I'm pretty sure the wider audience didnt mind watching on a stream which alot of the people who already watch E3 already does for the past 4 years minimum now, and the even wider audience finds out about this stuff afterwards.

On a more serious note, did you play the game alone, or with others in co-op? I played the whole thing through in co-op, and honestly the co-op is what comprised at least 75% of the fun from that game

Not quite, that's to unlock the Reggie Mii playable character. It's one of the new challenges called "The beast awaketh, His body is ready."
EDIT for post below: I would be super excited to see them be revealed! I've been wondering about them ever since the comments about the 3DS having troubles handling multiple characters. But hey, if Rosalina and LumaNuma made it in, then I don't see why Nana and Popo can't, either

Just saying we have no way to really say that's the case. Claims that "the majority" felt this or that is based on what? Reviews? 20 or so GAF posts sharing the same opinion? What's your methodology?
What about people who decided against buying the game or even a Wii U because the game isn't what they wanted? What about the dissatisfied? They'd hardly have a fun time posting in the OP. Maybe "the majority" of those who would've otherwise been excited by a different 3D Mario are simply silent.
More specifically on-topic, that game's reveal ruined Nintendo's E3.
Even more on-topic, I hope Mario gets a buff in Smash 4.

Those are just two examples I was able to give without much time or thought put into them.
