Talk to the woman in the tower in heide's for a bit.. she'll move to town (if you haven't done that already). Then go down the stairs behind the cat house and talk to her

yes, she moved a long time ago, but i haven't met her since then. have to check where you said. there was no reason to go there, so i never stumbled upon her. thanks.

I'm on the way to the Iron Keep (I think) and I must be doing something wrong. I have to pass that chasm with four of those fast bastards, fight a red phantom, and then a boss?
There has to be a shortcut or something I'm missing here because it's just getting downright stupid at this point.

Ah, looking it up it looks like I'm headed somewhere else. I guess I'll leave this terrible section for another day.

Weapons though. I got the rapier and found the whip. Are they worth upgrading at all? Also crafted that warped sword but it doesn't look like it'll be much use until it's upgraded.

The other place you can go is if you unpetrify the woman holding the switch before town.

From someone who tried using both rapier and whip (dual powerstancing too)... don't... spare yourself.

I'm nowhere near done with the game yet, but I thought that
The Lost Sinner
was easily as hard as Artorias. As a Dex/Caster who
didn't know about the illumination trick
he gave me absolutely NO breathing room.

Yea, he seemed like a total pushover to me. No summoned helper and I beat him first try.

I THOUGHT he was going to be difficult after watching the GB quicklook of it... but then he was a joke.

What would you recommend? I've been using the Falchion and Scimitar the entire game. I want to mix it up but I'm not finding Dex weapons anywhere.

You powerstancing them or just regular? Falcion was a great weapon when I tried it. I'm not going to give suggetions because it's personal preference, but whip and rapier are something you should only do if you want a challenge. Whip if you want a HUGE challenge.

Could someone explain why I can't use my white soap stone right now? I'm at
shrine of amana
and there's a little soapstone on the top left under my healthbar an it's crossed out. The soapstone is greyed out as well. I can go anywhere else in the world and place it, but not here.

Powerstance.

I've literally had all the same equipment since the Forrest of the Giants, so roughly 10+ hours. I just can't seem to find anything that works for my Dex character.

Well you could try a regular sword that requires strength and two hand it. Even at 10 str you could wield a 15 str sword...

So I'm stuck between the
rat
boss and the
spider
boss, unable to beat either. I guess it's time to summon some help.

Is there a specific reason why
I wouldn't be getting summoned anymore for the bell keeper covenant?
I've been waiting for about 15 minutes but nothing. I'm soul level 118, is that too high?

Okay, so all you Blue Sentinels out there, I had my first experience protecting a host. I was in the Hunstman's Copse. From my experience, it seems like there are a decent amount of invasions there. Anyway, I put the ring on, popped an effigy, and got summoned while I let my character sit by the bonfire while I looked up something online.

So some things to note: you should be in areas where PvP is strongest, like Hunstman's Copse. You might have to be human for it to work as well, but I can't confirm that. I was human. Also, don't forget to try the Cracked Blue Eye Orb as well for revenge!

Pretty cool. Unfortunately the host died, so I failed...ha ha.

Mad warriors mask is bad ass.
Im a skeleton with badass dreadlocks.

Decent defense for a mask as well.
Got invaded by a naked dude power stancing 2 large clubs, he destroyed me though lol.

Flew through
Pharros/shaded woods/brightstone cove
but got to the boss who killed me almost instantly. Gonna need to go get a better weapon now. Im yet to respec though.

I'm torn between respeccing now knowing what I know about the available weapons (mostly just tweaking my stats), or waiting a bit and completely altering my build.

Did you farm from the red phantom in belfry sol?

[late game spoilers]
Man, Aldia's keep is so fucking creepy. Resident Evil mansion vibes there. All those caged monstrosities, the forbidden experiments... ewww. Luckily the view after that is gorgeous! Love the Dragon Aerie so far.

Btw, the Royal Sorcerer Navlaan or whoever is a total asshole. Acid cloud that does damage! Haha fuck you.
My goodness pyromancy is awesome. Flame Swathe damage and AOE is incredible, although not sure how well it would work in pvp. Its been very effective thus far, but not sure how viable dodging out would be this early on while the game hasn't been out long. The AOE is very deceptive I think as damage is still incurred even when enemies are outside the ring of explosion. I know that lingering flame seems to be good for pvp, but the casting time on it is so long, don't think it would be all that effective except at the beginning of an encounter.

Can you give general directions of where this pyromancy is? I'm pretty far in the game, I think (I'm at the
Dragon Aerie and according to the bonfire travel I have few bonfires left to unlock)
and I haven't found it.

Flame swathe is useless during pvp most of time. Players can just dodge out of the area with one roll. I only use it when player drinks estus.

I think I need some advice.

I've killed 7 bosses;
the Last Giant, Dragonrider, Dragonslayer, the Pursuer, 3 Sentinels, Flexible Sentry, and the Royal Rat Vanguard
.

I've found the first Bonfire in both
Sinner's Rise
and
the Gutter
. Doesn't feel like either of those areas are quite right at the moment. Is there anywhere else I should go first? I don't think I've found any other paths, but I've found that playing late at night kinda makes me blind. And stupid.

My build is all over the place, and I'm currently rocking the Heide Knight Sword +2, which I should probably do something about.

So, if someone could vaugely point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Got invaded in the Aldis Manor, cowardly little shit ran behind mobs every time he was low so I popped a Giant Seed lol. I eventually got him low enough that he just ran away with his tail between his legs trying to heal, gunned him down with a 50 ft Lightning Spear.

Yeah, if you get summoned as a Blue Sentinel, you have to find your host really quick or else he might get ganked.

There was a shining light that guided me the direction, so at least it won't be too much trouble. I made it to them and fought the invader for a bit but he ran around a lot, and I got carried away with switching something in my inventory, and then by the time I reached them the host died. I chased the invader around until I got pulled back, lol.

I'm a little bit stuck right now, I have many paths to take but in every one of them I get totally raped.

On Sinner's Rise after going down the elevator the weird beast there and the exploding guys rape me.

I explored The Gutter and got to Black Gulch where the poison rapes me.

Managed to get past the foggy woods with invisible enemies and got to the bonfire, but now the axe wielding minotaurs gang up on me and rape me
.

Any tips on these areas? I'm currently using a Fire Longsword + 5 as my main weapon, any recommendations on other weapons I can use?

Also, how do I get some titanite after the blacksmith stop selling them?

Yeah, you definitely need a better weapon. I can't give advice on that since I don't know your stats, though. But as for to go next, you do have another option but it's not necessarily easier than those you have open:
After defeating the Dragonrider, you surely met a woman that sells miracles. She'll have relocated in the contraption area that led to Heide's tower from Majula. Pay her 2k souls to open up a new area. This new area has two bosses, one that's optional and the other that's required to proceed on a long but very rewarding path.

This is how every 1 on 1 goes in this game.

5 second mexican standoff between me and an enemy. I attack because he's not doing anything. He starts attacking at the same time as me (as if programmed to do so) and we both take damage. But I get stunned, leaving myself open to 2 or 3 more hits! Yay!

And who doesn't love it when their attacks miss for no reason. Pretty sure most games of the early 3D era have better hitboxes than this.

Get good. (Sorry, had to.)

You need a better weapon too. Can't advise on that because I don't know your build, but that fire longsword can serve well early on but gets obsolete eventually. Also, you might want to check my reply above to ttk, you might have missed this area. A tip on the
Black Gulch: it's a very short area, and the boss, while he hits hard, is easy to dodge and shouldn't cause you too many problems. However with your weapon, I'm not sure. But I'm fairly certain it can be done. If you take your time this boss is a total pushover. The area that leads to it is a pain in the ass, but there's a hidden bonfire very close to the boss that may help.

What seems to be a good weapon in the ultra great size bracket, if you want to pvp? Boss souls stuff?

Ultra greats kinda sucked for pvp in DS1 against anybody who knew what they were doing. If you have to though, go with the zweihander. Nice wide swing, wide enough that all you have to do is hit a person once for a stagger then the match is yours. The rolling attack isn't bad either. That being said, I'd sooner go normal greatsword than ultra for pvp. PVE ultras are great though.

Eh, I'm kinda disappointed in the dex line up myself. Takes forever to get a katana, and they screwed up the Falchion's motion and attack speed(And gave it to the normal Axes, oddly enough). If you really want to go with something else, the estoc isn't terrible, neither is the winged tipped or heide knight spear.

Thanks :) I've never used big swords in soul games much, used to go with spear and small swords earlier, plus magic. What sort of normal greatsword would work best?

Bastard sword is generally all-around solid when fully ranked up. Decent charge attack.

A minus is that the normal swing is vertical, and thus very dodge-able, but the power is horizontal to make up for it.

Just two hand and beat on their guard till they get staggered from taking too many hits. They made it so breaking someone's guard has the same effect as a parry now.

I'll try to find that area and try my luck on the
Black Gulch boss

Anyone gotten to rank 3 in blue sentinels/brotherhood of blood yet? After re-reading the reqs it looks like invasions and arena might not stack with each other and you need 500 kills exclusively in either. I'm starting to think this is the case ugh

Thanks, for the tips, both of you. I'll do a respec on my faith guy for the str build and test out both the bastard and claymore movesets before I decide :)

Fixed my build a little, took my wasted points out of adaptability and dumped them into attunement. Funny thing is my agility stat is just as high but now I cast way faster and have enough slots for 2x SLB and 2x GMB. Or I can bring some pyromancy, or whatever.

I fully upgraded Velstadt's set, had to hunt those guys in Shrine of Amana to near-extinction to get enough twinkling titanite but as soon as I saw that set I knew I'd use it forever. I used Garl's set in DeS and Leeroy's set in DaS after all. The defense is massive, especially for Dark which seems like something that isn't on a lot of sets. I doubt it'll save me from 1500 damage resonant soul spammers in PVP but they aren't too common anyways.

Speaking of PVP I finally joined the duel-oriented covenant. I already had enough of the items to hit rank 1, but now I can get some fights in without losing humanity. Duel summons seem near-instant too.

So far only been one guy who tried to hit me as I zoned in, chugged estus etc. And he died horribly to greatclub 2HR2 so it's all good. Funny thing is I actually got invaded while waiting on the bridge, I guess this really is the PVP hotspot now.

Sunlight blade greatclub does utterly absurd damage if I actually connect. I killed a guy in one running attack into R1 somehow. I have enough HP that I don't get stunlocked from full to dead anymore so poise being nonfunctional stings a bit less. Still have to be extremely careful with a weapon as slow as the great club, but I have some miracle spam to fall back on if things go south. Still have yet to land sunlight spear on anyone else since that one guy I one shotted, but emit force works great.

Flame swathe is useless during pvp most of time. Players can just dodge out of the area with one roll. I only use it when player drinks estus.

I use it in pvp all the time. 1 shots most ppl and sometime the ball ends up behind them so they dont see it coming.
Its pretty broken tbh

Anyone have recommendations for a pure melee dexterity dual wielder? I'm using a Falchion+5 and Scimitar+4 right now, and I think still all my default armor. What are some good things to hunt down? What about applying magic to weapons - is it worth it with almost no points in int/fth?

Ok fuck this. I'm giving up on that goddamn
chariot.

By itself it's manageable but I can't deal with the respawning skeletons. Not enough stamina to block them out.
