Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Someone summoned me and instantly sent me back :/ Didn't like my armor?

Lol at (late game boss spoilers)
ancient dragon. The boss run to him is absurd.
It's hard to practice too because of how quickly you can die and the massive boss run to get there.
It's why I opted for forcing extinction. Now it's just long and tedious, but not actually a pain in the ass.

It's also why I opted for several phantom summonings first as practice, even if I never beat the boss then. At least I got a good feel for it, now it's just dealing with the bullshit hitboxes and damage.

Soooo.. I'm reading that the DS community agrees to have SL150 as PVP cap?

Edit: On second thought, not that it matters...dang Soul Memory. Lol.

I feel very strongly that Dark Souls 1 should be the first Souls game anyone plays, and that it should be played blind paying very close attention to every detail. If you get stuck, turn on online mode and look for helpful messages around levels. If you are still stuck, summon help. If you are still stuck, ask someone who knows only to give you hints. Then when you beat the game, read up on plot points and secret areas you missed.

Personally I played Demon's Souls first, and I enjoyed it a lot, but I feel it was like a rough draft of Dark Souls and only diminished the impact of the much more significant Dark Souls experience. Dark Souls II is also a great game, but it is not at all a work of art the way Dark Souls is. Use whatever help or guides you want with Dark Souls II, it's just a videogame to have fun with.

Is not reading a guide or walkthrough that important for having the best experience? I think it would be very frustrating to keep dying in a certain zone, while I should be doing the zones in a different order.

I like a challenge, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel!

So, what does one do with the
sleeping scorpion
fella at shaded ruins?

Don't fight him. Put on the Ring of Whispers you can buy from the cat merchant, and you can talk to him. He can be summoned at the next boss. After you beat this boss, and then after you beat another insect like one, talk to him again.

You still need to kill 2 more.
Drop down the whole in Majula, or go to the shaded woods. Doesn't matter which one is first

I used to do that a lot if i needed to use the bonfire. I do send apology messages, though.

Technically You can still get to D
rangleic Castle
with only two. I just opened the place up just now I've beaten the same bosses.

Why do you all want to beat (boss?)
the Ancient Dragon

I just talked to him and he gave me a quest item. Or does it drop anything significant?

Does it matter which two? I went with 3 and it wouldn't open. My guess is
all you need is the red thing behind Freja

No I don't think so. Once you open the
gate at the Shaded Woods
you can get there.
There is a trick to opening the door to the castle but it doesn't require boss souls.

EDIT: I don't even know who Freja is, haven't met him/her yet.

Damn, D
rangleic Castle
is amazing from the outside, visually. It reminds me of when I first got to Anor Londo. Just gaping at the grandness of it.

This was one of my "wow" moments as well. A skeletal, almost electric atmosphere emanating from it as you slowly approach from a distance, its terrible gaze watching every step you take.

that's how I felt anyway.

Really don't understand the (late game boss)
ancient dragon's firebreath spell. Thought I had a pattern down and sudden his air aoe breath manages to him me in my hiding spot.

Follow the tail. Whenever he lifts off, just follow the tail with a sprint and at least two jumps. You can kind of force him to move the way you want him two by standing around his tail. It's very easy to corner yourself into a 100% death state if you position him incorrectly and he takes off.

I think my favorite improvement in DS2 so far has been the character creator. I feel like the improved customization combined with the ring of the dead is great.

Question about Ca
astle Drangleic. I found a girl in a cage with some creepy dude blocking the lock. Im already on the next area but I was wondering if I missed the key to open the cage in the Castle, or I will find it later on

Just keep progressing. Pay attention to
the loot you get from bosses
, though.

Will give it a go, thanks!
One more question, is there any place to farm Simpleton's spice?

Beat the game last night.. Last boss was easy.. I think I'm going to do some cleanup before I do NG+

I know for a fact now that you can't buy all the spells until NG++

yep.

i ventured into belfry sol and saw
mobs standing there for no reason? they looked randomly placed. what's the point of that area?
also got invaded by not one, but two players? kinda bullshitty. i don't think i want to fight 2 players. probably going offline next time for that area.

Srsly, am I doing something wrong? Am I in the wrong place? Is there a trick to kill those guys? Is sl 114 not enough?

I get my shit pushed in like never before in the statue room right next to the first bonfire in
drangleic
castle.

Boys I cant unluck the Elite Knight Armor, whats up with that?
Defeated couple of bosses
includin prusuer
but the merchant in the house in Majula doesnt want to sell it

Has anyone solo'd the gargoyles as a melee character? I don't see how its possible because as soon as you have one of em lined up for an attack you got 3 more that beat the shit out of you from behind and sideways. My poor summoned ally died within seconds after stepping out the mist door :(

I've done it mainly with melee and a few lightning spears after running away for estus healing.

I greatly benefited from the Great Club moveset, cause the second 2H R2 is a spinnning attack that hits everyone around you, sometimes twice, so weakened Gargoyles die from it easily.

You have to buy enough from the vendor first before it unlocks. Not much, maybe a few thousand souls.

Bah, fuck it. May as well just get on with NG+, the bonus boss's rewards aren't really worth it with
King Vendrick REALLY dead.
At this point it's bragging rights and a pain in the ass way of getting a reinforcing material.

Try luring it out. - 41

Try ranged battle. - 32

I can't take this... - 25

Just some voting history.

I should really get those medals. I just am playing pure str, but always love throwing bolts, and now that we can respec changing roles is far less time consuming.

Just don't try to throw bolts too much in pvp unless you are wearing some spell speed stuff and have attn up. My paladin build takes like 2.5 seconds to throw a spear, my priest build is chucking them in almost a second.

Edit: I freaking love cleric shield for casters, has spell pary for sorcs, and super high lighting resistance for clerics

(boss weap spoiler)
Curved Dragon Greatsword
is a beast. I put down my dual katanas a while back to mess around with it. I fought (end game spoilers)
Throne Watcher/Defender
at bonfire intensity 2 and a single 1H R2 hit w/ lightning resin knocked off roughly a fourth of
Watcher's health.

With a Bracing Knuckle Ring +2 the durability hit is quite manageable. Its R1 moveset is also quick - for the type of weapon it is - and has good sweeping range. When upgraded it scales at
B with Strength and S(!) with Dexterity, and at +5 its base damage is 400, so if you've got those stats up you're gonna lay down some hurt.
Pretty damn nice weapon.

Try putting a 'bonfire' message right next to a bonfire, that always got hundreds of votes in DS1 for some stupid reason. Or the idiots that put a message right on the fog door or levers so you hit 'x' and get the message instead of activating what you actually wanted to do. /rant.

Nice, i needed a strength weapon guess ill go for this

I ditched my STR great club NG+ build yesterday. It was just no fun randomly missing enemies and being left open. So very annoying, out of nowhere you're hitting in the opposite direction. Don't know if this happens with the other huge STR weapons, but I tried out magic instead.

Magic users, what are your favorite spells? Of the new spells I really like soul greatsword

Finished the game yesterday night. Great game but, for me, it miss the touch of miyazaki.

And, they remove the black enemy with a white mask shown in the first trailer.

Soul gayser and every boss will cry your name at night.

Oh man. The people who put messages next to secret walls so that the wall doesn't work. :/

I'm a first time magic user in Ds2 and by far I love Soul Spear. It's a work horse spell. So many of the spells are utter trash, though. I tend to load up on a goodly number of Greater and Heavy Greater Soul Arrows, Two Soul Spears, a Soul Geyser, and then something like Magic Crystal Weapon. 60 attunement, 60 int I apologize for nothing.

Just got myself the Staff of Wisdom and upgraded to +5, goodbye Twinkling Titanite :(

Shrine of Amana
was easy. Didn't use arrows, didn't have help. What's people's problem with this. Soul arrows are super easy to dodge. Not a lot they can do when you peg it at them and rape their shit. Areas gorgeous too. Boss was super creepy although very easy. Will be sun broing that boss for other people I think.

good to know, I plan on doing a Paladin build next.

I use the
Moonlight Greatsword
.. It was a beast for PVP in Dark Souls but the int Scaling is only A now down from S.. You can infuse it to scale better but it would be a waste..

Also I found out from a fairly common gaming forum(not sure if I can post the name) that you can farm twinkling titanite infinitely.. You basically keep using bonfire aesthetic at the bonfire in Forest of Fallen Giants behind the King's Gate and go in the memory with the Golem Lord to get a new aesthetic right there to your left.. Only catch is you have to kill the Golem lord every time but considering the boss strats, if you know how to fight him in NG+ you should also do well in NG+7
