you probably ganked him before he could summon a knight, I just learned that the
covetous demon
has an attack that basically de-equips all your armor, rings and weapons and leaves you naked from watching the giant bomb playthrough.

He did that to me and I finished him up with my fists, felt like a goddamned boss.

Six, how do I do the
3 ruin dudes
without a shield???

I'm getting rocked solo.

You just need to be really on the ball with dodges. The two attacks you can punish the hardest are the overhead smash and the two-hand horizontal attack. The first guy should be really easy, then you need to do as much damage as you can to the 2nd guy that jumps up immediately after his jump up attack. You only have a few seconds to fight that second guy 1v1 up there before the 3rd one jumps up, so you probably won't be able to get more than 1 set of attacks in before you need to jump down. After that, just focus on the one that you weakened, and make sure you stay close to them because they seem more likely to do the spinning attack, which is hard as hell to avoid with no shield. Once you kill the 2nd one it's easy.

If you have any gold pine resins or the magic damage ooze, that adds a lot of damage. I was twohanding a +3 mace, and with 4 attacks in a row I was able to stagger them. I usually had just enough time to get 4 attacks off when I dodged the overhead or the two hand swipe.

My first taste of the
Smelter Demon
and I'm getting flashbacks to my first attempts with the Centipede Demon. I got complete camera spaz-out when I was immediately cornered and couldn't tell where the hell I was, in front or behind.

At least I found the
ember
finally. Now to get my 40k back!

I'm currently a Int/Faith build using a little bit of Sorceries, Miracles and Hexes (SL: 130) considering switching out to something else with a respec. But I do love me some spells...

Today i found out that the champions covenant makes all the enemies
stronger
thanks to gaf.

now I understand why I had so much trouble with
The Pursuer and the Ruin Sentinels
.

I both and hate the fact that this happend to me.

I got all the way to TLS before I realized this lol, I had it on the whole time.

I'm sort of stuck in Drangleic Castle, could someone give me a pointer?
I'm in the room where you fight the Ruin Sentinels, I've opened the two sets of doors on each side, and had the giants light their torches, but one door on each side remains unopened, how do I get them open?

I kind of agree that there are a lot of mundane fights. I've only killed 9 bosses, and 3 of them were pretty basic circle around and slash strategies:

Last Giant
Dragonrider (this guy especially)
Four-armed sword guy

Pursuer
and
Lost Sinner
are also edging on too mundane. The former is saved by some interesting Penetrator-style moves and the latter by his Artorias-like speed and leaping. I wish I had thought to use the ballistas for
Persuer
, if only to add a cool factor.

The problem is that this one on one melee style of boss is too easy. So far only
The Triplets
have taken me more than two tries.
Some of these
Pursuer (well, kind of), Lost Sinner, Flexible Sentry
are fixed by various interesting changes in new game+

Pursuer - in Drangleic castle, in the throne room, you fight 2x powered up Pursuers at once.
Lost sinner gains 2 black phantom pyromancer allies 1/3 of the way into the fight
Flexible Sentry gets 2 melee guys that jump in right at the start

Open more of the soul activated doors.

Should I talk to Gavlan in No Mans warf?

Absolutely, talk through his options and he moves to a few more areas you have to talk to him until he moves to Majula. He's the only person you can sell stuff too. So don't miss him and you won't be able to wheel and deal.

What other areas does he visit? I only talked to him when I returned to Warf recently.

Wow, I definitly don't do that much dmg, gonna have to look into it, maybe come back later.

At Earthen Peak, he offers you to use the ladder for 2000 souls, and then you can go down to a ledge and pick up an item (unfortunately i cant remember what it is). Maybe you can drop down there if you have enough health and use the cat's ring (not sure what exactly it is called, but that ring that allows you to drop from higher distances and take less damage from falling). But if this works, i dont think you can get up, so you need to either warp to the bonfire or die.
.

I think it's a
twinkling titanite
. I did the same thing though and later came back and just jumped down there anyway (landed on one of the beams that sticks out the side).

I killed
the horse carriage monster
and don't know where to go. I feel like i exhausted all my options.

i got the thing to
un statue people.
Is that statue in Majula my next destination?

Are there any giant monster bosses at all in this game? Just beat
ruin sentinals
and while this game is improving, im still dissapointed by bosses so far. The levels seem to be getting progressively better though. Hopefully it keeps up.

Am I screwed if I forgot to buy the blacksmith key from the merchant at the bonfire in the giants world? She disappeared after I defeated the first boss
giant
so I think I may have to start over unless there is some other way to get the key

Jesus that
pursuer thing
sounds like a nightmare.

Most people seem to be a bit overpowered and kill the boss before they do their other attacks.

oh wow

well i'll wait for NG+ then :D

Check around Majula

Weird, I got an achievement from a merchant:
buying all the ladders from Creighton in Majula. Pretty surprising.

There are a couple like that, as long as you keep talking to NPCs and exhausting all their dialogue you'll get special items and gifts.

Thats weird I've defeated that boss and a few others and the merchant hasn't disappeared from bonfire area yet.
