Anyone have any tips for the
flame
boss? I am a strength, melee build. I put on fire resist ring and I don't know what else. I get absolutely smoked once this guy powers up his
sword
. I've tried beating him with two other people but always die in two hits at that stage. It's very annoying. I'm around SL80.

Whaaaaat.
Should i totally regret this decision? Or would it have gotten me some totally rad stuff

Nah sorry, I messed up there. Some spoilers about that dude:
He's kinda shitbat crazy.

If you talk to him while you are hollow he'll give you the questline. If you do all that he'll sell you(hollow) items. Mostly spells and caster stuff.

If you talk to him while you are human you can buy all that stuff anyway and you get some more backstory.

If you free him with the lever on the other side but don't kill him he'll invade you 4-5 times in the next few zones. He still stays in that "cell" and sells you stuff. However his phantom is set free.

If you kill him ... he's dead. I'm not sure if you'll get invaded anyway.

Hey, might be me aswell. ;) The bonfire where you meet the merchant for the first time. Take the ladder in that room as if you go to the pursuer. Instead you cross the small bridge in that room to the other side. From there you can't miss it.

Holy shit! do i feel like dumbass now. Thanks a bunch!

yay, I got to Black Gulch, but, I didn't fight the invader NPC wtf? Oh hey Black Gulch sounds like fun! So prett-oh dear god...the fun never ends does it?

I've just finished my work. I'll boot up my game and drop a small whitestone. Look if you can find me in 2-3 minutes. Same name.

it's up in front of the boss fog. You should be able to summon me. If not try the name ring, last god. I'm way above your SL, but the small whitestone ignores that somehow.

Well a few things to try: Summon help, get a big-ass shield with flame-resist, ditch some armor and roll around like a monkey out of his reach.

It's a really short area with two bonfires. Just go really slowly along the edges to clear the spitters and approach all the puddles with your shield raised. It's an area to take slowly, rush it and you're guaranteed to die and get frustrated.

Aldias keep
question.
There's a carriage looking thing that's shaking and i can't get it open. How do I get it open?

About that guy:
I haven't been invaded by him, but I did kill him. You're still able to temporarily resurrect him from a gravestone and buy stuff normally, though it costs 9000 souls each time.

Do you know if you have to be hollow still when you return to him to complete the various parts of the quest? Or do you only have to be hollow to start the questline?

Thanks for the clarification.

question.

The first one I have no idea. Maybe the skeleton should have hit it? The second one get a troll to hit it

Where are you putting down your sign? I remember having no issue getting summoned at
Iron Keep
at SL 100.

I am exactly there haha. Low success rate of host dying to (optional boss)
Smelter Demon
, and fairly lengthy wait for a summon for (boss)
Old Iron King
.

Neat little glitch I found.

Go to the bonfire you had to open up with the barrel at the top of the staircase near the
Ruin Sentinel fight
. Run up the staircase and jump when you reach the barrel to try and land on it. If you do, watch as the game doesn't know what to do after you fall off so it makes you move like three times as fast and at an angle!

I did it by accident and it's kinda funny.

...had a lot of opportunities to do it cause of that damn fight...

Just curious, what is inside them, anyways?

I can't remember, but I don't think it was anything special.

I don't know about Navlan. But since you get completly different dialog depending on wheter you are human/hollow I would guess you need to be hollow all the time for the questline.

Few questions guys; if they've been answered sorry, but I am trying to avoid spoilers.

Does the roll vary between really heavy and sloppy to just the normal one? Because I've been messing around with equipment weight and sometimes can't see the difference in rolls.

How high should I bring my adaptability up? Right now it's my number one concern. Sloppy maneuverability is a big no no for me.

What do I get for people rating my messages?

Ah okay. People just kept putting funny messages outside of those shaking things, lol. Like "Woman ahead rear thrust". xD

Hmm, gotcha. I'll just wait until I have all the items I need to complete the quest instead of dying to become hollow. I've been trying to stay as human the last half of the game if possible.

FYI about Black Gulch, there are two ledges you can jump down to that take you to different areas. One near the first bonfire, close to the puddles, and one near the second bonfire. Use a torch to see them. The first ledge leads you to Lucatiel, and the second ledge leads you to a locked stone door where Darkdriver Grandhal is (for the Pilgrims of Dark Covenant, though you can't join till later). There are also some giants that give you the Forgotten Key once you defeat them to open the locked door (there are two other stone doors in the Majula well and in the Gutter).

I BEAT THE
ANCIENT DRAGON!
SOLO

OH GOD PRAISE THE MOTHERFUCKING SUN

IM SO GROSSLY INCANDESCENT RIGHT NOW I CANT EVEN HANDLE IT!

Huntsman's Copse
is a great area. Really liking its design so far. Too bad I work at 7am tomorrow and have to call it a night. I'll see the sun rise and hopefully remember to praise it.

You get healed for ratings.

People usually either run no adaptability at all, 20 or ~40. Personally I run 20 because that's the point where diminishing returns kick in(because I also have 20 endurance).

edit: Anyone up for some PvP in NG? Try to summon me at Iron Keep. Sign somewhere in the middle of the bridge.

So i'm close to the end so I think and for the last push I was thinking of respecing. Right now i'm at like soul level 110 and use a mace/zweihander depending on the situation. I'm deep into strength and a little into dex. Was thinking of respecing to use miracles and use a weapon (like the sunlight sword) that scales with faith.

Whats a good cut off of points to dump into faith? a good weapon for it as well?

A mace works well. Heide Knight Sword infused with lightning, or a Defender Greatsword is good too. The last has S scaling in lightning (the stat that scales off Faith, basically) if you take it to +5.

Get 50 faith or go home imo

Still digging into Infamous, but I shall rejoin my Dark Souls 2 bros shortly--on PS3 that is. I've been itching to throw hexes and katana strikes in people's faces.

Yep, good advice here.

Speaking of Lucatiel, I really like her quite a bit. In particular, her talk in the Black Gulch about she would even be
willing to kill you if it meant she would be free of the curse.
:( Is there any way to get her armor? It looks cool.

Also, holy shit, I love Soul Greatsword. Does a ton of damage. Is there any way to get more than 1 of them? I found the one in
Drangleic Castle
. Is it possible to buy another one somewhere so I have more casts?

I guess I also need to put points into attunement as well? Thinking 16 plus the ring to get me to 4 spell slots right? Then the rest into dex/str/vit? Also anything with the long sword move set that scales well? I love the regular move set of it.

Best looking armor in the game is still the F
araam
S
et

Nope. That set is ugly as fuck and the key reason why I didn't care about the full collectors edition, what with the statue being in it.

Agreed. Alonne is one of the best looking sets in the game.

The pants look goofy and you get a free step ladder up your sides with that set. Also sorta makes you look like you have a potbelly.

Man the Gutter just fucking sucks. It really does. It's so poorly designed, it looks like shit too.

It's not that bad and basically just follows a path around without any real trouble. Went in there by accident and thought I was gonna just die then leave and ended up clearing the place and getting most of the treasure. Even ended up aproching the fog door from the "wrong" side and could have just left it sealed by making a jump that I didn't need to. Just keep lighting torches and keeping an eye out. There is something really satisfying about smashing those god damn statues too. The next area
just goes overboard with them though
.

The invader NPC in the Gutter is actually around an optional area that just has some items.

I don't know about the mask, but the hat is
part of the hunter leathers (which I think is the rest of her gear too?) located by the third bonfire in giant's forest. From the bonfire where the hag is, it's down the ladder, past the spear hollow sitting on the ground, left through the door, and then immediately right through another door and down the stairs to the turtle knights.
