ugliest of all the areas I've encountered. It looks flat, bland and lifeless. What's sad is I'm sure the concept art for it is amazing.

I love the game, but I find the levels strangely inconsistent in design. The bonfire placement is weird as well.

what's a good weapon for a high faith character?

Like how high? my faith is 22 and i have been using the heidel sword for most of the game, it works pretty damn well i even upgraded it. I'm pretty sure there must be other better faith weapons out there so i'll hold on to my titanites.

Thinking of respecing to put stuff into faith for lighting scaling and the use of miracles whats a good cut off for faith levels for miracles usage and scaling?

Any weapon -> make it lightning +10 -> get sunlight blade miracle

i'm using lightning mace +6 at the moment but I'm not sure if there's anything better worth taking to +10.

40.

Drangleic Castle is spooky as hell. I was so nervous yesterday when I finally set foot in it.
Thankfully I got used to it by now.

74+ hours in, SL 136 I think and still far from being done it seems...

Crazy! we're about the same point in.

I'm lvl 135, and just reached Drangleic Castle, yesterday night. I fought the first boss, and decided to call it a day. I agree, that place gives me the chills, and it's so vertical.. Definitely some of the most tense moments I've faced in the game to this point.

Is this true?
From Reddit (quoting Dark Souls II FAQ?)
Q. I can't match up with friends.
A. The series' theme is to have loosely connected once in a lifetime meetings. Thus, even if your levels and area match up, your friends may not necessarily be able to join you. However if you use the
Name-Engraved Ring
, you can filter the matchmaking results, allowing for you to be more easily matched up with them (this does not guarantee that the match-up will be successful).

I still enjoy(and play hours and hours of) Dark Souls, because I could put a summon sign and help players kill an area boss. Even extend the coop playthrough by killing multiple area bosses in a sequential playthrough.

I'm not that far into the game,
but where can I get the branch for depetrifying the statues blocking my way?

Really? I don't agree. There are areas that look better for sure but I thought it was pretty decent. I was more impressed by the level design of Shaded Ruins because it felt more tightly designed, and I liked the foggy area. The area also has a couple of interesting NPCs, as well as the spooky jar overkill which makes it a creepy place.

I'd say the worst area I've seen so far is actually Things Betwixt, the beginning area.

Anyone here was able to beat the game with a DEX build? Is it possible? I tried making one yesterday, but you need to put some points (14 ~ 16) in STR to be able to equip a decent shield, and, at least in the beginning, DEX weapons suck really hard. With my STR character I found decent weapons really fast, even more with quality builds.

What about raw? I could do the respec vessel if the damage is worth it

If Raw works the same way as it does in Dark Souls 1 (increases base damage but reduces scaling damage) then it might be, but it depends how many points you have invested in strength/dex and their scaling values for the weapon you want to use.

Yessir, I found the falchion was by no means great but served well enough for the early game. And the large leather shield is a fantastic early-mid game shield, only requires 7 str to use.

Need help, any vendor that seels Magic "resin" or whateaver it's called?

Need it to infuse my weapon but i have no idea if there's a merchant who seels 'em or it comes only as enemy drop :/

For a dex build you also need about 16 str yes but that isn't a lot, they throw levels at you in this game. I have focused on dex and enjoyed a lot of the weapons.

Hmm I don't get it. The cartographer
should be in his house, right? But he isn't. I found him in the first area many hours ago. I also killed the skeleton in the basement. There was a small flame on the ground of the basement at first. But now there are seven small flames on the ground.

I have no idea what to do, lol.

Which is the first good DEX weapon I can find in the game? I'm using a Falchion + 3 (no Large Titanite Shard yet), and it does around 180 damage :(

He didn't return for me. Idk.

The flames are bonfires. ;)

Yes, there are different merchant that sell the different resins.

If you mainly like katanas for DEX you're going to be waiting a while, most other types of dex weapons are available fairly early though

Edit: DEX actually has a crapload of variety in this game, there are certain greatswords which scale a and s with dex

Holy shit, the
bonfire ascetics you burned
carries into NG+,
giving the areas you used them on that NG++ feel.

Luckily I only tried one on the first Forest of the Giants bonfire.

WTF did I just see?
I summoned two guys to help me with a boss fight.. We beat the boss rather easily. While we're celebrating, one of them turns into a giant vase and skates away.

hahahah

the added time after you beat a boss is such a minor addition, but it's so great. I mentioned it in an earlier post, but one sunbro in full mirror get-up firestorming and using 'this one's me' had me in stitches. Post boss celebration is incredible.

With my sl135ish character I'm mostly putting my sign down near Velstadt, one of the more fun late game bosses. His intro is badass too

Sunbro-ing in this game is so damn satisfying, could've finished NG today but just been participatin in jolly co-operation

I found good weapons that scale with DEX, but you still need more STR than I would like to put on my characters. Maybe I'm just frustrated because I want a Katana.

I'm curious about what's going on in that basement too - there are bloodstains everywhere!

I can't see the Ring of Life Protection being allowed to stay in its current form for much longer, it's incredibly overpowered. As of now it prevents you from becoming hollow, saves all your souls when you die, is found very early on in the Wharf and and only costs 3000 souls to repair.

Yep love that you have soms extra time tot do gestures

Did you by any chance kill
the last giant
BEFORE talking to
CAle the cartographer
? I did this in this order and he never showed up in the palace.

Well depending on the route you take, I'd say the first katana is anywhere between 15-25 hours into the game

Just finished Drangleic Castle yesterday -- (although I have a feeling I will be going back there soon), the level after i t is pretty amazing also. I was totally expecting to like, back track to Majula or something or have something else happen in the castle. But nope, amazing view ahead and a whole new area (then another whole new area after that).

While DKSII may not have the same tightly interlocking world that DKSI has, it has far more of a 'hub and spoke' type thing of Demon's Souls --- and just how well designed each of these areas is and how they unfold into the next in unexpected ways is amazing - and I love it.

Falchion is a great Dex weapon. I don't know where you are but I got it to +5 pretty fast. Mine is at +7 now and still serving me well. I think you just missed some shards in chests.

Lol. I just found out that you can 2hand a shield, parry with it, and then counterstrike right after. Seems like the safest route would be to just go 2handing a shield and bashing everything, ha ha.

Ehhh, that doesn't sound overpowered at all.

Curse seems to work differently in this game. I was cursed fully from a pot, and it said 'you are cursed' but there was a very quick timer that dropped and then it went away. In Dark Souls when you get cursed, you die and the start again with half health. I'm assuming that curse just turns you hollow?
