That bit is OUCH. They're the big golden ones right? Hit like mother fucking trucks.

For me the worst part has been the Shrine of Amana. You'll KNOW why there's so many bonfires in such an average sized area.

Yep, those dudes. Since I had no fucking idea what I was doing or what the right door was I just kept accidentally opening them, revealing more and more of those fuckers, making opening other doors even more difficult. And those doors had those fuckers behind them. Because I didn't want to outright spoil what to do, I only looked up the method for the situation, not what exactly the direction or objective. In retrospect, for my skill level, I should have looked up the solution outright and stuck with it.

On the plus side, got a shitload of souls. Might go back and farm for a bit.

EC what kinda build you rollin with?

I'm in the end game now so is there a better shield to use?
Royal Kite one is my favourite. Very light, good resistances and stability and easy to upgrade. Requires low str too IIRC. Sold by
McDuff
.

I figured it out because someone dropped a message right there and I walked up along the edge.
Same, haha.

Fuck's sake, the key problem with A
ncient
D
ragon
is the one two combo of huge ass hit boxes and stupidly high damage. Nearly EVERY attack can easily be a one shot kill, and ones that can hit you even if you were sprinting full speed from the second you knew it was coming. Worse it seems it's actually just worse for you to hire help, I'm doing 600 damage per hit now but was doing 300 hundred either as a phantom or when I summoned help. What the FUCK? I understand scaling it with help there, but when the boss is already a piece of shit and the point is to have help it should probably be a bit more lenient.

EDIT: No seriously the hitboxes are complete bullshit,
Agreed, I had that happen to me as well.
I get that his slam could be an AOE attack too but then it shouldn't OHKO like a direct hit, just do splash damage. But nope, it OHKOs so it's clearly the hitbox that's wonky.

And yeah the fire... I just don't get it. I know all about the strategy, running towards the tail etc. I do that. I fucking do that. And sometimes I'll still get hit because fuck you
Really don't understand the (late game boss)
You and me both, brah. :'(

Why do you all want to beat (boss?)
the Ancient Dragon

I just talked to him and he gave me a quest item. Or does it drop anything significant?
I can't leave an optional boss undefeated, dammit. :(

Game's good. Real good. Don't think I'll bother with NG+. I've never really cared for the NG+'s of these games. There's nothing interesting in it since you never really change gameplay styles, it's just "number sliders" sliding up and down. But I'll definitely try a different playstyle next time around.

Hold up lol ng+ is where the whole game changes in regards to play style you're strong enough by that point to do tons of dual wielding and more intense spells that you're unlikely to be able to do not only that but you can affect your spell cast time

any weapon you equip changes your play style because of how things are weighted differently and yes you could say that's a slider but...I don't see how it doesn't affect play style when it directly impacts it

right or?

Taking damage needs to fucking stop healing in pvp... little mc scrubtard shouldn't be able to get away with using 20 fucking devine blessings in a single fight...

So i was sun broing in D
rangleic
C
astle
(K
ing's
G
ate
), and we went though the big door and we fight a "female version" of
Gravelord Nito
, pretty cool fight btw, i did'nt had the item to open the door atm, so it was all pretty much new to me, a couple of hours later, i got the item to open that door, went through the same path as before but a different boss appear to me (
King and Queen Bosses
), so WTF is going on here? did i miss something?

Sinner NG+ has to be the unfairest fight ever. As pure melee i don´t see how you should be able to solo that guy.
I think i messed by using a Bonfire Aesthetic in that area lol :( I wanted to try a Bonfire Aesthetic just to try it out, but i didnt think that it would affect the boss. If i knew that, i would have tried it a completely diferent bonfire. I already beaten the boss then though, but i'm thinking about for my NG+ run, the boss will be NG++ instead.

Can somebody tell me why there's no real rumble at all in this game?
My controller rumbled (PS3) maybe 4 times in my 40 hours auf gameplay :/

Pyromancies don't scale?
So what hand should I use?
Normal or dark?

Didn't use pyros yet but from just the looking at the items I'd say normal when you're alive and the dark one when you're hollow. No idea if and at what hollowing grade the Dark pyro hand gets better than the normal one though when you're hollow.

Well the difference to ng++ isn´t that much but doing sinner ng+ in your first run is definatley harder than it should be.

Covenant question :

I'm at the doors of pharros, rat covenant so no ennemy attacks me. I ended up finding abonfire on the first floor right before a fog door. I was told it was a rat boss behind.

1. Will it break my covenant oath if I enter the zone ?

2. Is there another way out of the doors of pharros ?

3. Is there any usefull pharros lock to open in this area ?

thanks !

I love
Creighton the Wanderer's
armour, mixed in with the
Insolent
Helm. Mid game spoilers.

Little bit of a faith bonus on helm, then kick ass Stag decal on the armour. Helm also has a neck piece attached to it which bounces around. Nice touch.

I posted this before and I agree. I love that set SO much. I feel like some hedge knight out of the Ice and Fire-verse with it on. Best looking set in the game.

On my current sorc build I'm still rocking the chest piece, with lion mage gauntlets and skirt, and a dark hood. It looks strangely badass

Do Pharros doors stay unlocked in NG+?

no

Kinda disappointed by the NG+ changes. From the
first seconds I thought new enemies would be a regular thing, but it's mostly a black phantom here and there now.

In sinner's rise. Having fun with the sorc build. Will get the requirements down for soul geyser asap.

1. No it will not so if you wanna fight go for it.
2. That whole area is optional and after that fight you get back to the area where enemies attack you and there you can proceed to next area.
3. Not sure since I haven't opened almost any of them but I think there isn't anything necessary.

1. Nop
2. There is a bonfire downstairs as you enter the zone and up to the left is a path to Freja's zone

3. Yeah a couple for items..

I feel like i'm playing the game wrong by being a sorcerer, and i think about stat respec-ing because all the great gear i find is mainly for melee people, but then i get to bosses and encounters that benefit greatly from having ranged attacks...so sorcerer it is still.

I managed to solo them with longsword+4 and fire longsword+3 on my first try. Just tried to kill couple of them fast as possible and then just circle around with remaining 3 or 4 and just hit once when I was sure not to get hit and rinse and repeat. Used all of my healing items in that fight and it was pretty tense.

Yeah I solo'd them with my ultra great sword on 2nd try. Being able to swipe 2-3 of them at a time with it made it pretty easy. They are pretty slow to so you can just sprint to other side and drink usually.

3. Not sure since I haven't opened almost any of them but I think there isn't anything necessary.

There are a couple of useful items in the zone and you can farm pharros lockstones as well on the boss.. The adds have good drop rates for them as do the other rats within the zone..

You get a small/modest amount of health for message ratings.

You and me both for the roll speed, as near as I can tell, ADP governs the roll speed, VIT governs the roll length. I tested this with the
Drangleic
vs. the
Aurous
set, i.e. with heavier armour the roll length is abrupt, but with 20 or so ADP I still rolled fast. Invincibility frames, who knows, but obviously with a good dose of ADP early (20) and a really low equip burden %, this
pursuer
boss fight shows some I-frame use for sure. But I can guarantee you will enjoy doing what I did for armour - it is really light and has equip bonus to boot, there is also a ring which I got a little bit further in the playthrough, but the armour is available right away if you know what to do. The following vid just "unveils" it no spoilers on how to get it unless you watch subsequent vids: Check it!

NOOOO! get dat ADP up to 20 asap ....it caps at 38. Dont forget about VIT either. Two most important stats for roll people.

Hmm, okay I'll get that to 20 at least. Been thinking about dual-wielding though. What's the equip bonus for the aurora armor? Is it really worth it?

In the end it doesn't matter all that much. You're going to get tagged at least 50% of the time when you dodge anyway. Fast dodge or cow dodge.

Hmm, is that glitch or a design decision? Please don't tell me it's the "tripping" of dark souls.

Does anyone have some tips on how to beat
Darklurker? This boss wouldnt be so bad if it didnt split in half. I managed to get to do to maybe 30% health once, but it almost seems like luck. I mean, it completely depends on what the 2nd Darklurker is doing. If it shoots the beam, maybe it isnt that hard, but if it suddently start to use Hex or Fireballs, then its much harder.

It also sucks that you have to use a Human Effigy everytime you want to fight it. Since you need to beat Darklurker to get it's soul (which is needed to buy a spell if i'm not mistaken), you have to beat it in order to get the platinum trophy. If you run out of Human Effigies, and have farmed every enemy, you're pretty much out of luck. There is always NG+ and such of course, but then the boss is probably even tougher, and you need to use much time farming for Human Effigies again.

Good to hear that NG++ isnt that much harder :)

So is it just me or are there way more "ULTRA" Uber sized weapons in this game? Half the people I meet are wielding ultra great swords or makes or dual wielding them. Also feels like there aren't a lot of caster toys. Like one caster boss soul item.

Yeah Lost Sinner is by far the hardest boss Imo followed by Freja..

Dunno, Lost Sinner seemed fairly susceptible to the "stick close, walk in circle" strat. And Freja I think I found the right distance to make her use her beam over and over again, so I just kept exploiting her opening. Plus I was killing the spider things in one hit so they weren't much of a problem.

Here's my character:

Gear:

Berserker Blade +5 in right hand
Blacksteel Katana +10 in left hand

King's Crown +2, gotten from Vendrick
(this is a spoiler for a late game boss)
Llewellyn Armor +5 (not actually sure where I got this drop from, but I think it's the best-looking armor in the game and I'm not sure I'd want to wear anything else for any character)
Llewellyn Gloves +5
Alone Knight Leggings +10 (I think these look neat, but I'd wear something else if it weren't for their very strong defensive stats once upgraded)

And the rings I usually roll with:

Third Dragon Ring - permanent fixture, and prior to that the Second version
Chloranthy Ring +2 (sadly heavily nerfed relative to its Dark Souls 1 version, but I still love me some stamina buffs)
Ring of Steel Protection +2 (just a very nice overall boost in physical defense, though I'll switch it or Chloranthy out occasionally for an elemental ring or something else)
Ring of Blades +1 (trying to get the +2 version of this, dammit. Any boost in attack power is something I like)

As my bow I use a Hunter's Blackbow +10 - scales at E with STR and S with DEX. For almost the entire game I used a Bell Keeper Bow which was some random drop from some enemy, and it served me nicely. I don't use a bow too much, but it's always nice to have a good one as a backup.

And current stats in the next pic. I haven't soul vessel'd yet, may do so later on to increase ADP at the expense of Vigor. I'm not really interested in magic in Souls games, as you can no doubt tell (ATN is at Knight starting default, and I haven't touched INT or FTH either - they're both boosted by three due to the helm I'm wearing). I also usually don't bother to increase health because I like the idea of being vulnerable to every hit in Souls games, but figured I may as well this time since people were going into higher soul levels in general.

photo5c6jt1.jpg

I put one extra point in Vitality to allow me to wear a bit better (and thus heavier) physical def armor for that fight I was talking about in the last post, and still remain under 70%. Only time I've felt undergeared, heh.

Compared to some people my soul memory stat probably looks fairly huge. That's because I've spent a lot of my playing time in co-op, since that's one of my favorite things to do in the series in general. It's not even for any rewards - regaining humanity, souls, whatever. I just like the idea of helping people through obstacles. Though it is quite neat that using a small soapstone
gets you a smooth and silky stone each time.
Not going to complain about that.

Unfortunately I have noticed a distinct decrease in summons as my soul history has gone up, towards the end game when many people must be around the proper soul level range (roughly 90-130 or so). Where I used to be summoned in literally less than a minute, I now don't get summoned after upwards of 10 or so minutes. It's really unfortunate to me that you hamstring yourself later on by co-oping a lot, putting you out of range of others through the soul history mechanic.

Um... any tips for
Belfry Luna, the boss(es) especially. I keep getting invaded every time I set foot in the fucking place by guys who are too strong for me to kill and I can't find any summon signs anywhere to help with the boss as well. Yet when I play offline to stop the invading the gargoyles boss fight is just too much at once for me to handle alone. Can't kill any of them but the first one fast enough to make the fight any more managable.
.

It's getting me down big time :(

For the record I didn't think
Vendrick
was hard..

I get interupted when I get hit while casting it. If they got the spell off then it's going to heal them very fast over time. Same for flask.

ok, this is a minor gripe but where are the nice skirts, dammit?

I spend 90% of my time in Dark Souls in the gold hemmed skirt, the crimson waistcloth, or the dingy set, and here I am, 60 hours in, and the only skirts I have is the lion mage one, which is cool as part of its set but isn't a real full skirt like those.

are they just rare drops or rewards for buying too much from specific merchants, or just not present?

late game: I cleared the M
emory of Jeigh
fight last night; it was the first time I've gotten truly annoyed at the load times because I quickly died a bunch of times until I sussed out how to do it perfectly. With better load times I wouldn't have ever thought "this is some cheap bullshit" because it really wasn't all that hard, but I confess the thought crossed my mind.

I switched up my character load out a little
from a +10 staff to a +10 pyro glove
and used
Fire Storm three times
and it was all over.

I had a great time in the D
ragon
S
hrine
, but no way in hell am I fighting that optional boss y'all are having such a hard time with, not on this character at least, hah. I was glad I explored it thoroughly because it was cool to find some of the great gear there on my own.

They really need to fix the enemy weapon clipping in the next game.

There really is some crap in this game though. NuBlightown, the shrine, and temple are just horribly places with little level design, just tons of enemy spam.

Shrine
of Amana
is beautiful and genius troll level design.

Only one I would maybe slightly agree is NuBlighttown and it isnt as annoying tbh.

my Bastard sword is +10, but i want to add lightning.. is my weapon getting stronger or weaker? Also im a quality build.

it'll reduce the stat scaling. Since slabs and bastard swords aren't that hard to come by in this game, if you want a lightning weapon for enemies it's good against, make a second one.

Thanks, will do. im still confused bout scaling, and how it works.

quality build (str and dex) works best with upgraded but not infused weapons.
infused weapons scale off of other stats as much or more than they do off of str and dex.
stuff that scales at S or A scales off stats much more than stuff at D or E.

The last area of NuBlight is literally a straight line with poison everywhere, awful!

Only other thing about the game that is a tad annoying is the King's doors making you put the ring on every time. Really silly and time-consuming. Thought it might be a load thing at first but it stayed open once and I went to the bonefire and came back and it was still open(only to close from then on out)

So what is the pvp level cap about? I shouldn't level over 150 if I want to take part in the designated areas? Imagine that is all on NG right, so if I was going on to NG+ I could continue leveling.
