PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

I'm pretty excited for BL2. But I'm the very small group that owns consoles that can play it already, and yet hasn't already played it. I've probably played around 50% of BL1.

Is the (EU) PS+ discount for Luftrausers and Steamworld Dig an introductory offer or a permanent reduction?

If it is a temporary offer does anybody know how long it will last for?

Most of the time, these type of offers last one week.

Tbh my only experience with Borderlands was with 1. It was fun enough, but my friend is raving about how much better 2 is in terms of everything so I'm interested in checking it out. I'm actually more interested in seeing how well it translated to the Vita, seeing as the other prominent UE3 games on it don't stack up too well to their console counterparts.

Borderlands 2 is pretty much Borderlands 1.5, keep your expectations in check.

Also glad I got FFX on Vita. It looks so nice, I can't imagine how good it would look at native res. Definitely the best looking sub-native game on Vita.

The only thing putting me off BL2 on Vita is that I'd have to start it from scratch. I played through it on PC originally, so there's no chance of getting my save across :(

Borderlands is the only FPS game I can get into. Played a lot of BL1. Played a ton of BL2. Stopped playing when Vita version was announced (had finished Tiny Tina's DLC by then, too), and now I'm waiting. Will probably purchase on launch (and then try to transfer my PC save to the PS3 version and then cross-save to the Vita - if it fails, I'll happily start a new Gaige :3 ).

Thing is: there's 2 or 3 threads talking about the Vita version, so I guess people didn't feel the need to talk about it here.

edit: just stole this from reddit:

My Borderlands 2 GDC Experience

So, no video unfortunately but I played it a bit and spoke to Mat Milberger who is the senior producer on the project at SCEA and is working with the Dev and gearbox.

First some news:
- He said that a release date announcement should be coming "hopefully in the next week."
- The build at GDC was not close to final. Expect better FPS and load times at release. (Speaking as a Dev who added 10 FPS to his own game recently, I can tell first hand a lot can be achieved in terms of optimizations)
- The came comes with 6 DLC packs. No others are currently supportrd but it would "be nice to get the complete experience'
- They are targeting 30 FPS. From the way he spoke about it, it won't be locked at 30 and will more than likely dip down frequently. We will have to wait for final build.
trophies should carry over. Not sure if that meant same trophy list or if you did a "cross save" with all trophies on PS3 you would get all trophies on Vita.

Now my experience:

- Game and gunplay felt good.
- There were frame drops and it felt like upper 20s-30.
- Some particle effects but very minimal
- You can create a custom controller layout swapping any function anywhere else. So feel free to put anything you want on the back touch pad.

if you're waiting for BL2 it seems worth it. Will it wow people and convince them to buy a vita? I'd say no. The art style and lack of bodies after kill probably won't convince anyone. I would have said same about BL2 on PS3 though.

Feel free to post questions. I will try to answer.

Is PSN acting weird for anyone else. Bought a 50$ PSN card so I can preorder Infamous:SS to get the Cole Legacy DLC, and I can't seem to log in to the website whatsoever. I click sign in and it just flashes. Tried it on my phone data and didn't work, tried it directly to my ps4 and it won't even connect to psn. Lame that this has to happen right when I"m ready to buy Infamous :(

It's taking forever.. At least it's somewhat closer.

At least it's out of Engine/505's hands at this point. It's all on Sony/MS to clear it and then it's good to go. I'd guess we have less than a month before we see it (unless it fails to pass cert, in which case who knows).

Finally platinumed Guacamelee today.
Shame that I'll have to get a PS4 to remote play Super Turbo Championship Edition on the Vita, though.

anyone keeping record of future Vita releases?

Certainly is a nice list, LOVE MY VITA...
I wonder if FM will make it to the US PSN, is this confirmed?

Dat list.

I'll believe it when I see it

Has anyone tried adding funds to their wallet through mobile recently? I've done it a bunch of times but now when I try to do it, it wont let AT&T phones do it. When I hit the dropdown box, only Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cell are bolded while the rest are greyed out.

I finished the first episode of Broken Sword 5. in another post, I already mentioned my problems with the UI/controls. Many objects are small and right next to each other. Without the ability to zoom or a vittual mouse, they are difficult to select. I also skipped a lot of dialogues accidentially because you skip the text with a touch everywhere on the screen. Some dialogues are so slow, you thing they are already over and when you try to keep playing you skip stuff.

Later on, I also run into technical issues. In some scenes the characters were shown in between animations and strangely interlaced. With a growing inventar there were also slowdowns, which made the game nearly unplayable at the end of the episode.

These issues are quite sad because the actual adventure game behind it was enjoyable. Except of one puzzle, where the solution wasn't really clear and well explained and another, which relied on outside items, the puzzles were ok.
The story is interesting and I want to know what happens. The humour was ok, some things were funny.
With the mentioned issues I can't recommend buying the game for the Vita though.

I paid $7.50 for it last year on the store by accident because it was marked as free. :lol

Played the PS Mobile version and didn't like it. It is one of the cases where nostalgia about the Amiga has mislead me.

I played it for like half an hour. Got stuck because I assume I used some keys in the wrong place. Didn't play it much. If you have any nostalgia for it though go ahead and get it. The graphics upgrade is decent and you don't like it you can play it with the original art.

Btw I got a refund on it, got to keep it, and a $5 voucher for the inconvenience :D

I played the XBL version and it's a pretty fun shooter. Quite relentless. The story is surprisingly... well, I wouldn't say good, but for a game like this, quite decent.

I would hesitate buying it in the Vita though since 2 and 3 are nowhere to be seen.

Unless I'm mistaken, the PS Mobile version is the same, and cheaper.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I picked this up as I used to love playing it on my friends Amiga back in the day.

I've only played through the first four levels of the game so far, but...

It's very 'old-school'. In essence, it's a top down shooter, where the objective of each floor is to get to a set destination, shooting what are essentially aliens and facehuggers (TM) en route, to set a bomb. Once the bomb is set, there is a countdown to get to the exit before it explodes. If you don't get out before it goes off, it's game over man, game over.

You can pick up ammo, money and keys. There are no puzzles to speak of, it's just a pure shooter.

You can purchase new weapons in the shop at any time (accessed from the pause menu), and once you've bought a gun, you can use it in future runs, even if you die straight after buying it.

The game has been given a visual and mechanical upgrade (but you can still play the original version if you want). The great thing about the new version is that you can use the right stick to shoot, making it a twin stick shooter.

There are also a load of new levels thrown in too, but again, the story is slim, and the levels are very, very samey. If that's ok with you (and it is for me), then go for it, but if you want depth along the lines of Hotline Miami, this won't push your buttons.

It's far better than the modern Alien Breed Trilogy and there's a lot of content in the game, it's also CrossBuy/CrossSave with Vita version too. I've really enjoyed it but I know not everybody is happy to play older games like this.

Don't buy it, Alien Breed was really good on the Amiga but the new version is just plain bad.
Alien Breed was conceived with Amiga limitations in mind(8 direction joystick with 1 button) and it worked very well on it, the new version is modernized, has twin stick shooter controls, visible shots etc, it has too many bonus too, all things that make it too easy and destroy the feeling and the qualities of the original game.
For some reason even levels feel wrong and bad.
3d Alien Breed PS3 games are better imo, totally different from original Alien Breed games but at least the gameplay is conceived with modern controls in mind.
Thanks for the response guys :D helps a lot.

Hi all you sweet folks! We'll be getting cross-save into SteamWorld Dig as soon as we can - we're *blushing* with shame for taking the issue so lightly. We simply thought you guys and girls would either play it on your PS4 or Vita - that you wouldn't mind having one session going on either platform. To be able to release in time for the Spring Fever promotion, we left it out - a very cool feature, but surely people wouldn't care so much? Who's that interested in SWD anyway?

We were wrong, we're awestruck and impressed with how strongly you feel about it, and we are fixing it. We'll submit for an update as soon as we know it works seamlessly. Since it's also up to Sony to release the update, I cannot say at this point when it goes through, but will post as soon as we know.

Once again shows how surprised we always get by the attention SteamWorld Dig is getting, and how interested you are. We love you for it, and hope you'll forgive us for misjudging this.

Thanks! I don't have a PS4 at the moment (soon though) but cross save would be fantastic. I'm buying SteamWorld Dig right now on my Vita. The game looks awesome and cross buy is a great deal.

Edit: Bought.

Really cool of you to address the issue directly. Just started playing for the first time tonight and have enjoyed the experience thus far...looking forward to more.

Just beat Steamworld Dig on Vita. Took 5 hours and 3 minutes. What a FANTASTIC game. My goodness. I didn't want it to end. Hope the next Steamworld game comes to the platform at the same time as the 3DS version this time and that it lives up to this wonderful title.
