Ok, so, I think the only thing in this game I'm inclined to think is bullshit that I've encountered yet is taking ~1500 dmg from the cyclops hippo grab bite attack that has kinda crappy hit detection. I only have 1450 hp. Very annoying.

Anything they are weak to? Poison? Fire?

poison takes them down pretty well, I used a bow with poison arrows to deal with them most times. They are slow enough you can just back up and shoot.

Finally beat the smelter demon after about 20 tries. Took me awhile but I learned how to dodge him. Also beat the Old King after him and am happy that I finally can leave the iron keep. YAY

where are these guys?

Right before
Velstadt The Royal Aegis
near the end of the
Undead Crypt
. There are a group of armored knights before the fog wall and before them is infinitely respawning wraiths that give 750 a kill; I was one shotting a group of three one after another. I was killing one every few seconds.

Black Gulch boss. Anyone got any pointers?

Not to sound whiny, but I think this game completely misses the point of the first two games.

I think the way to the boss is much harder than the boss itself. O.o Roll to the side when he attacks? Also try not to walk into the fire when backing up....oh, and you can chop his arm off so he can't hit you with the cleaver!

Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Edit:
Finally got that fat bastard. Had to change up the armor set and was finally avoiding his grab. Gracias to those who offered helped.

Yup, I had great timing I guess. :P

Yeah it was more the path getting there that was just a hassle, by the time I got to the boss I was already fatigued. Gotta keep your mind right at all times. Can't go on tilt.

Late game:
one burst through a a wall and I didn't want to run through the wall into the unknown. I hammered it with spells and got it half down and got grabbed.

What level are you? I think the Iron Keep is going to be my task tomorrow. I've been in and out of there a bunch of times, just haven't taken out the bosses yet.

I'm not too far in yet I think. Just reached the wharf side entry point into the Lost Bastille and I'm wondering why the fuck the shore is absolutely littered with bloodstains left by people who look to have just blindly walked off the edge into the water to certain death for no reason.

Pretty lame that I did so much co-op early on...i basically co-oped myself out of being able to summon help for bosses later in the game. The pool of potential players is pretty small now

Awesome, I'll try it. Not ready to start NG+ yet. Kind of like being able to warp w/e I want to put down my summons sign.

Will I be able to summon/get summoned more if I move on to NG+? SL 164 (don't flame me).

Not entirely sure, tbh. I'm not ready to move to NG+ either as I don't know if I'm gonna keep playing (Infamous in about 30 minutes!). I just wonder how populated it is ATM.

And of course I just ran out of cracked blue orbs :( I don't understand why the covenant leader just doesn't sell them--like what's the big deal.

Are you in
the Shaded Woods? Because one of the petrified guys in that area is blocking a chest that has a caster armor set and another Fragrant Branch of Yore. If one of the ones you're thinking of is the guy in the little ruin area across from the two towers that lead up to the boss, he's the one. Unpetrify him first and open the chest for a new branch then use that one on the guy with the Fang Key.

What this guy said is the correct answer.
Cool, thanks a lot.

Also, screw that 'fall' in that area, broke all my stuff.

I'm gonna guess it's the guys who spawn when a bell gets hit. In the
crypts

Ah those guys! Nice, might go pick up a few more levels there, though I think I'm a bit overleveled as it it =P

How did ya get locked out? i don't undertand.

He thinks that his Soul Memory number is too high. Which is not true.

So what? Even if you cooped like crazy early on in the game ... a few thousand souls more or less, what does it matter? You'll have one or two million souls at the end of the game.

edit: Also, small whitestone ignores Soul Memory in NG.

If you're melee--I'd level it up along with your STR/DEX of choice. On a melee char I've had it up to 20+ and rolling felt so good...felt like you could dodge anything. I'm my hex guy I'm playing and PvPing with, I have it at 18 and it feels solid. Not as good as the 20+, but quite good.

I think it's a combination of your total % equipment load (of your max) combined with adaptability to give you those sweet/responsive rolls. I know what you mean though, it doesn't feel as crisp as DS1.

Reposting the picture of my dude from last page:

Got mine to 38 and it feels like DS1 rolling. Able to dodge things even if I roll through them. I definitely think it adds invinc frames to your rolls the more ADP you have. A buddy of mine restarted as a deprived, and said he couldn't dodge pursuers attacks no matter how much he tried with ADP at base, even though he has that boss' attack patterns pretty memorized. ADP is definitely one of the MOST important stats to raise up first.

Damn - it seems like quite the investment. Mines is only at 6 (fighting pursuer now). I don't think it was necessary for From to mess with this. Can't say I am a fan.

No, it must be your third playthrough.

I think it came down to efficient play on NG+. My final play time was about 53 hours. NG took me about 43 hours and NG+ took me less than ten hours. I used a ver. 1.00 glitch to skip
Shrine of Winter
on NG++ because it wasn't opening despite me fulfilling the requirements (
3 million souls in inventory
- yes, I was livid when it didn't work).

Ah - well that's not too bad. I tried to not read the spoilers since I am still in the beginning. Still getting used to everything.

so there being no one to summon is my imagination, huh?

I'm not saying it won't level out eventually. I'm saying for right now for where I'm at in the game, it makes it difficult to find other players to summon.

You can actually stop them from spawning for anyone who is going to do that boss fight. Right below the stairs is an annoying Hollow ringing the bell :P

damn, really? I guess I'll start to level up that stat now. and I thought I was sucking at dodging.

About SL80-85, had to upgrade the great club to +7 just to get some decent damage on him. Oh also after you beat him in case anybody is wondering
a pursuer like enemy spawns in his boss room after you sit at a bonfire, if you kill him he will drop a good ring
.

I'm at 106, but I'm sure it'll still be a tough fight.

Is it by design that so often I can't seem to sprint even though I have endurance? Is there some weird cooldown or something?

This was bugging me for a while too.

If you deplete the stamina bar completely you can't run again until it fills all the way back up.

I just spent over 2 hours grinding belfry sol for the
mad warrior
chest armor, it was the last armor piece to drop for me, god what a chore. time to refresh myself with some metal gear.

I just killed the boss of the
iron keep,
old iron king
. Died a few times but i quickly learned his tricks. It was one of the easiest bosses afterall.

It's funny. I beat every boss so far by myself. It's not that i want to solo them all but everytime i try to summon player or npc we end up dying.

late game spoilers:
Giant Lord is obnoxious. You cannot see a goddamn thing during that fight, you pretty much have to use the force to know when to dodge. His sword swipe hitbox is horseshit, too. He somehow hits inbetween his own legs, despite the actual model going nowhere near there. Ugh.

And I beat him first try after bitching. Harumph.

I had a similar issue with
The Rotten's grab move. I would roll through it, his hand would pass me by, and then ta-da! I magically teleport into his hand. Fuck that motherfucker, I killed him anyway.

Keep getting "failed to create summon sign. Time out from server" :/ I'm on 360 and never had this problem before I'm at the
iron keep
and I can see summons from other players, messages and bloodstains.

I'm in new game + and have just noticed that I've never been able to pull off a guard break on a regular PVE enemy. I've done it a couple of times in PVP but in PVE I land the guard break and then the next hit is never a crit, no matter how I seem to time it.

Any tips on getting it right? I'm using the Greatsword, if that matters.

Fought him a little bit ago. This fight would've been a complete joke without the really small arena. With it, this boss was somewhat annoying.

Welp, poise is a worthless stat in pvp.

1 handed R1 from a small sword can break 140+ poise with a single hit.

Yeah, I'm kinda stumped on this. No matter what armor every hit will stunlock me anyway.
Maybe they reworked poise to lower the time you are staggered rather than it preventing to be staggered at all or something.

Not finding much use in it so far anyway.

Yeah that was one of y least favorite boss fights just because I couldn't see anything the whole time
The Giant Lord looks so cool and then I get to stare at his ankles while rolling randomly

Ok I'm having a huge problem here.

In the Lost Bastile or w/e its called, there is a part where the mummy is supposed to roll a barrel down the stairs and explode the wall right? Well I went through the whole area in one go, the guy rolled the barrel the first time, but instead of going straight, it turned and exploded into the wall on the right before it was anywhere near me. So after collecting everything in the area, I went back to break the wall. Respawned the dude like 6 times now and the barrel, and each time now, he just sits there never rolling it. Talking respawning and reloading the entire game nothing.

Is it a one off because these random glitches and enemies just straight up pausing and not moving because of getting caught in the saving game loading is really annoying.

you can roll the barrel yourself

Kill him, you roll the barrel OR you can eventually get a key

Kill him and roll the barrel down yourself. Then you need to blow it up with a firebomb.
Edit: too slow...

I think you only get the critical if the enemy is actually blocking, otherwise they're just staggered for a short while. Try it on those spear hollows in the forest of fallen giants. They block a lot.

For the life of me I can't figure out A
ncient
D
ragon
.

I think I play too coy and it just winds up getting me killed.

Do you think the
soul minimum
will put a damper on speed runs?

The game doesn't make it very clear that you can lock on to different parts of some bosses, but you can. This helps a LOT against bosses so huge that it's sometimes hard to tell what they're doing. Still kind of awkward, though.

I need help on black gulch secret bonfire on Xbox. Can anyone help me? Or would that not even work cause of servers and what not.
