this, this is good.
also about time bitf!

Depends on what you mean by announced. It was announced in 2011 alongside the Wii U. Sakurai had said the announcement was to attract a team to work on it and that it was only kind of in his mind/notebooks at the time.

Then at a Nintendo Direct in...I want to say it was April last year, Bill Trinen announced that Namco was the developing partner on the game, specifically stating that using their resources was the way to get the game out as quickly as they could. The E3 trailer, which was the first footage for the game, came out the following June.

During the initial announcement about Namco's participation, in a page that they had talking about it, with a comment from Sakurai and another from a Namco person, they also claimed that they had a prototype running based on a ported Brawl.

Jeez, I had no idea that many people were blindly against their involvement with Smash 4. I saw nothing but good things with them joining to development team.

God I hope they are helping with the netcode as well. Amazing online Smash is really what is needed.

Looking at pic of the day, and I suddenly thought, tin KI:U, they should've gien some boss fights to be like the mini boss before MEdusa and the 1st phase of Pitoo's 1st fight (a.k.a air battles) Would've loved to fight Phosphora and
Great Sacred Treasure
in the air

When palutena is announced when can ask a mod to change it to super bash sisters

Naw, I'm seriously consider it for official topic for Smash 4.

So assuming Sakurai was not just twiddling his thumbs from 2011 to 2013, it's probably safe to say production started in early to mid-2012. As for whether that's enough time, it probably depends on how many people they have working on it and how much content it will have. No SSE mode will cut down on development time a lot. Namco tends to get games out on time. Network testing is probably going to be what takes up most of the last six months.

I wouldn't worry about it being rushed. If Nintendo wanted to rush the game, it'd be out when they needed it, i.e. now or last Christmas.

Correction: it was E3 2012 Direct that announced partnership between Nintendo and Namco.

That's correct. I should post my old summary based on SSBB and SSB4

I'm not disagreeing with your assertion that their assumptions were unfounded, I'm just explaining where they came from.

Yep I hated not knowing if we're going to get a specific Tales or not back when I was into the series more. I also did not like how they cut Cassandra from Soul Calibur 5. That was messed up and I can't forgive them for that. Patroklos is not the same v.v /rant.

Other than that Namco was probably the best choice, imo.

WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :b

Hey, this news came out of fucking nowhere in a time where I had just started looking back at my one true gaming love once again (Marvel 3 was getting a little too stupid and my Wii backlog was finally winding down) wondering when the next one would happen.

Suddenly Sakurai.

Suddenly "so we're gonna work with NamcoBandai's elite to speed this up and provide consultation here and there."

Suddenly memories of interviews long past about Sakurai wanting a balance and design committee to work on game aspects creeped back into the front of my mind.

Suddenly Smash was being talked about seriously again. [It also doesn't help that the scene is in the middle of the most dramatic "revival" ever.]

Suddenly, the realization that we'd be seeing the game in 2 years became harder to fight against.

If anything, I needed like 3 more WHATs.

Man, that thread has so many good quotes:

Gonna be pretty great when the first trailer comes out and the reaction is "...why the fuck does it look so similar?!"

I seriously loved how in multiple places I saw "not much different than Brawl" or hyper critics going on about frame data that could (and has been; see momentum carrying in Little Mac's trailer) changed since the first trailer's debut.

Kind of off topic, but it's cool to see how much the BiTF guy has grown as an artist since the start of the comic.

Whenever I come to these realizations, I remember how I have this drawing tablet but can never either find the time or devote myself enough to getting better. :(

I gotta change that. Drawing is the one skill I want to learn more than anything else.

Edit 2: IntelliHeath is the first big name going on the wall of shame.

Pssssh, I overreacted on that day because of their bad reputation in the past. At least, they have gotten better over the time.

If y'all actually read the thread and y'all will see how quickly I got over with it when I gathered more informations from the articles and comments.

Edited: Now you edited your post. I'm serious. There are many hates for Namco-Bandai in the past on almost everything hence SCAMCO being their nickname.

Remember that Kid Icarus: Uprising Wii U rumor? Maybe that's actually a thing. Food for thought.

I would wonder who was making it, though.
Project Sora is disbanded and Sakurai is already working overtime on Smash.
If it's just an up port, then maybe. But that seems a bit silly.
I'd still double dip

I must be in weird world 1-1 cuz this is the only "surprise" character I've been genuinely let down with.

I keep hoping for more non-Nintendo characters, something that'll really take me by surprise...at this rate I don't see too much happening.

SmashGAF has convinced me that I need to play Kid Icarus Uprising - should I play it before Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, Phoenix Wright vs Layton and A Link Between Worlds or after?

obviously you should pick the 3DS's best game first
that's Kid Icarus: Uprising, for those keeping count
