Just beat the game. It was an awesome ride. This game is huge! So many areas to explore, and I just didn't want to stop playing. I enjoyed it a lot more than the other two souls games, but that may have to do with this being my first true blind run. The ending was not that great, but souls game so yeah.
In all honesty I thought this game was harder than DeS, and DaS. I hear everyone saying it's easier, but maybe it's just me, or my build. The enemies being more aggressive, the crappy parry, more difficult backstabs, and roll being different took a while for me to get used to. I enjoyed the bosses. Have a feeling that I was over leveled for some because I missed some locations early on. Some had me screaming in anger while others had me laugh at how easy they were.
Also had a lot of fun in PvP this time around. PvP was something I never really got into in the other games because I got into them so late. Aside from a few laggy matches here and there it was overall a smoother experience for me. The servers are populated so it should stay that way for a while. Really like the new covenants, and now I can try them all out without having to dedicate fully or start a new game.

Wha!
First off:where is uchigatana?
And second:How lightning? I was under the impression you needed to beat smelter demon to get the stuff to imbue elements into weapons.
Go to things betwixt and respec using the soul vessel.Made some poor weapon choices that have left me terribly underpowered. I'm SL81 and it feels like early-game, though now with poisoning to deal with.
Which reminds me: so you don't get your body back from killing bosses as a summon, you don't get it back when defeating a boss yourself, wtf man? Effigy & "big" bosses only? No wonder no one's invading - everyone's fucking hollow all the time. I haven't had my human body for like five hours.
But so yeah, any advice/tips for this kind of bind? It can't be uncommon. How does one get out of these sorts of ruts?

Thanks I beat him. I just upgraded the Gyrm Greatshield (100% fire block) and it made a mockery of his attacks. He is the same powered up as he is when he isn't as far as i can tell. He just hits harder.
keep to his right side (Your left) and roll towards him when he swings under his arm get 2 hits in then move to the left again.
Use a magic weapon or poison and try not to use a slashing weapon if you can help it.
I did but it does bugger all damage. The poison killed him in the end.

Be better at assigning your levels.
Not a bug. If you're in the rat covenant, they don't attack you.I never got into the pvp aspects of the souls games before for several reasons but i'm really enjoying pvp in dark souls 2. Thats why the rat covenant is so damn good basically assholes come into my world to get killed, i can be a real asshole that way which is fucking great. Anything from killing fools with my lighting while they have their back turned while facing enemies to lowering their equipment durability with an item or the enviroment. Too bad it takes fucking forever to level up in the covenant, i had to kill like 10 dudes before i gained a new rank. Btw my character name is Emeric so maybe i kill one of ya i dunno lol.
Also i think my game is bugged, in pharros right after the bonfire the enemies don't aggro no matter what i do and they are also invincible so they just stand there. Its a bug right? i'm not missing anything right?
Ok, i see. Thanks for the info to everyoneYep, you need to be human to see any summon signs (human or NPC). I believe if you join the Victor's Covenant (I didn't) that it prevents summons as well.
You will need to be online for human summons. You should still be able to get NPC summons offline, though.
Which area in specific is that?So my game is bugged 34 hours in and I'm unable to progress since theof the main doors to the final area isn't behaving as it should.left statue
FML. Do you guys think I should wait for a patch?
I've done that twice (lol); my levels are fine so far as I can tell; the problem is all my upgraded weapons are shit (Twinblade, Notched Whip, etc.) and have no recourse but to use un-upgraded weapons or stick with that garbage. No souls, no titanite, no effigy, cursed to fuck.
Tell me I'm not looking at a restart ...

Not too hard. You'll need 2.5 playthroughs (to unlock Chancellor Wellager's upgraded wares) and a few respecs depending on your build (must meet INT/FTH requirement for some spell vendors to sell you stuff). I'm working on NG+ right now. The only trophies I need is collect all sorceries/miracles/etc and inheritequipment, which I need one more boss for. I'll get all four spell collection trophies on NG++.Lucatiel's
I wonder whats the connection between pharros and the rat covenant.
I thought the same but then it kept on going. Plenty more dying to go.Just unlocked the entrance to D.ranleig Castle
Am I close to finishing the game? I feel like I still have many places and doors unopened.
Which area in specific is that?
The main doors to Drangleic Castle
Thedoes mention Pharros in some of his dialogues. Maybe Pharros was a member of the covenant?Rat King
I see. As perorist mentioned, maybe you havnt killed off all soldiers yet? Try searching on both sides. On the left side, there is a small "hallway", its a dead end, but maybe some soldiers are down there. The main doors to Drangleic Castle
Go toNot sure where I have to go. I've collected thefour giant souls and killed the boss in the throne of want... Do I have to kill Vendrick?
So similar to DkS1. I remember that required some PvP to level up certain covenants to unlock magic or weapons. Same sort of thing required here?
I think Halberd is pretty good when upgraded. That is what i use at least, Halberd +10.Can I get a weapon recommendation? Currently gotand i'm working my way trough thetwo of the main soulsnow. I'm using a Mace +7 right now and as far as damage goes it's great. My big issue with it is reach. I gotta get right up in someone face to hit them. Is their another weapon that I should be keeping an eye out for?Doors of Pharros
So at some point (I think while I was intheDrangleic Castlestarted showingbonfire travel menuIs there a particular reason/trigger for that? Doesn't matter, just curious.greyed out placeholders for the bonfires I haven't found yet.

I think it just shows that there is one or several of bonfires that you have missed. I missed a few myself.
I miss the fact that you can't easily upgrade multiple weapons now, Chuncks are annoying to get, and twinkeling titanite seems extremly rare ass well. I want to try more weapons, but it's annoying i can't get them past +6, and forget about weapons needing twinkelsprinkel. I already spent the ones i got.
Maybe i should hunt down some crystal lizzards.
Smelter Demon:
I fucking almost had him, the first time I tried out the Dark Pine Resin. He went down twice as fast. Then he did his explosion thing and I was just one step too close. Bah!
Second time, I thought, "okay, I know I can handle him, let's turn human" and I noticed a summon sign. I thought, "why not." Fucking summons are messing with my strategy. I find that this happens more often; I prefer soloing bosses after a time, so I can roll any way I want to. Damnit now I'm out of Dark Pine Resins and back to getting obliterated.
Any where I can get more Dark Pine Resins?
ALso, I've killed all the Alonne Knights, and no blacksteel Katana so far

Had to summon two guys to help me beat the. Cuz fuck them and their stupid ass spinning attacks. First time I summoned people in a Souls game. It was fun.Ruin Sentinels
Do note, there's abonfire right after you beat him. If you go back down after sitting at the bonfire, a Pursuer clone materializes, who is pretty hard. Had to be super patient with him, but he gives you a Ring of Blades + 1 if you beat him.
Which reminds me: so you don't get your body back from killing bosses as a summon, you don't get it back when defeating a boss yourself, wtf man? Effigy & "big" bosses only? No wonder no one's invading - everyone's fucking hollow all the time. I haven't had my human body for like five hours.
spoilery stuff
I found a path leading toinBelfry Lunawith a midget fromLost Bastille. Does this guy attack me if I venture deeper in without joining?Bell Covenant
Dude not a bug.You need to lure and kill one of the endlessly respawning enemies so he dies RIGHT NEXT to the other statue (the one that isn't holding the vase), it will absorb the enemies soul and activate the door.
I see. As perorist mentioned, maybe you havnt killed off all soldiers yet? Try searching on both sides. On the left side, there is a small "hallway", its a dead end, but maybe some soldiers are down there.
There's probably more guys straggling around to the side of the castle, I thought it glitched on me too but you have to kill them all. Also that is not even remotely close to the final area yet
