K, I'm a little lost...(early game-ish spoilers)

Just killed the lost sinner and ornstein, and have no idea where to go. Have one special (primeval?) bonfire lit.

have you been to iron keep or harvest valley/earthen peak?

Although when I left the rat covenant, he was pretty pissed at me and said my transgression would not go unpunished or something like that. But then he let me back in.

that's rats for ya

No. Just
Heide's (sp?) Ruins, Forrest of the Giants, the pirate bay thing that leads you the other way around to the Bastille, and the Bastille + the lost sinner's area
. I have a key I don't think I've used yet (
ancient key
), but other than that it just seems like I'm wandering aimlessly.

So does anyone have any tips on beating the (wheelchair wizard spoiler)
Dark Chasm of Old zones
?

I am being brutalized so hard. I have beaten
Havel and Ricard but the Shotel woman i
s killing me and I can by no means beat the first two reliably. I'm about level 110 with a 40 Dex and a maxed out Murakomo but it feels like I just should not be here yet. Any tips or weaknesses from those who've done these zones?
The zone you're doing is the hardest of them in my opinion. My strategy was:
For Dark Havel, I would two-hand my greatsword and hit havel twice which was enough to stagger him and then I would run away and repeat.
Then I would run left and rush down the wizard. No strategy I would just go in swinging.
Then I would lure Ricard out of his tunnel. I abused my poise to just start swinging at him. I found this battle to go *horribly* if I tried to defend against him. He would knock my shield out of the way and combo the shit out of me so I found it better to just swing and pray.
For the shotel woman I went back to 2-handing my weapon, 2 swings to stagger, and then run away.

The main problem with these guys is that they are excellent at destroying the "block and circle strafe" strategy we're all so used to. Meeting them head on found me much greater success.

Expected Black Gulch to be a lot worse than it was. The statues were annoying as hell but all told the area doesn't take more than 5 minutes to fully explore.

Okay. Well to get to Harvest Valley you need to get through Huntsmans Copse. To open Huntsmans Copse, you need to go to the Tower of Flame bonfire in Heide's and talk to the cleric lady there until you've exhausted her dialogue. She'll move to Majula and if you go to the cave you go through in order to reach Heide's (near the cat house), she'll be there. Talk to her and she'll open the door to Huntsmans Copse for 3k souls. good luck! :)

yep, it helps
you auto lock him from any distance instead of just 2 ft in front

I don't have auto-lock on. In fact, I don't really use lock on much at all for anything beyond spells. That being said, the darkness in that area made it more intense.

Has anyone experienced hacks in this game?

I was in Old Bastille and summoned a red phantom. He was a caster type guy, and I brought all his health down to zero but he didn’t die. The battle happened really fast and got a little crazy. And I thought I had killed him, but half a second later somehow there was some huge explosion (not sure if it was one of those barrels or if it was some spell he did) and I ended up dying and he was standing there with zero health left. Then he did the 'no way' gesture, lol.

I’m not necessarily accusing him of hacking (I’ve been killed legitimately more times than I can count), I just want to understand what happened. Just not sure if there’s some item that keeps red phantoms alive somehow. It also seemed like it could’ve been that armor set with really low durability that has some ‘great power’ upon breaking, like that’s what caused the explosion that killed me if he was wearing it.

Who knows maybe he just had 1hp left and I never brought him down.

I also messaged him after like “lol wtf happened why didn’t you die?” and he wrote back something like “Narh Alma protects his followers hehehe” or some cryptic shit like that.

So, anyone know wtf happened?

He probably had a couple of those rings that explode when the wearer hits a certain level of health.
They are hilarious bullshit.

I'm more surprised people get through this and DS1 with lock on. Was annoying as hell, especially in pvp. I don't use a shield, so I don't need it. Easier to dodge without it.

No shield? You use a melee character? I'd like to drop the shield and just use my greatsword if you have any tips. I'm way too heavy.

Still haven't been invaded once.

Got summoned as a blue phantom (once), got summoned into rat world three times, but still no traditional red eye invasions.

You can respec as long as you have a soul vessel. Each time respec uses up 1 soul vessel. I don't know how many you can find in one run.

I read there's a bug where female characters become male upon respec. Anyone know if this is confirmed? (I guess I could always use the
coffin
to flip back, but wasn't sure if it changed appearance.)

I mean, the only time I go without lock on is on certain bosses. Otherwise, i'd rather have an eye on them at all times so i dont get any surprises.

I hate bosses that spawn with minions.

The Spider
is already the seccond boss where instead of making the boss hard the only difficulty comes from a group of lesser enemies that are only there to annoy you.

BTW (regarding same are as that boss))
So I killed the spider and lit the second primal bonfire. Where do I go now?

After the lost sinner you should have aquired an item to unpetrify people.
You can use it on the girl who is blocking a lever (sort of) near Manjula (going in the direction where you originally came from, where there is a guy sitting with a big blue sword).

Im doing some shit damage to the smelter demon, im sl 102 with some +7 single handed weapons.
Then in his 3rd phase he destroys me with his fire sword. First boss in the game so far that I yelled out loud about. :D

But yeah not sure how to do better damage. But I need to find some better fire resistant stuff for sure.

Did I do something stupid?
Accidentally killed the scorpion dude in shaded ruins. Didn't think that he was an npc, so i sniped him from above. What's he for?

Now that I have finished the game, I am watching some other people play. The fact that so many people are destroying multiple wooden chests in fear of mimics is infuriating.

It's hilarious. It was my instinct at first as well, and no doubt From put destructible chests in for that very reason.

I think it's hilarious. People are terrified of chests. Just think what will happen when they get the bright idea to make some enemy that can mimic ANYTHING in the environment. Chairs, barrels, whatever.

Guys can I just use the white "soul of a lost undead" soul of a proud knigh Or do I need to hold on for later in the game (to feed them to someone for more souls)

Can some anwser this please? Give me a good anwser

If you buy the whispering ring from the cat, you can talk to him a few times and then you can summon him for help with the boss

Why would they do that? It doesn't get destroyed after one hit, but you only need to hit it once to see if it's a mimic

If you ever come up short leveling or for a purchase use them. Otherwise hold onto them.

So anyone have any advice on what some of the best giant swords are? Including stuff like Claymores and Zweihanders along with giant Guts swords and whatnot

Specifically for a STR user but either way will do...

how can i
open the two doors to the left and right before the lost sinner fight ?

You need a key from
Belfry Luna, which is an area that can be accessed by using a Pharros' Lockstone in the servant's quarters after defeating the Ruin Sentinels
.

got buried

how can i
open the two doors to the left and right before the lost sinner fight ?

After the Ruin Sentinels, there's a room under the first bonfire that you come across. Use a Pharos Lockstone, go through the next area, and clear the boss and the rest of the area. You'll get the key you need.

hey i joined the covenant in majula called victor's something, the description made it sound like it would made the enemies harder but i notice no difference also i got a tablet with a leaderboard on it. Can someone spoil what does the covenant actually do.
I beat the
gargoyles
that was a fucking bitch of a fight but i did it yay!
Also does anyone else finds this game is packed with stuff to do and discover? there's so many doors and stuff to find. I don't remember dark souls being this dense.
