That's a long time from now. Geez.
It's about what you would/should expect.

It better be for Win7 or otherwise I will wait for Win9, provided they don't fuck up that OS.
What does this mean for my Xbox. This is all I want to know

Forza Motorsport 5 is an example of a game that pushes the Xbox One to the limit with its fast-paced photorealistic racing experience. Under the hood, Forza achieves this by using the efficient low-level APIs already available on Xbox One today. Traditionally this level of efficiency was only available on console now, Direct3D 12, even in an alpha state, brings this efficiency to PC and Phone as well. By porting their Xbox One Direct3D 11.X core rendering engine to use Direct3D 12 on PC, Turn 10 was able to bring that console-level efficiency to their PC tech demo.

Scott Michaud: Apparently NVIDIA's blog says DX12 discussion begun more than four years ago "with discussions about reducing resource overhead". They worked for a year to deliver "a working design and implementation of DX12 at GDC".

not all that much really...What does this mean for my Xbox. This is all I want to know
They are targeting the end of 2015....so Win 7 might be out...It better be for Win7 or otherwise I will wait for Win9, provided they don't fuck up that OS.
I find it strange that Xbox is so closely tied to DirectX when being free from its limitations is pretty much one of the biggest console advantages.
Hopefully by Holiday 2015 gaming on Linux/SteamOS will be popular enough to provide a safe haven from Windows 9.
So is this only for new GPU's or for old ones too?

The name Xbox comes from the DirectX API...
That is only about a year and a half. Not that long, but it is still a wait.

They said this throughout the presentation...AMD did with Mantle as well "console like" is the key...It looks like the main thing with dx12 is actually expanding it's market to pc/phone/tablet. Basically, making it somewhat easier to develop games on these platforms. Could Microsoft be using this and gaming in general as a way to boost the market share of Microsoft phones/tablets?
Let's hope windows 9 is desktop friendly.
So much for the FUD that people were spreading about Dx12 being conceived only a few months a go due to Mantle being released.
It was running on a PC at E3....Forza 5 running on PC. A nice slap in the face from Microsoft.
I think everyone still using windows xp and windows 7 are hoping the same thing.
Lol what was so bad about this DirectX announcement that makes you want a "safe haven from Windows 9"?I find it strange that Xbox is so closely tied to DirectX when being free from its limitations is pretty much one of the biggest console advantages.

Let's hope SteamOS will be a viable alternative when Windows 9 launches.

Xbone domination postponed to late 2015.
Does anyone think the X1 should of came out in 2014?
I thought it was said it was on an xbox?
Great, so we have to deal with misterxmedia's delusion for almost another 2 years.

So the CPU benefits are only from Haswell and up on Intel's side?
